Even doubled trough the eye,it s not a strong knot, like they advertise it,to have won a public knot contest. Palomar and Trilene are stronger than Fish'n'fool knot. I try to stay away now, from anything that has clinch and uni in the name.
Just learned trilene knot recently and man I love it especially for expensive lures and what not, it's pretty much double the security compared to the uni knot I used to always tie@@user-nh2kb3ci3w
@@jeffwhite543Double palomar knot is proven and tested best and strongest for braid. Double San Diego jam proven and tested best and strongest for Fluoro. It all depends on the line type.
I only tie the improved/double/fish-n-fool uni on lures, the improved palomar on hooks (except circle where i snell), double uni or fg knot for leaders (depending on line). I only break line when snagged out when I get lazy about retying during longer sessions and I only do that with plastics. They’re cheap enough to get lazy.
**NOT SPOILERS BUT DANCING AROUND THEM** Once you're done reading this book think back... what was the whole book set up to be about? A Sniper, an excellent one. Now if you've read much Reacher then you know he was the only Non-Marine to win their 1,000 yard sniping tournament, or something like that. Now after you've finished the book... did they mention that Reacher is about 1 class below these guys who are top 4 in the entire world, hes probably a group of 100 more that can almost play the game at that level... but how many times was that mentioned in this book? On top of that it was clearly set up to be Reacher vs The Sniper.... but was it about that? I'm trying not to spoil for anyone even though there's a clear warning at the beginning... that is the magic of a great author. Take a concept that would make a great book and develop an entire world around it that takes our characters halfv way around the world... but then reveal that you were never writing that book. That book would've been good enough to sell a million copies with a happy fan base... but you have the power to tell us a different story we don't even know we're reading. Think about that. It seems simple once it's been done but it takes a great level of talent and confidence to believe in your story telling ability enough to subliminaly give us a story that we didn't even know we were reading and then after you finish the last word on the last page you realize...."that's why they didn't ever mention Reachers excellence with a sniper rifle.... because it isn't relevant to the story. Definitely not my fav JR book but still good enough to be the best book in 5 other series I've read lol. I'm so thankful they continue writing these for us!
The average strength for breaking point for the uni knot is 20.21lbs and the Palomar knots breaking strength is 18.71lbs. If you look it up that’s what it says so google it before you comment
Noooooo test it yourself, one side a palomar and the other the uni.10out of10 the palomar wins But don't get me wrong, I love the uni,it's just not as strong
@@Westfishingandhunting “Test it yourself” Okay, they literally have labs and precise machines set to test these things in closed environments. “Giver a tug Jerry” Very convincing!!
This knot is not close to the palamar knot. The uni knot is around 65 percent strength of the fishing line while the palamar knot is almost 100 percent. But if you wrap the line through the eye of the hook twice then tie the uni knot then it’s close to the palamar.
The pal market is stronger than that cause you only get one piece of line going around the eye.A palamar not has 2 plus they don't cross each other enough to worry. That would cut each other but the palamar.I know is better. I've caught a lot of fish. I've lost a lot of fish because of the Uni knot breaking. You know, yellow tail. are, but I never broke a knot on a palomar.
I dont disagree, that knot does its job for sure. I'm a fan of using 2lb and 4lb test and I've gotten big fish as well. Keep fishing heavy g bout to go right now myself.
“Pull out about 10 inches…”
Well, count ME out!
😂😂😂 this is why I love the comment section.
Brother you can see him cut like 3 inches max off at the end
I'm out by 6.
😂
Any simple knot😂will tie anything 😏🥰👍😂😀
Palomar is way faster, stronger and simpler!
It’s actually not stronger. The uni knot is 8% stronger

The problem with the uni knot is that it’s easier to tie incorrectly and breaks more often than the polymar knot
I’ve never had the knot break. My issue is when tying braid it pulls out. I don’t use it with braid line anymore
bs i have caught a 50 lb striper on a whopper plopper with this knot..only one ill ever use and its super simple
@@jeremiahurban2457use double Palomar for braid. It’s been tested and proven the best knot and strongest knot for braid

How can this be the strongest when you don’t have two lines going through the eye?

Try that with 4 lbs line.
No kidding....you're gonna need a jeweler's loop to see the line. 😮😄
This is a serious question. Not asking to be a smart ass but what would you need 4lb test for?

@jeremiahurban2457 I've caught nice rainbow trout with 2lb line, just gotta know how to fish
The polymer knot goes through the eye of the hook twice makes it better in my book
Alot of this and that for a knot. Let's see who can erase that 10 days from now. Tag your it.
Starting to think that the double san diego knot is stronger than palomar knot. Have you tried it?
@@jeffwhite543Double palomar knot is proven and tested best and strongest for braid. Double San Diego jam proven and tested best and strongest for Fluoro. It all depends on the line type.
Pretty sure the best is the trilene knot it never breaks
Not strongest. Not even close. Stop lying.
Doesn’t rival the polymer knot at all. The polymer knot is at least twice as strong for obvious reasons.
I like the clench knot
The Palomar is way easier to tie
Pull out 10 inches..?! I don’t have the capacity….😢
If you put it through the hook again it’ll be twice as strong. I do this with my bloodknots
Okkkkkkkkkkay 😊😊😊nice tutorial
Sir... I don't think I can wrap it around 78 times.
I been doig this knot that my granddad tought me for years and i just found out the name is uni knot🤦😂
I've been using this know for years without a problem. Never knew what it was called though.
Trilene knot is strongest imo
The Palomar knot is the strongest, yet also the most difficult to spell, apparently.
I just use the old fishing knot works great. Never let me down
Trilene knot is easier and stronger
Not the strongest. It's only one loop on the hook.
Wrong the Trilene knot is the worlds strongest knot just saying
Palomors knot is still better

This is a knot that is less likely to slip. I melt my tag ends to make like a lil stub so the knot can't slip
Why would you bother when the Palomar knot is so much easier to do?
The uni knot is better for bigger baits, you’ll lose less line when you cut the tag off than the palomar
the only one i use..works for every bait

That's a garbage knot, useful in most cases compared to the palomar it sucks. The double san diego jam knot is the strongest in the world

The Double Pittson knot is Stronger
Try that with 4lb line and it's virtually impossible
Hello😮 how strong is the line😂😂😂
To say Uni is the world's strongest fishing knot is such BS. Palomar has 2 wraps through the eye. Snell wraps the shank 7, 8, even 10 times if wanted.
I have a knot the breaks above the line rating.
Silver thread tie method.

I'd suggest using fishing line not thread but what do I know
