TGV! Great vid, The vintage Omegas are just beautiful and I love the style. SIMPLY CLASSY! The Hamilton is a beast thou, I'm mirrin for sure. My son got a Casio diver and a Casio calculator watch for his B day on Saturday. He's been "Schwarzkopf'n ever since!
FANTASTIC, so glad to hear, your comment just made my day, you son obviously takes after his father in being a cool chap ;-) Thank you, Best regards, TGV
Just One More Watch my dad’s F-14 Squadron made a custom Aerospace Evo in titanium with a Tomcat on it and, I’ve got to say, it’s an incredible watch. It’s incredibly light and, overall, a gorgeous watch. I definitely recommend it.
I bought my Stowa flieger no logo few years ago when, in search for a not too much expensive model, I stumbled upon Stowa and discovered the heritage of this brand and all the love is latest patron is putting in the production of these watches.
I just bought the Stowa Marine original, 41mm White dial, just love it. And you are right!!! it is in the black forest, I ordered mine directly from the Factory in Germany and from the Black Forest Area...
i picked up an omega 1968 seamaster dress watch about 10yrs ago, beautiful, automatic, silver face, dagger style hands,£160,box and papers, original receipt,i was and still am,over the moon with it,unfortunately it kicked off my watch collecting, ahhhhhh watches, beautiful.great vid.
This chanel is what got me into watches. Thank you TGV for bringing me into this hobby. Being in college and having a limited budget, you opened my eyes to how many quality watches I can get that won't break the bank.
Hey TGV, greetings from Germany! First of all thumbs up for your great work and passion! I do though miss Certina in your vids. In this case especially the Certina Automatic Divers Watch. For 770 Euros great style and quality (I own the blue version, beautiful)
Really glad to see the Glycine Airman on here. I recently bought the Airman No.1 purist (the one you were drawing a blank on) in celebration of finishing grad school. If Invicta ruins the brand or not, so be it. My Airman is a classic and that will never change my love and appreciate for it! Also, as a frequent traveler, it's really useful! Cheers!
Hey TGV, Loved the video, as always. Have you ever thought of doing a budget video? As in the watches you'd buy if given $10,000 (or any other amount of money) to spend specifically on watches. I know that it's something I'd love to see. Keep up the great work, Duncan
I’ve always liked watches for as far as i can remember being 7yrs old using digital casios and now I’m 24 and hooked on all sorts of watches because of this channel. I’ve come to realize i want a fortis so bad i love their history and their awesome tool watch precision look it’s just my absolute favorite watch and I’ve never heard or seen one before i found this channel. I thank you. I will own one soon.
Really solid choices, and the perfect video for me. I'll just add the Hamilton Pan Europ, Autodromo Group B, Oris Classic Worldtimer, & Certina DS 1 Day-Date.
Driving around with my sun roof open, phone connected via BT to the car.... Listening to your Videos at full volume. Gorgeous feeling, pure Urban Gentry next to me. Thanks for the Video.
Being military, I think I am in love with the Glycine Airman Base 22. I love that its 24 hours and being able to set the bezel time to GMT/Zulu time, thats awesome. Thanks for the video, I hit the subscribe button.
Great show, TGV. I also have a mid 1960's Omega Seamaster Deville. It is a small watch, but it is classic and as you say, the in-house movement is solid. My Seamaster runs at +4 to -4 seconds / 24 hours. Despite it's small size, it does get wrist time.
Got my eye on the Marathon diver midsize, but with a quartz movement. Seems like the battery can last nearly a decade, a damn good investment to me. It's sub $500 on Long Island Watch :D Thanks!
I'm really enjoying your channel! Your enthusiasm and class really shine through, and I have learned so much. I loved your piece about etiquette, and snobbery . . . being a true gentleman. In this crazy, upside world we now live in, I still go by the rule that talented, secure people don't have to beat their own chests, and more importantly, don't put other people down. I'm having trouble articulating what I mean, but it really is about our whole lives, isn't it? Anyway, I picked up a Fortis Cosmonaut (used) today thanks to you. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you again, John.
Agreed on the 60's Omega Seamasters. I've about six of them starting with the bumper model and ending with a Cosmic calibre 752. Daily wearer is a 68 Cosmic with the 565 movement. Only watch I've never been able to kill, absolutely bulletproof.
Brilliant video. Somehow you are constantly coming up with great topics for videos after all these years. I pray your creative juices don't stop flowing anytime soon. Cheers.
I have a couple of Fortis auto's that were priced right at the time I bought them. They keep time as good as any COSC certified Swiss auto. Very high quality watches. Good Vid.!
In my personal opinion, with $500 - $1000 in budget, it would be a Tissot Ballade Powermatic 80 COSC for me. I just keep getting the feeling that Tissot is very underrated these days. It's a great brand. Anyways, great review as always. Really enjoy this video. 👍🏻
Outstanding choice. I totally agree about Tissot, crazy to think I bought my first Tissot Z199 for $800! Thank you John, I will have review more of them! Best regards, TGV
I would like to suggest on the topic: the Steinhart Divers both the homages and their Titanium line,i think they are superb quality and bank per buck, attention to detail and outstanding customer service. Also, on the vintage market the Zenith Sporto series from the late 50s to early 70, they are exceptional pieces within that range.
A note regarding the Fortis B 52: the case measures 42mm, but the bezel is 44mm which might make it a bit large if someone wants a 42mm width peice. also, the 3 hand version shown is available in stainless steel or titanium. Fortis also does classic aviator designs in more friendly sizes, 41mm for current 3h flieger.
