Recently i had a really challenging case on my bench where the the DrMOS was welded with a few board layers and it was necessary to dremel the short out of the board. After the restauration of the tracks and replacing all related DrMOS it turned out the GPU is working absolutely fine, like from factory.

Hello Sorin! On my laptop (Lenovo Legion Y720) the HDMI/DPort port is only driven by the Nvidia video chip, the integrated Intel can only show picture on the built in screen. Learned it when i replaced the old battery to a identical looking one and the laptop kept shutting down when HDMI was connected/game started. The problem was the BMS in the new battery it was only able to deliver 5 amps while the original did 9.
If you measure voltage (mV) across coil while applying power supply to find a short you can exactly find one that is under load and a co0rresponding mosfet is dead.
Sorin put transparent plastic film at the screen around the screen and dont scrach the plastin. I dont know if i explend good. Just put some platic film around the display
Hello, I bought MSI Gaming laptop 4 years ago, bought the warranty for a year. After like 14 months, something on my GPU shorted out. It caused massive BSOD crashes somehow even after disabling GPU in device manager. I sent it to MSI Tech Center in my country, explained to them to inspect my GPU because it's not working properly and they sent it back with a lovely word "Repaired" One advice for people reading this comment? If you want to game, buy PC, not a laptop. And definitely not MSI, if not overheating then shortening chips/mosfets.

Why don't you use your own test SSD? I have a sata and PCI-e one and planning to get an external USB one too. Good luck getting an actual working GPU or CPU for this. They're not cheap and you have no idea if it's actually good or not. It's not worth the risk and possibly losing your money because Aliexpress decides to side with the seller and you also get no refund.
@JustInspired Fallout fine but the thing is we should make a problem with msi nvidea on those big companies bcz of them they are not selling gpus and cpus spare parts and the laptop is not functioning mor than 1 year
It makes me sick as an IT Security Tech is that people complain when you clean their laptop during repair. I get alot of dirty/filthy laptops in for basic upgrades or diagnostics and i refuse to work on them until they are clean. I use a microfiber cloth with just plain water to completely clean the unit before i begin my repairs. I have NOT gotten a complaint yet but if i do, i'll tell them that i cleaned the laptop with items that will not cause ANY damage. I just can't work on a filthy laptop.
I used to work at a shop repairing them. And one think I always got told. Is wear gloves or clean them .basically you don't what people have been doing on that laptop or where there hands have been if you get my drift.. we used to see a lot of content in there Web history and blue videos lol

After maybe 1 week of this issue and just gave up and never booted back up so.. My guess is something shorted inside :(( oh well was lucky enough i had money to buy a new cyborg 15.. But it seems a lot of MSI laptops tend to short after 2 - 3 years of life

so as a speculation example
maybe now the gpu can only do around 50% usage at max core clock speed and needs to be limited depending from app to app

Update, I got it to turn on again and screen to come on but it's stuck in bios . Any help ??
connect Hdmi to external monitor ,if worked your GPU shall be fine
We should start changing cpu and gpu and pch for these laptops
I just can't work on a filthy laptop.
same like me, whenever I repair a desktop PC and it's full of dust and dirty
I always cleaned it first, at least with a blower
I used to work at a shop repairing them. And one think I always got told. Is wear gloves or clean them .basically you don't what people have been doing on that laptop or where there hands have been if you get my drift.. we used to see a lot of content in there Web history and blue videos lol
You should wear mask also!
This laptop is dirty, lots of dust.😮
Yikes, the keyboard/display was filthy. Gamer needs to lay off the donuts and hot pockets.
Just so that you can be as grossed-out as me, that flaky stuff that fell out of the keyboard and onto the screen... yeah that's skin flakes from the user.
Give the customer a brush and a alcohol 🧻and they clean themself before you take it. Bacteria 🦠 clean
gpu cant repear !!
Omg

Lptop is a health hazard. Are you sure you don't want to clean it?
My msi katana shorted.. It started with it just randomly shutting down and not turning on for hours i had to reset the battery for it to boot up again.. After maybe 1 week of this issue and just gave up and never booted back up so.. My guess is something shorted inside :(( oh well was lucky enough i had money to buy a new cyborg 15.. But it seems a lot of MSI laptops tend to short after 2 - 3 years of life
good grose... what disgusting people are out there, that doesn't even clean their shit before they send it out for repair.... man, i don't want to see that home where this thing is used. 10th gen isn't that old, how tf can you break this hinge so fast... just terrible...
But Sorin, the integrated Intel Graphics is in the CPU since Core i series started. It's not in the nothbridge anymore.
ngl imma get old and repair my laptop myself my country laptop repair shops are nothing but fckin scams i already got scammed like 7000 rs already
