I'm enjoying these videos. I had a 3 neck electric once, 12 string on top, 7 string in the middle and a 6 string on the bottom. Took an hour and a half to restring.
Keep up the good work!
Do you have any photos of it? I’d love to see it!
@@ThomTranOnline Found a pic to send! Where do I send?
@@runabout76awesome! DM me on IG! @_thomtran. I have no idea how to DM on UA-cam, if you can at all.
You’re quickly becoming one of my favorite UA-camrs. The Richie guitars got me… I have 4, including the black paisley and the Ovation, but I have the 2018 one. But I caught me here was your story… you first have an Alvarez 12-string. Hahah, me too!
Thanks! Working on a Sambora Strat comparison video. Just gotta get my hands on a Version 1 & a Mexican Strat. 🤔
The Song Remains the Same. That was played on Page's Gibson double neck during live performances, followed by The Rain Song on the six string with that weird tuning he used.
Hey Thom,
So far I have really enjoyed your 3 videos on Richie's guitars. I too am a huge fan of RS and have had the pleasure to meet him twice and perform with him once. Like yourself I have the Ovation CSD225 and I love it. I've often wondered if I could switch the necks to be like RS's but alas it can't be done.
FYI there is a Chinese company that makes a copy of RS's Taylor double neck WITH the 6 string on top. It's not bad but the bouts are smaller dimensions and therefore necks are closer together which makes tuning harder. I'm swapping out the electronics on it but you can order it w/o electronics and then put in your own later.
Awesome! Thanks man! I’ve got a few more RS episodes either in the can or in production. Thanks for watching. I’ve got a funny story about his black RSE-225 that I’ll tell one day. Cheers!
Stories like this make me wish I had started collecting guitars 15-20 years ago. Prices have gone up so much in a rather short period. What an amazing find!
Great finds are always around the corner. Literally got one last week!
In 1995 I was browsing Denmark Street in London and saw a richie sambora double neck black with star inlays. I assume there was a run of them or it was one if his. So when in 2018 it was re-released as a signature model I jumped on it. I love it.
I don’t think they did a run of the black ones until 2018 so that MAY have been one of his! How do you like the RS series Doubleneck? Keep meaning to get one but space is limited at the moment.
Stairway to heaven and Hotel California. I play both of them. Wow what a deal. What a beautiful guitar I want one.👍🏼👍🏼😁❤️🎸
Nice cover of Born to be my abe acoustic!
Thanks! Hope you like the series!
i currently own a harley benton 612 double neck - and i'm looking at getting a CSE225
I didn’t know HB made a 6/12! I’ve gotta check it out! How does it play? Do you like it?
It would be great to hear the Richie Sambora signature guitars specs.
Having had both versions the cse and the csd double necks. I have to say that the build quality of the cse225 with the triangle inlays is better. The craftsmanship and overall fit and finish was much nicer, to me had better tone as well but that could be a stretch. It played easier for sure.
That’s great info to have! Thanks for sharing! I’ve never gotten to play any of the other double necks so it’s good to hear from someone with first hand experience!
Are used to have an Ibanez double neck cherry read like Jimmy pages. It was beautiful I sold it it was too heavy and my wife had cancer so I had to sell that to help pay for her medical bills. It was heavy, but I loved that guitar maybe an acoustic will be a little bit lighter. Thanks again for the video..👍🏼👍🏼😁
Damn, yeah, sometimes so you gotta sell gear for a greater good. Hope you get a replacement one day! Enjoy the rest of the series. 🤘🏼🎸🖖🏼
Sweet guitar! I have an Adamas 12 and an Ovation 6. I just saw one of these for sale locally (CSE based on the pictures) for $1300. I had to look it up and see what happens when you put the two together!
That sounds about market value at the moment. It’s a great guitar!
Sick episode man you deserve more views. Absolutely loved watching your Sambora stuff. Please keep the Richie stuff going. I'd love to hear a bit more about his Kramer deal in the 80's and his famous guitars from that era. Cheers man
Thanks, man! I hope you like the rest of the series. I’m working on another Sambora episode by popular demand! That’ll be out… ummmm… soon? Got a few other episodes schedule. Trying to do a Kramer episode. Gotta get my hands one!
Love, love, love this episode! The first guitar I ever bought with my own money was an Applause 6-string acoustic, and I always wished I could afford an Ovation. So those weird, round guitars have always had a place in my heart.
But for the love of the gods, you used to be in the army. How could you *not* pronounce epaulette? 😂
Miss ya buddy. Need to jam when you’re down here again.
For sure, man!! Miss ya, too
Neat guitar, looks like it would slide off your lap though!!
Almost!
How much does that weigh? I'm going with 15 pounds.
I think it clocked in at about 10 lbs.
