    I've watched maybe 2 dozen of your videos probably more but they are always informative and you never rush through which makes them much easier to follow and apply to other types of repairs and trouble shooting. You are a master of your trade and I thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    35:05 so I know now, what is the worst punishment for Sorin:
    - to order and replace lcd cable
    - solder new/used capacitor (in place of shorted one)
    -solder new fuse (instead of make a bridge with one thin wire, taken from powersuply cable)
    -solder new first mosfet (after power connector) (instead of make a bridge with solder)
    -remove rosin after soldering

    Sorin nice laptop to fix.
    Little cleaner and new key board. Solder 3 more wire it’s now a proper calibrated fuse I think. Thanks for the update

    Sorin, the Steven Spielberg of Electronic repair videos....I don't know why, but I felt more happy than Sorin when the screen turned on, like AHA!!!, u See!!!, he fixed it and it worked even with 1 wire only.... A Joy to watch as susual.😀😀

    Incredible job Sorin! I truelly love you! You just shown how a totally dead laptop, become a usable and almost pefect laptop, with zero money spent.
    I mean yeah, the troubleshooting has a cost, but indeed, that backlight solution is for me, a real badass fix!

    Sorin, I have to congratulate you keeping your enthusiasm alive for electronics after years in the trade. Its a lesson for all of us. Your fault finding logic and teaching are impeccable. The cheap single wire fix for the display with optional "room heating"...wonderful. :)

    The problem with that repair is that is not your laptop. Also the customer doesn't know about the back ass repair. If you were to call your customer and give them the choice would be one thing but you always just do it. Not judging you, you just have a different way of doing things. Your a very good problem solver but knowing what I do I would never allow you to repair my property.

      @@daimio7 My issue isn't with his repairs. The issue is does the customer know about them. I've been fixing small electronics for 45 years and would never give a customer back a piece of equipment that wasn't one hundred percent back to it's manufactured state. I like Sorin and think he has a lot of talent but doing that kind of thing is ok for your stuff but not someone that isn't aware.

    thanks. Work like all home made masters. today repair is to expensive for customer, and for master, parts and time, is a one of issue. master can sell a repaired product. scales between the customer and the master for money

    ASUS TUF is actually the worst gaming laptop from my experience as a technician. Too many faulty devices specially from the series "TUF".

    I've been waiting for the day when you repaired a laptop that I have and you've taken me for an electronics tour of something that I may have to fix one day too! I learned a couple of tricks in this video, thank you. I think I would've given up thinking the screen was trashed and binned the whole thing.

    it would be better to you purchased it at start and than fixed it and made for self gaming laptop to sell if for some rly good money :) even to it was dead there was alot of expensive parts on it which you would sell for much more :)

    ALL YOU NEED TO IS CLEAN THE KEYBOARD AND THE REST TAKE KEYBOARD OFF CLEAN WITH SIMPLE GREEN RINSE WITH DISTILLED WATER LET DRY 24 HOURS. GOOD AS NEW.

    This was entertaining to watch. It's a $900 laptop (new) so $40-$60 for a keyboard, solder the wires & you're good. Maybe throw in some hot glue for good measure. 😂 (kidding....)

      it's a 5 years old budget gaming laptop, so it's worth about $400-$450 max, for $900 you can buy brand new gaming laptop with RTX 3060

    looks like that keyboard is heat-staked in, so that means no screws but melting pegs to take it out and put a new one in - pain in the arse

    Very good job as always, still I can't quite understand how did you get away with injecting voltage with swapped polarity (@9:20) .. was it the reverse voltage protection diode who saved the main board?

    Asus gaming laptop are notorious for either shorted mosfets or caps. I would not buy one of their laptops.

    I don't know how you've gone so long without a thermal camera. That hot wire would've taken ages to spot without it! Great job as always Sorin.

      He would never become what he is now, if he had thermal camera since beginning. Dont use thermal if you want to learn electronics and troubleshooting, otherwise if there is no heat, you will not be able to fix anything.

      From his video i saw him using his own hand to test the heat since he didn't have thermal camera at that video.

    A ultrasonic bath for keyboard won't be able to fix it?
    It might have some short from water damage deposits and a ultrasonic bath might get rid of the mineral deposits from water.

    The explanation for the failure analysis is unquestionable, which led us to the successful and inexpensive repair of that laptop. In my daily tasks I prefer to use a cheap external keyboard (more accessible to me). Thank you very much for your time and sharing. All the best.

    Have been using this laptop for the past 4 years. it's always been a great machine. Never had any issues with it. it's pretty solid and mine is on liquid metal. so I change it every year.

    @electronicsrepairschool, Sorin, why dont you have a large magnet nearby or small neo-dynium magnet on the end of screwdriver tip??? it's so handy for keeping tiny screws from being lost and also for extracting the screws that turn but won't lift out.

    How do you get away with only using one of them wires? Anyway add a small external keyboard and an SSD and get a decent laptop. Depending on the spec turn it into a desktop get a screen cable and save screen for a future repair.

    Please Sorin, can shorted mosfet caused the indicator light of the charger to go off when plugged in. It is a Dell laptop anyway.

    You could off other wires from keyboard membrane leaving two for power and the customer would have a working laptop, and he could just buy a cheap keyboard for it. Even though if he could afford a gaming laptop he could also afford a good keyboard.

    my asus 505dt dead and unable to findout why ? Please let me know to proceed further. My repair assistant is telling me to replace the motherboard. But Im not sure how to proceed further.

    Haha looks dodgy but that's such a small current, soldering wires will do just fine... A bit of hot glue and it will be more rigid than the original connector :D
