I liked unlimited way more. i feel if every episode is a 2 parter, make it an hour long show. dont make me struggle as a kid in the early 2000's to watch both halves of the show when a network never airs them in order on. on binge watch yeah i prefer season 1/2 but on casual watch no way.
@Ninja Snipez i only brought it up because in the video they completely ignore marvels that existed already. DC didn't pave the way decades before marvel did it was maybe a year or 2 later from Btas
watched Super Friends regularly when I was a kid in the 80’s. XMen TAS in the early 90’s too was-just like XMen comics-hugely popular, especially Wolverine. But Batman TAS has for me the darkest yet deepest and most poignant story lines of all. Justice League and JL Unlimited were interesting shows but at the time I was no longer into comics that much (until those recent MCU movies came long.)
I think the secret ingredient is that the DCAU was always small enough to fail. From Batman to Static to JLU, it was always understood that this season could be its last. The budget could get cut or WB might take the franchise in some other direction. Compare that with their cinematic efforts where it is an axiom of Hollywood there will be a new Batman movie regardless of need. Where the Justice League movie can rake in $800 mil and still be considered a failure. Justice League is a masterpiece in the true sense of the word. Artists and creatives who spent years honing their craft getting to do what they want. My favorite scene was when Batman "unmasks" himself, Supes and Flash. Because of course he would.
My favorite Justice League moment was almost shown in this video, when flash says that his identity a secret because chixdiggit and then Batman turns around and outs all of them to what their real identity is.
One of my favorite JL moments is probably from the premiere when the Imperium arrives on earth and it has J’onn in its gross tentacles and J’onn pulls it into the light and Carl Lumbly delivers this iconic line and he says, “Does the sunlight burn your putrid skin?!?”
Theres no doubt that the DCAU was extremely influential and without it we wouldn't have gotten things like The Incredibles, or the MCU among countless other cartoon series like MCAU , Gargoyles, Big O, Cyber 6, Samurai Jack, and more.
Hammil also voiced the Trickster who looked a lot like him ... In Justice League Action they make a joke of this by having Hammil himself kidnapped by the Joker and the Trickster and him getting away by mimicking their voices and getting them to turn on each other.
The DCAU told a better suicide squad story than the DCCU, in under 30 minutes. I loved DC growing up, so it’s very frustrating that they can’t seem to get it together despite having *the* iconic superheroes.
The DCEU got off to a rocky start but they're fine. WW, Aquaman and Shazam were good films, and with WW1984, James Gunn's Suicide Squad, The Batman, Black Adam, Shazam 2 and finally The Flash on deck I think they'll be fine.
it wasn't mentioned by the host, but the intro for Justice League Unlimited is GREAT! both the music and the visuals were a great improvement over the original . Plus the fact that even more of the additional heroes/villains from various DC comics were included... I guess making it even more nostalgic like the original super friends...
Double date episode(s?) with Green Arrow, Black Canary, Huntress, and the muhfuggin QUESTION. THAT was dope. In fact, everything they did with the Question was just... wow. Love this show. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Do you remember "Liquid Television" on MTV? This was a trippy half hour show that mixed animation & live action segments; This is where many were introduced to "Aeon Flux". I vaguely remember an ongoing skit called "Dog Boy". Please make this a future "Things You Didn't Know "
Favorite moment in JL animation history? When super mean best the brakes off of mongul on his birthday. Favorite standalone series moment? Superman making darkseid blow his own head up when he covered his eyes as he shot his omega beams

I wish Bruce Timm would create a Marvel series in the style of the Justice League/Batman TAS, etc. One cartoon from him would be better then any Marvel cartoon that they've put out in the past decade. Also......a future crossover would be amazing.
I liked unlimited way more. i feel if every episode is a 2 parter, make it an hour long show. dont make me struggle as a kid in the early 2000's to watch both halves of the show when a network never airs them in order on. on binge watch yeah i prefer season 1/2 but on casual watch no way.
Thanagarian invasion, The nightnare episode with dr destiny and "epilogue" are my 3 favorites.
3:23 The Savage Time and Starcrossed were also 3 part episodes...
DCAU begin basically the same time as marvels animated one in the 90's
@Ninja Snipez i only brought it up because in the video they completely ignore marvels that existed already. DC didn't pave the way decades before marvel did it was maybe a year or 2 later from Btas
Man this took me back. Thank you guys great video.
watched Super Friends regularly when I was a kid in the 80’s.