Hello, I’m watching you from Ukraine. Thanks a lot for your videos. Thanks to you I bought yesterday Sinn 556 I. I was looking for a good watch under 1000 $ and I felt in love with the Sinn.
I'm a touch surprised you didn't find room for the CWC RN divers. Brilliant watch, great quality, hardly ever come up on Ebay and hold their value very well because of this. The company is a joy to deal with too. Great watch, had two and will probably buy it again!
Pretty much any watch by Nite: - Swiss movements - Saphire Glass - Tritium Illumination - 100+ meters water resistance - UK brand, with the heritage of being used by the British SAS I bought a Nite MX10 for around $550 USD. It's a simple utilitarian watch, but it has a more refined, sporty asthetic when compared to other utility/combat watches. I've owned it for a little over 5 years now and it still works (and looks) like new.
I do like the Breitling Aerospace, I also have a thing for the 3100 Pluton which is amazing value at the moment. A couple of years ago I bought a Tissot PR50 Titanium, it shares the same ETA movement as the old aerospace, for just £150. The Mrs wears it most of the time, it's the only watch she has ever worn or liked.
I think Victorinox gets overlooked in this category. They have some of the sturdiest and rugged watches I've ever seen, and that goes for their quartz collection and their automatic collection. I've banged my maverick up against more bricks and walls then I can count and still flawless
YESSSSSSS! Maybe for part 2. The only reasons I didn't put them in this one is I included them in my last top 10 video a week or two ago. Spot on, I have owned several too so I speak from experience. Thank you, excellent choice, Best regards, TGV
Keep in mind that while cool while it lasts the tritium does fade and die. I have a luminox 3200 that doesn't glow at all and luminox doesn't support repairs.
Really nice to see Sinn 556 in there, recently it's been overshadowed by the 104 by many people. It's actually 200m water resistant with a screw-down crown, and the movement is a Top grade ETA 2824-2.
thank you TGV, excellent review, i totally agree with you, in fact i have got the marathon mid size and i absolutly love it, it is by far is the best watch you can buy for this price range
HI I HAVE A OMEGA 269 1964 WATCH A 1020 D/D BOTH I HAVE REPAIRED AND ENJOY WEARING THEM DAILY I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND STILL ENJOY COLLECTING AND REPAIRING WATCHES HERE ON LI NY TKS AGAIN FOR UR VIDIO RON
A lot of interesting choices, Tristano. I’ve been researching Fliegers for a while. The Max Bill is indeed iconic, a beautiful Bauhaus design. I’ve been looking at the Junkers Bauhaus and have learned it also has a very close connection to the Bauhaus movement. Junkers (most known for his aircraft) was very personally involved in the movement and facilitated one of their moves and was close friends with one of the schools leaders. Plus, they run about $500 less across the group! I’m looking at a brass one for about $1000 (ETA 2824-2) as opposed to the Jughans for $1500. I read your excellent reviews on both, of course! Thanks for an great suggestions!
Great video. 500-1000 is a great range, especially when you take into account the discounts you can receive on previous model watches priced over 1k. Also: Wish that Sinn was no date.
Some great choices in there. I happen to have the SARW011 in a DHL depot waiting to be delivered here later this week. Can't wait to see that enamelled dial. I was surprised it made your list as its a close relative of the SARW025 which you didn't rate highly when you reviewed it last year.
Pretty new to your channel. Dig your video style (and watch style, for that matter haha). I can tell how passionate you are and you're very knowledgeable. Been catching up on all of your vids lol. Lots of awesome content and positivity. Cheers from Arizona
Great vid and all great timepieces. Another one which i love is the Damasko Da 36/37/38 family second hand. Ice hardened cases, self lubricating crowns, anti magnetic cage etc.
Tristano, I thought the list was bang on (as always). Quick observation: that Explorer should be on your wrist and not on the winder in the background. Cant wait for your review on that one. Contemplating one myself....
Another wonderful video TGV. All of your selections are great, I especially love what Stowa is doing. As for something to ad to the list, I think the Citizen Grand Classic NB3010-52A deserves a look. Stunning white face, true blued hands, power reserve, and proven moment. Its only draw backs are the size and lack of a signed crown. Cheers!
Hi TGV, Thank you once again for the great video. Not sure if it's been mentioned, the Sinn 556a currently has an ETA 2824-2 "Elabore" movement and a whopping 200m water resistance. It's my every day watch and I couldn't be more in love with it! Best wishes, Rob
Loved the video. A lot of great information and pieces. I really liked your number one pick. I had never heard of that company. After seeing this video, the Marathon is now at the top of my to buy list. Keep up the good work.
Hello TGV, I just fall in love with the Sinn 556 red edition! I think it's going to be my Christmas present! Thank you for making me discover this watch that I had never seen before. Best regards, S.
Glad to see Fortis get some love! Feel like you could have thrown in at least two Bulova's on this list: The Moon Watch and the Curv! In any regard, great video TGV!
Excellent video concept! I'd love to see more of this format. Great selection here as well. My favorites were the Marathon and the Sinn. I hate to say it, but I thought those Breitlings were hideous! Ugly can be charming in a way though. I had my fingers crossed for a Sumo though! Thanks TGV!
