Thank you very much for talking about thermals extensively. Over the last few years, the only thing that has been keeping me from owning a gaming laptop for more than a week at a time is the thermals (I keep returning them). I understand the laws of physics have limits, but the power draw of the last few generations of GPUs, screens, and CPUs (especially Intel) has been so high with cooling that has not come close to handling it that I really hesitate to even say a gaming laptop is truly portable because they near thermal throttling so consistently its absurd. I dont even care about fan noise, its just so hot depending on the frame you can almost burn yourself, and components arent made to tolerate these conditions extensively. It's like they do the bare minimum to make sure the computer is even able to boot for more than an hour of use. This isnt a problem exclusive to Razer, as its something Ive personally experianced with Lenovo, Dell, Asus, and MSI as well, and theres probably more guilty parties. The more nice features I see in a laptop in today's day, the more unlikely Im looking to buy it because I know its just going to be unreliable. I hate to be that guy, but unless you really need a machine to game in several different areas all the time, with all rooms having outlets, I dont understand why youd buy something like this over a desktop
Woooooooaaaaaaah! I haven't watched your videos since a long time ago cause i didn't need any new tech and had some important things to do for school. But your subs have really skyrocketed from before, nice going. Get better soon.
I bought the 1440p, RTX3070, 240hz. This is my first gaming computer ever, I tried to educate myself on gaming specs and this is the laptop I decided to go with. Money is not an issue for me as long as the item is worth the price. I only hope that I made the right choice and that I will be reliable.
Just bought this laptop on sale from best buy since it's now a year old for a price of $2300 (open-box) which makes it more than worth it for build quality. The 3k MSRP was a bit outrageous. I don't expect to hit 360hz on most games but it's nice to have the ability to range from 144-240hz with ease. Thanks for the great review!
There are some half off msrp sales for even the 3080ti models right now. I've always wanted to try out a razer laptop, but that super shallow travel keyboard would drive me nuts. To many years with nice mechanical keyboards have spoiled me.
Should have covered synapse and weather or not you had everything optimized for gaming. Windows needs to be optimized for ultimate performance, Nvidia CP needs to be optimized for maximum performance as well as synapse needs to be in performance mode and the display itself (which can only be changed in synapse) needs to be set to 360hz. Lastly it needs to be plugged in of course. The fact that you didn't cover this really makes me question if you even know about these things and had them all enabled or set up correctly. Can't take this video seriously. I have the 2018 advanced model and that thing is a beast! There is no ay you had it set up correctly, IMO.
How was editing and rendering different videos on it? did you try it.....im wondering if the battery just tanks when using Premier Pro...Great Video Man!
You should compare this with the razer blade stealth 13. They are obviously very different laptops but I am curious to see how they stack up, especially value-wise. I'm debating between the razer blade and blade stealth for myself for school and gaming and I can't decide which I want
About the heat, it's probably cos the Razer Blade uses a full alluminium chassis, which is a great conductor of heat. The plus side is it's less likely to crack like plastic. I think you might need an external keyboard with this to game. I wonder if a cooling pad might help as well. I'm eyeing the razer myself cos I need something durable and portable for if i get stuck in quarantine or a hospital for a long period. My first gaming laptop was an Asus TUF which started tearing along the monitor side after a year, coming apart at the monitor cover seams over time and eventually collapsing in one corner around 2 and a half years later, killing the display. No more plastic laptops for me. Alienware and Lenovo use magnesium alloy but i heard that can crack as well.
I really do think that the 3080 cannot hit 360fps constant on ultra on games. But if youre playing a lot lower end games kind of like rocket league or valorant (on ultra settings), you will hit 360fps.
@@TheTechne same as the model you have! Didn't opt for the QHD. But I agree 100% with your review. I knew what I was getting into choosing this machine. I wanted something sleek, but that can perform heavy loads (labs, games, etc.). But the games I play are Fortnite/League so I see the FPS come into play there. Tripple A titles, not so much, but its good to know that I can run it.
