Ever since I learned this its all I use, its so easy with only one knot for all! I also use it for my shock leader and it works ok although the knot is a little big.

I didn't cinch down tight enough. With mono, I do 4 wraps. I know folks do 3 but I'll take the extra wrap for peace of mind.
The uni knot is very useful, especially when using a double uni knot for joining line, but for terminal tackle the Palomar knot is smaller, easier to tie and just as strong, if not stronger. I recommend checking out some videos on how it's tied.
I've used an improved clinch knot for over 55 years and never had a knot fail. I have no doubt that her knot is stronger, but it's hard for me to tie since I don't wear glasses while I'm fishing. I use it in fresh and saltwater.

Where I come from, we call that a "Duncan Loop," useful for attaching a second hook and leader. A Uni Knot would be essentially two of those, useful for attaching mono to braid.
Depends on what type of guides you have on your reel. For my Bass rods I would not use a Uni for a nylon to braid leader. it creates to large of a profile and can get hung up on the micro guides. An FG knot is the best for Nylon leader to Braid. Its doesn't get hung up because the Nylon line is never looped or doubled up to get hung up on guides.

You can also use it as a swivel knot. Sinch it down then pull it back off the eye just a bit to create a loop. This works fantastic for small baits and flies that need more action in their presentation.

If you're using Mono Palomar is better. Too much friction tying this one. Lost a good number of fish due to break offs with this and similar knots... Never lost a fish due to a break off with a palomar.

I have always used to clinch knot or maybe an improved clinch knot works for sturgeon works for small trout works for flyfishing. After 35 years of using that knot I have only lost fish trying other knots I’m sure it works for most
I just use an old fashioned anglers knot. 43 years and hasn't failed me yet. I suppose this would be easier/faster to tie. I'm gonna be honest, I won't try it, but I would recommend a new angler to try it.

Do that but put the loop up the hook and rap it around the hook about five times then back through the eye of the hook and throw the loop close to the top of the hook and pull till tight and it will never break

The uni knot is my all-time favorite fishing knot. And a uni-to-uni is the best way to join two lines.

I have used this knot for close to 40 years on dry flies, wet flies, & nymphs. Never had one fail. I've used it with tippets as small as 8x.
This is the best way I have seen to show fishing knots. Just make sure where to show where viewers need to lubricate.

Snell prevents sliding weights from hitting the knot and weakening it.

I use my girlfriends girlfriends spit for lube.
And for those that feel uncomfortable with sharp hooks, get a cork and use the cork as a cover for the hook to protect your hands being punctured.

If you double the line over then tie your uni it will have a stronger knot for braid hands down.

To me that's a 3 turn grinner knot I used up to a 5 turn for my carp and cat fishing, its a great knot and very strong

we use 3 turns every 24/7/365, double the line or wraps or both for braid. Every fish you see in 900 vids is three turns
Usually use 5-6 for 10-12 lbs, I think you can get away with less the larger the line diameter
