Explanation for 14:03 The kanji in the level is 草, meaning “grass” and pronounced kusa. So, for a very long time, Japanese people have been using “w” as shorthand for laughter because the words 笑う (warau, “smile”) and 笑い (warai, “laugh”) both begin with W. And similar to how we in English will use lololololol to show a lot of laughter, Japanese people will use wwwwwwww. A few years ago, someone came to the conclusion that a bunch of Ws like that looks an awful lot like grass, so they began using 草 as an equivalent to lol. This caught on and very rapidly spread through the Japanese internet.
Hey Carl. Just wanted to say that I've watched your videos for years and you never disappoint with new uploads. Keep of the good work, you're absolutely awesome.
@@Turbovolver Yes, only because it makes sense to focus a lot on the rhythm in the gameplay, when the level is specifically a music level. But some GD levels are more focused on the rhythm than others.
You have absolutely become my comfort streamer! whenever i feel down, i can fall back on your videos and have an amazing little distraction from thinking. thank you for all the amazing comtent, you're bettering lives :)
Hey Carl - a comment you made during your video - about platforming games whose levels were more integrated with music... Electronic Super Joy might be up your alley. Also, Beat Hazard, which is more of a bullet-hell 2d space shooter like Galaga and Asteroids combined, with boss fights, takes music from you own library and procedurally generates the enemy spawn patterns and such. You'd probably have a good time with both.
Hope you’re doing well Carl! The videos arrive when they arrive! You have a lovely community that will always be patient and put your well being way before content
oh yeah, that makes sense as well. I don't know why I just assumed it was an inversion of the norm XD Maybe because people tend to just use W for a win? idk@@ChrisMMaster0
That made me laugh. To be fair, most likely nearly everyone did enjoy the level, so we probably were feeling appreciation for the creator at that moment and he anticipated this 😁👍
That music level had the actual platforming a lot more synced to the music that usual, IMO. And that's not easy to do. Reminds me of that really old video of an automatic SMW level, under the name "nico nico douga automatic Mario", which I just had to go back and rewatch now. The Wily Castle 2 music starts at 5:57.
As SOON as you said nitrogen i was like triple bond triple bond triple bond triple bond triple bond triple bond triple bond triple bond triple bond triple bond
So weird. I am a chemist. And my supplier was closed today cause its a fake holiday lol. And I desperately needed some nitric acid lol. Can't work without it! So I ended up going to target and buying like 10 packs of instant cold packs and threw it in a big flask and then threw in some sulfuric acid... distilled out some fuming nitric acid baby. So ur comment... it hit me deep bro. HNO3 baby
I like that at 06:47 or so, you can see the blocks are P-switchable and the thwomp-ball is channeling you into that area, it's giving the player the impression that they're about to be hit by a sudden p-switch and that the solution will be to hold onto the vines. Of course, if you hold onto the vines, the ball hits you.
14:00 Beside its internet slang-use for "lol", the irony is that 草 (kusa) also means 'grass', 'weed', or 'herb' depending on context. It's the famed double entendre!
Carl, there is a game that is music themed that is a fps. It's centered around metal and you fight demons or something. It's called Hellsinger. It's relatively short and, while it may not be a 2d platformer, it is still a pretty solid concept idea for 'music levels'.
With regard to nitrogen, the myccorrizhae (sp?) and bacteria do help with nitrogen fixation, but lightning in thunderstorms also ionizes the air a little which increases nitrogen availability to plants. That's why plants are typically greener after thunderstorms.
Another funky fact about nitrogen, some of the most unstable substances ever invented are centered around its innate preference to be triple bonded thanks to its particular arrangement of electron clouds. The most famous and longest historically used being nitroglycerin, and one of the most impractical being azidoazide azide as it spites its own existence upon creation.
30:00 A similar element I find fascinating when it comes to life is sodium. Pure sodium is extremely deadly for obvious reasons, but our bodies need sodium salts to survive, so our bodies always make sure the sodium is bonded to some other element(s). Go figure that Earth has Sodium Chloride readily available for life, allowing us to have a perfect candidate for safe sodium intake.
The great thing about N3, which is the nitrogen all around us, is that it can be broken 1 of 2 ways. Either by electrical strikes from lightning or by using heat, pressure and osmium to convert it to ammonium nitrate. The issue is that ammonium nitrate is heavily used for fertilizer and, when it reaches soil, water breaks it down converting some of it into nitrous oxide and creating a heavier impact on global warmth than methane and CO2 combined. It's roughly 7 times more potent than methane and hundreds times more potent than CO2. All we can do is laugh about it.
"I'm surprised nobody guessed single bond or double bond." 24:04 and especially 25:41 Though I guess they weren't specific guesses, just throwing a bunch out.
It's pretty crazy to think about the energy and physical stability comparisons of triple bonds vs. Other bonds. But when thinking about how nature puts the naturally occurring form of nitrogen to good use, it's exactly as Jeff Goldblum says in Jurassic Park "life, uh, finds a way". Such a necessary building block for life locked behind a triple bond
0:38 Already extremely sus. When there's an unavoidable red coin just before or just after a checkpoint (in this case, it would've been possible to skip the red coin the first time in but you'd unavoidably get it every time you respawned from CP1), that usually means there's gonna be a twice twice due to entity limit shenanigans. 14:06 REVENGE OF FIVE GOLDEN SWINGS!
I like how these content creators throw the words, "Japanese level," as a buzz word that actually means something as if they could tell the difference in the first place. I would genuinely like to see them take a blind test to see how they determine a, "Japanese," level other than the obvious region flags.
Explanation for 14:03