@Laurel Seroen happy to give my input. I'm not sure which one mine has but it's the 3070 advanced with 360 hz. Since it's not a QHD panel I don't think either option will make much of a difference to be honest. In terms of performance it's a monster, but keep in mind to fully take advantage of the 360hz it needs to be plugged in. Battery life is sub par; you have to play with the settings a lot, but you can squeeze out 7 or 8 hours. But I usually leave somewhat close to performance mode off battery and it'll last me around 2/3. Also, what sold me on the laptop is upgradibility; I can upgrade both sticks of RAM and add SSD storage. Nothing is sodered on. Hope this helps!
@Laurel Seroen That I did not know! I thought 1440 vs 1080 was a standard FHD panel. Didn't realize that 1440 meant QHD. But now that you say that, QHD would have been a real nice bonus. I have the FHD panel and its not bad tbh, brightness is good. But if the QHD panel comes with 360 HZ I'd say def. do it!
@Laurel Seroen Of course, more than happy to chime in on my experience with my for the past 1.5 years. And yes you're exactly right! The screen is actually impressive as well as the speakers. LIke you said you typically notice the 360HZ on first person shooters, but like you I like to have my stuff future proof. So I think the 1080P is the right choice for you. Nonetheless, you'll love it! I certainly do!
I you the same laptop for my self for around half a year now and i have to say the price is still a bit to high I think but the performance you get out of it when plugged in is nearly the same as desktop pc every game on highest settings no problem i love it.. And yeah it gets a bit hot but not so hot it would hurt or something good to keep your hands warm
I'm stuck between the RTX 3089 1080p or 1440p version. Which one should I go with? Note: Will be using it for mainly for MMORPG where there's 1000s of people's.
Hey for apart from comfort for gaming and music which headphone should I buy among Corsair hs60 pro and razer blackshark v2x pls suggest me IAM in great confusion
I know this question has nothing to do with video you just uploaded but how much is a difference between the arcris 9 and the pro wireless? I got a used pro wireless from ebay for 190. I bought many things from this seller so I fully trust him but I just want to hear your opinion
I bought this laptop from amazon. Loudest laptop I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't focus on the games. that's why i returned it. Also, the camera isn't even 144p.
I was thinking about getting this laptop but NOBODY in youtube have done this review with the exact same specs. God bless you man... love your videos btw. Very good quality!!!
Have the same model but my shit just flickers while gaming at 360hz I am apparently not the only one too. Also QHD 240 people complaining too..but this is an early 2021 on a basic bios update.
The laptops cannot get as much power to the GPU as the desktops can. And the desktops can cool better than a laptop. Hence, the GPU can never hit its max potential in a laptop. Personally, I question the value and practicality of putting a 3080 in a laptop. IMO, I am better off using a 3070 in a laptop. You get a major reduction in cost with only a very small reduction in performance.
No gaming laptop will give you 7 hours (or even two hours) of Call of Duty. Come on, Techne, that’s the case with any gaming laptop. Otherwise it’d have a battery the size of another laptop. A video loop test on UA-cam or Netflix is more realistic. I’ve kept a profile on Throttlestop for my Blade for battery life and I can get 6 hours or so (although I have the early 2019 Advanced model). Also buying any gaming laptop at MSRP when it’s just released is a huge mistake - you always get gaming laptops at discounts at certain points in the year. I got mine for $1899 (i7-8750H/2070 Max-Q, MSRP $2399) 5-6 months after release, it will be the same case wi this one once Intel 11th gen 45W parts release, and the Blade gets refreshed.
Screen looks good cause of higher ppi at 1080p 15 inches compared to a 24 or 27 inch 1080p monitor. Tons of bottlenecking with this version tho. Also razer not being known for reliability and being $4k+ Canadian is absurd. Battery will last 2 hours gaming on a full charge after a year, heating issues as most thin gaming laptops have and super mini itx builds. Utter waste of money. For that price there should be OLED screen, better speakers, heat issues sorted out, etc..the amount of profit these companies are tryna make on everything is crazy and the people stupid enough to spend money on something like this is the reason their profit margins are so high.
I personally don't think it's worth $3,000.00. You made some great pointers in this video like, it's very hot🔥 and the battery life is a huge plus, because it died fast and the screen, 1080p on a $3,000 laptop no way.