Agree with the Marathon, got issued one in the Army and still have it. great watch! the marathon GPM has a Japanese movement I think. Have you looked at the Victorinox Swiss Army Infantry Vintage Chrono. It has a 7750 ETA movement, coated sapphire, nice band. a friend gave me two, one brown other grey for some work I finished for him. I've seen them for $500 to $600. for vintage and horological interest look at some of the vintage Wyler watches, they made some nice peices and weren't overly priced.
Another great video! Have you heard of Nite watches? They are relatively new British company, I believe supplied the SAS. Mostly quartz but they do have a few autos that all fit this price category and their lume features are really fun. Love the channel and the FB group, Ciao!
Another eloquent and measured roundup Tristano - great stuff! Love that the Airman made the list, wish I could find one for even close to those prices in the UK - that Airman No. 1 can be got for $600 and there's even an option to 'make an offer' on the eBay store. Just can't stomach paying £150 to import it....That's SKX money! Always felt the Ball Fireman and Engineer II watches were great in the price range... tritium lume, 100m WR and simple designs make it a great versatile watch like the Sinn. Interesting heritage too. Ever thought of visiting Federico and getting your hands on some of the pateks he's always showing off? Cheers mate, sorry for the essay
Thank you James, Great recommendations. I certainly will try and put a Ball watch in part 2, such amazing watches, loved the ones I reviewed. Best regards, TGV
The Aerospace is a very interesting choice, it has a backlight, it has day and date, chronograph and countdown timer, alarm, second time zone, and believe me or not it has minute repeater 😀
Hi TGV What a magnificent choice of cool watches. I can totally understand why this price range is a true sweet spot. Like them all... Being a kind of dress watch guy, all though already over represented in the tool watch area as well, I especially would go for the vintage Omegas, of which I never can seem to get enough. Thank you for mentioning them; it's really a sweet spot in itself. Or the Junghans Max Bill - ohh, you really can't go wrong with that one👍 Nevertheless; I have never been able to forget the Glycine Airman with the "negative" loome which you tested way back. This tool watch thing never seems to end - fortunately, after all😂 Thank you, and keep up the good work.
Christopher Ward Trident Pro is a nice quality watch that doesn't get much press. Their casework and bracelets are outstanding. Victorinox INOX. A bit beefy on the wrist. That may change with the new "V" version which is a more wearable 37mm. They oddly market this burly design, identical to the original INOX, to women. It would look great on my smaller wrist. It's hard to go wrong with a vintage Omega Seamaster or Connie for a dress piece. Classic, beautiful, affordable. High tech quartz doesn't get much love in general from the watch community but the Casio OCEANUS OCW-T2600-1AJF Radio Wave Solar Chrono, released in 2015, is a beautifully designed and built titanium watch with staggering time keeping capability and accuracy for around $800.
Great video. Congratulations, once more! The Sinn is really appealing for me. You said that it has 100m wr...i think you mean 200m. This watch is a very good (more affordable) alternative to the Omega AT.
Yet another awesome video TGV! Love watching your content! Believe Longines and Tissot also have some great offerings at this price range, not to mention their classy vintage pieces :)
Great video and very informative as usual - how about the the longines conquest automatic 41mm - a great looking watch from a well established and premium swiss brand - you can pick these up brand new in the UK for just under £670 about $870 - well worth considering - they even have 300m water resistance which is pretty rare in this price bracket.
Thanks for bringing up Fortis, I have become very interested in them. I really like the new Classic cosmonaut chrono with the steel or ceramic tach bezel.
Great list Tristano. Definitely it needs a Part 2, I missed a couple watches, like a Victorinox, maybe something else, but well, there's so many good watches around there... In other theme, I mentioned in a comment earlier, but i had an idea around a comment you said, about why you don't see watches as sponsors in E-sports. IMHO, i think that there's no culture about making watches comfortable and compatible with a hard computer use, and maybe some opinions or recommendations about it might be a great theme for a video. That's It, See you around!
Nicklas Lundberg - If you're interested in fortis, now is a great time to find a new one. the Fortis North American AD, Watchbuys, has new pricing in effect compete with grey market pricing. the benefit is two fold. first, a new fortis, with mfg warranty, can be had from the AD for a good price. or, you can find new, grey market watches for ridiculously low prices as the grey market vendors (such as Jomashop) have to lower prices even further to compete with the AD.
I would recommand: Hamilton Frogman, Laco Dortmund, Orient Star Retrograde, Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic, Meistersinger No1, Vintage Seamaster,... AHHH I cant stop xD
Glycine No 1 is the 36mm airman. They have it as a GMT model with a regular 12 hr hand + a GMT hand as well as the purist model with just the 24 hr hand.
Love your show TGV.... You are inspirational on multiple levels.... watches of course.... but clocks, music art and life!!! Keep sharing! You have such a great energy and positivity. By the way, my Sinn Regulator is my current favorite watch though just a bit outside of this price range. Sincerely, John Patrick
Awesome video and some great picks in there. You are such an enabler, man. I now need to *not* look at eBay as my primary objective for the rest of today. I will say though, Breitling Avenger? Bleeeeuuuuurgh! There are some Breitlings I love but that is not one of them. Maybe, as you say, an acquired taste.
FANTASTIC, so glad to hear, your comment just made my day, you son obviously takes after his father in being a cool chap ;-)
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV

