The Wrath and the Dawn is the book that inspired me to start my blog when it first came out. I loved it so so much that I wanted to share all of my feeling so I created a BTEC blogger blog to write my own review, and helped jump start my love for book blogging, booklr, bookstragram, and now booktube! :)

Glad you enjoyed it! Personally I hated it haha the whole romance just seemed ridiculous to me, since she started falling for him even when she still thought he was a total monster 😶

I recently read this book and for the most part it was an okay read. I didn't really connect with the characters at first. I also found that Shazi changed her mind about Khalid a bit too easily. However, from the moment Khalid makes his big confession to Shazi the story turned for me and I really liked the last part of the book, so I'll definitely be picking up the sequel.
    Great review, btw!

I really loved your review! I thought it really encompassed all the exciting elements of the book! I completely agree with your thoughts about Shazi and Khalid's relationship and Tariq's view of Shazi.

I haven't actually read this, and normally I don't watch many book reviews, but after hearing you talk about it in your reading every day for 3o days vlog, I found myself really interested. This was a fantastic review and has convinced me to give the book a go! Thanks for sharing your excitement! :D

I feel pretty much exactly the same as you do about this book. I got so invested in the storyline and the characters and the relationships in a way that I haven't in a very long time - especially Shazi and Khalid! In my opinion, The Rose and the Dagger isn't as good as The Wrath and the Dawn, but it's still amazing and a pretty satisfying ending to the series. Hope you're able to read book 2 soon. Great video, Caz! :)

I'm glad you enjoyed this book so much! I also adored this duology despite any problems it had. I think the second book was a little disappointing because it doesn't really answer my questions or develop the world as much as I would've liked but it was still a lot of fun to read.

I really didnt connect to the romance between Khalid and Shazi, I just didnt find it believable. I'm also not a big fan of either of them as characters, but maybe it'll grow on me more... I want to read the next book just to see what Tariq is gunna do! But also loved Jahlal's character 😄

The way you describe this story it reminds me of the movie One Night with the King. It's a retelling of the biblical story of Esther. And at first she is upset she's taken as a possible bribe for the king but she meets him and starts to get to know him better and they fall in love but she hasn't told him she's a Jew. And after they marry (don't worry it's not a spoiler is happens in the beginning) a lot of political stuff goes down involving the Jews and this hate group and it puts a damper in the relationship between Esther and the king. I think you would enjoy the movie since you love this book. And if you watch warning there will be feels.

I really liked this book as well! I had seen a few reviews which mentioned the Insta love aspect to it, so I was fully prepared to not enjoy this one as much as I did. But the characters totally won me over, Tariq excepted. I loved the descriptions and yes - I totally fell for that romance too ❤️

I've ordered 'Flame in the Mist' by Renee Adieh because Mulan, but I've been pretty hesitant to read this, a) because it seems so romance centric and b) I grew up loving the original 1001 nights. Might give it a go.

thewrathandthedawn IS one of THE BEST! book I have EVER REEEAD! Hands down. The Rose and the Dagger though... is meh :p The Wrath and the Dawn just opened up this whole new level of book expectations and The Rose and the Dagger will either surpass that or not. Guess not.

Warning: don't make the mistake of listening to the audiobook. The narration was... blah, for lack of a better word. The lackluster narration was really unfortunate to what is otherwise a very compelling story.