This was life to me as a 2000s kid 💯🙏🏽
Just discovered your channel and it is very good! Subscribed
10:59 Oh come on dude, that theme song was from 2003 Teen Titans, not 2013 Teen Titans GO!
Because of course he would.
dc just wrapped their direct to video animated universe with justice league dark: apacalypse.
My favorite Justice League moment was almost shown in this video, when flash says that his identity a secret because chixdiggit and then Batman turns around and outs all of them to what their real identity is.
🤣 I CRACKED up when Flash switched bodies with Lex Luthor and he excused not washing his hands with that he's evil!
One of my favorite JL moments is probably from the premiere when the Imperium arrives on earth and it has J’onn in its gross tentacles and J’onn pulls it into the light and Carl Lumbly delivers this iconic line and he says, “Does the sunlight burn your putrid skin?!?”
Also any time Diana said, “Little man”
I know there are dozens of trivia about JL but I say you did a great Justice about the team in this video
Best intro ever was New Batman Adventures by far!! So much more epic than any other intro. I FEEL YOU, BRO!!!
Pffft! Best intro music? Easy. Justice League Unlimited. That guitar intro was, and still is, the best music of any comic-book based series ever.
That Doctor Destiny episode was probably my favorite episode of JL
The DCAU told a better suicide squad story than the DCCU, in under 30 minutes. I loved DC growing up, so it’s very frustrating that they can’t seem to get it together despite having *the* iconic superheroes.
The DCEU got off to a rocky start but they're fine. WW, Aquaman and Shazam were good films, and with WW1984, James Gunn's Suicide Squad, The Batman, Black Adam, Shazam 2 and finally The Flash on deck I think they'll be fine.
Batman beyond theme song is my favorite, close 2nd JLU.
it wasn't mentioned by the host, but the intro for Justice League Unlimited is GREAT! both the music and the visuals were a great improvement over the original . Plus the fact that even more of the additional heroes/villains from various DC comics were included... I guess making it even more nostalgic like the original super friends...
Superman against Mongol on World War are my two favorite episodes.. Loved it
Double date episode(s?) with Green Arrow, Black Canary, Huntress, and the muhfuggin QUESTION.
THAT was dope. In fact, everything they did with the Question was just... wow. Love this show. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
That Justice League Unlimited theme....those guitars man....damn they hit the right way.
My favorite Justice League episodes are A knight of Shadows, Eclipsed, Wild Cards, Legends, The once and the future part 1,2, Divided We Fall, Ancient history.
The way you articulated this episode made me want to subscribe to your channel..... Ohh wait I already am I tried to subscribe twice it wouldn't let me. The line when you said " representations matter" it the true!!
Having a episodes with only a few heroes was a throwback to the Super Friends format
You should totally do Big Guy & Rusty the Boy Robot! I've been trying to find those episodes everywhere for years. Great comic, but I vaguely remember the show.
You forgot Robert Picardo (ST: VOY's The Doctor, Stargate's Richard Woolsey) as Amazo
Do you remember "Liquid Television" on MTV? This was a trippy half hour show that mixed animation & live action segments; This is where many were introduced to "Aeon Flux". I vaguely remember an ongoing skit called "Dog Boy". Please make this a future "Things You Didn't Know "
EYDK: Superman The Animated Series
Best theme? Justice League: Unlimited. That was my ringtone for a good while lol. So good 💯💯🔥🔥
SYFY WIRE GREAT, NOW YOU NEED TO HAVE Or BATMAN ANIMATED SERIES, last airbender or the Clone Wars
I’m sure Nickelodeon has that on there channel. Wouldn’t really count TLA as “SyFy”.
Favorite moment in JL animation history? When super mean best the brakes off of mongul on his birthday.
Favorite standalone series moment? Superman making darkseid blow his own head up when he covered his eyes as he shot his omega beams
THE JUSTICE LORDS EPISODES WERE AMONG MY FAVORITE JUSTICE LEAGUE EPISODES. IT WAS BOTH ACTION PACKED AS WELL AS DRAMATIC.
Great video!! My son and I used to love this show and the Unlimited version that came next. We also played with the action figures (including the jet and Tower) for hours. I still have all four seasons on DVD. I’ve often said I wish the suits in charge of making the movies would allow these writers to create the stories for their movies. Marvel would stop laughing at them.
"Flash and Substance" aka "Flash Appreciation Day" is my favorite JL episode
I think it is really cool that the same person who voiced Martian manhunter in Justice league, played his father in Supergirl
I really wish the 90s cartoon writers were the ones making the modern DC Hollywood movies.