Hi to you aswell!
Breitling Aerospace! Yes! I seriously fancy one of these and it gets very little press.

Also would recommend Longines Conquest Heritage at this price range
Bit controversial but I'd love to see a video about your favourite quartz watches
Why controversial? TGV loves Swatch, he suggested Casio Duro and obviously his Casio collection are obviously quartz.
Faizal F Not controversial for TGV but rather for some members of the community who look down on quartz watches
THE Flighty.... :D
I second that.
this I'd love to see more g shocks on this channel
Hey TGV,
Loved the video, as always. Have you ever thought of doing a budget video? As in the watches you'd buy if given $10,000 (or any other amount of money) to spend specifically on watches. I know that it's something I'd love to see. Keep up the great work,

Really solid choices, and the perfect video for me. I'll just add the Hamilton Pan Europ, Autodromo Group B, Oris Classic Worldtimer, & Certina DS 1 Day-Date.
WOW, outstanding choices my friend. I am literally making notes!
Thank you so much Chris,
Best regards,
TGV
That Oris, especially in blue, is something else. I've been wanting one for a while now. And thank you for another great video!
Driving around with my sun roof open, phone connected via BT to the car.... Listening to your Videos at full volume. Gorgeous feeling, pure Urban Gentry next to me. Thanks for the Video.
Marathon and Fortis - want. Great to see your video again. Love your enthusiasm.
What a great show and proof that you can get "keeper" watches for under a grand and build a nice collection to. Thanks again.
Thank you Tim, absolutely and well said.
Best regards,
TGV
Got my eye on the Marathon diver midsize, but with a quartz movement. Seems like the battery can last nearly a decade, a damn good investment to me. It's sub $500 on Long Island Watch :D Thanks!

I have a couple of Fortis auto's that were priced right at the time I bought them. They keep time as good as any COSC certified Swiss auto. Very high quality watches. Good Vid.!
So glad to hear, thank you James, enjoy your Fortis!

Fantastic video! These types of videos are the best of TGV, keep it up!!
Very refreshing. Will definitely look more into Fortis and Stowa after this video. Thanks!

Outstanding choice.
I totally agree about Tissot, crazy to think I bought my first Tissot Z199 for $800!
Thank you John, I will have review more of them!
Best regards,

I fully agree… i have a tissot prs 516… solid built quality … smooth functioning… even when compared to seiko317

Plus 1 for the Marathon. Thats a watch collection killer. Add a dress watch and your done. Super solid timepiece.

I have a Victorinox Swiss Army Infantry off white dial model. Nice 38mm size and sapphire crystal. Great watch.
26:08 "how would you describe it?" Crenelated. Like the ramparts of a castle.
fantastic video as always, TGV! I'm seriously lusting after a Marathon right now!
all the best!
Keep in mind that while cool while it lasts the tritium does fade and die. I have a luminox 3200 that doesn't glow at all and luminox doesn't support repairs.
Chopin F minor piano concerto--excellent choice.
glad to see Airman getting a spot there. I would have liked to see ORIS Aquis and Artelier in there.
Another great video TGV. You the man - Eric
Thank you Eric, very flattered :D
I hope you are well.
Best regards,
TGV
Also used, in the sub $1000 range Ball represents great value. I"ve got a ball fireman racer on the way that I got for $750 usd delivered.
Clayton Berg im considering getting one of those. How is it ? Im more into steel braceley rather than rubber strap
Really nice to see Sinn 556 in there, recently it's been overshadowed by the 104 by many people. It's actually 200m water resistant with a screw-down crown, and the movement is a Top grade ETA 2824-2.
Tissot Ballade Powermatic 80 COSC black. 41mm across, 46mm l2l, clous de paris bezel and dial. Pure class.
thank you TGV, excellent review, i totally agree with you, in fact i have got the marathon mid size and i absolutly love it, it is by far is the best watch you can buy for this price range
So glad to hear, thank you Yahia, enjoy and wear your Marathon with pride!

Chopin Piano Concerto 2 Op. 21 in the background! Awesome choice of the music :)
Reinforces my interest in Sinn. What a great brand.

AEROSPACE!!! Good show & love the photo of the weightless orbiting Fortis too!
Will you make a 2020 version, but only new?
The hamilton x-patrol is my wedding gift from my inlaws and will always be my favourite watch because of this
What a fantastic gift!
Thank you Ross, not a month goes past I don't consider buying it AGAIN! LOL
Best regards,
TGV
The X-patrol and Fortis chrono are competing to be my first chrono
Great video. 500-1000 is a great range, especially when you take into account the discounts you can receive on previous model watches priced over 1k. Also: Wish that Sinn was no date.
Thank you Ricardo, very much appreciated and good news, you can get the Sinn without a date too!
Best regards,
TGV
Love your videos so much. Keep up the great content! Love the Glycine Airman.
Thank you sir! Very kind of you to say.
Best regards,
TGV
Some great choices in there. I happen to have the SARW011 in a DHL depot waiting to be delivered here later this week. Can't wait to see that enamelled dial.
I was surprised it made your list as its a close relative of the SARW025 which you didn't rate highly when you reviewed it last year.
Your videos started my interest in watches, I'm hoping to get my first automatic watch (Aquis) this summer. Keep up the good work!
Great price point to do a review on. Great choices. Really enjoyed this.
Cheers!
Hi TGV,
Thank you once again for the great video. Not sure if it's been mentioned, the Sinn 556a currently has an ETA 2824-2 "Elabore" movement and a whopping 200m water resistance. It's my every day watch and I couldn't be more in love with it!
Best wishes,
Rob
So many great pieces in this price range, tough to narrow it down to 10 for sure. Great choices though, love your videos.
Well thought out review as always TGV!
Interesting video TGV, enjoyed the video as always.
I might have to get the stowa 36 tgv, you're breaking my bank lol. Keep up the awesome vids.
Love your videos mate, top class!
Great video! Can't wait for your Invicta review! I just picked up a used Invicta Elite Swiss Chronograph from the thrift store for an absolute steal.
Nice list! Im a big Hamilton fan. Dont forget Citizen in your list as they are great value leader. Thanks
Perfect video for me as a 17 year old! I really enjoy your content! You have made me a real watch nerd haha, Thanks :)
Thanks TGV!
Another great video! I think a review of the Bulova Moon watch would be fun. Not a huge Bulova fan but that watch seems to be very cool.
Thank you James,
Great recommendations. I certainly will try and put a Ball watch in part 2, such amazing watches, loved the ones I reviewed.
Best regards,
TGV
The Aerospace is a very interesting choice, it has a backlight, it has day and date, chronograph and countdown timer, alarm, second time zone, and believe me or not it has minute repeater 😀
HA, just received my GSAR a week ago. Love it to bits. I like the feeling of knowing 100% that it would never let me down.
Hi TGV
What a magnificent choice of cool watches.
Or the Junghans Max Bill - ohh, you really can't go wrong with that one👍
Nevertheless; I have never been able to forget the Glycine Airman with the "negative" loome which you tested way back. This tool watch thing never seems to end - fortunately, after all😂
Thank you, and keep up the good work.
Awesome video, thank you!
Love the video!
As someone who loves Bauhus design I always eyeing on that Max Bill. Still saving my money though.
Great video once again !! I'm saving up for a vintage omega F300, love them. Also the fortis looks really interesting. Keep up the great work governor
Great vid! Thank you for opening my eyes to Fortis.
Great choices my man, would also offer the Oris ProPilot (41mm). Such a clean aesthetic, and a true strap monster to boot --
YESSSSSS! Spot on, thank you sir, I will certainly add the ProPilot to part 2!
Nice one indeed, thank you.
Best regards,
TGV
Agreed, love Oris. Definitely on my short list...
Views on the IWC pilot? A classic watch that doesn't get mentioned much on your wonderful channel, same with Vostok!!!
I would love to se a review of the IWC pilot chronograph! One of my favourite watches!
Glycine No 1 is the 36mm airman. They have it as a GMT model with a regular 12 hr hand + a GMT hand as well as the purist model with just the 24 hr hand.
That was fantastic! I love it. Thank you. I've wanted that watch because of Arnold!
I dig this channel!
Great video TGV! That Hamilton X-Patrol jumped out at me and I'm on the hunt for one of those now!