That's actually really interesting. Thanks for the fact.
Thank you internet stranger!
oh cool!!
was that katakuriko at the beginning 片栗粉? does it have some internet slang meaning?
Idk but Carl was told it meant 1up @@hikarustarr
That Sisyphus Plant anti is the funniest thing ive seen from a troll level in a long time.
It just kept going 😂
Planti-softlock
Not watched the video yet, and the lack of context in this comment has got me very excited for what is to come.
One must imagine piranha plant happy (And Green Mario dead).
That was great, very clever! 😄
Hey Carl. Just wanted to say that I've watched your videos for years and you never disappoint with new uploads. Keep of the good work, you're absolutely awesome.
Yes, the fact that the videos are long is great.
His enjoyment from this game is so good. Mario Maker may be the best game ever made for level creators
Same, first thing I did was catch up on all the old content, and its been a good ride since
Common Larl W
Facts, honestly imo he’s the only one that doesn’t feel like he’s being over the top and annoying lol, plus he’s hilarious lol
In this episode, Carl trolls himself a few times and then reinvents the concept of Geometry Dash
Carl: “Is there a game centered around building platformer music levels?”
Geometry Dash:
Mario Maker music levels are literally more of a rhythm game than Geometry Dash
@@Turbovolver Yes, only because it makes sense to focus a lot on the rhythm in the gameplay, when the level is specifically a music level. But some GD levels are more focused on the rhythm than others.
lmao came specifically to check if this comment was made.
I would kill to see Carl play Geometry Dash, especially after this latest update
Not so much building levels, but Mad Rat Dead is a fantastic rhythm platformer
14:05 That's the best anti I've ever seen lol
Yeah it's so good
What we really need.. A king bling anti competition.
That Dr Wily music level was maybe the best I've ever seen, REALLY using the player's movement and inputs as musical cues.
2:00 these double layered trolls are pretty clever. whether you hold jump or not it gets you. and then it gets you again because you do the opposite.
As soon as Carl said chemistry, my brain said mole…
You have absolutely become my comfort streamer! whenever i feel down, i can fall back on your videos and have an amazing little distraction from thinking. thank you for all the amazing comtent, you're bettering lives :)
What Carl wants is Geometry Dash, isn't it?

If Carl likes music levels, wait till he finds out about Geometry Dash
Hope you’re doing well Carl! The videos arrive when they arrive! You have a lovely community that will always be patient and put your well being way before content
I love that the music level says your welcome rather than thanks
or "You Win"
oh yeah, that makes sense as well. I don't know why I just assumed it was an inversion of the norm XD Maybe because people tend to just use W for a win? idk@@ChrisMMaster0

Of course, if you hold onto the vines, the ball hits you.
24:37 I think the intended solution here is that instead of a normal jump and then spinning midair you just spin on the ground.
Some of my favorite videos are Carl's Yoshi's Highland ones, the ones from like 2016, can't believe how much he's changed since that.
I think my favorite thing about that Tuta level is the fact that the entire subworld is used for one single gag, and it's amazing.
14:00
Beside its internet slang-use for "lol", the irony is that 草 (kusa) also means 'grass', 'weed', or 'herb' depending on context.
It's the famed double entendre!
20:01 ... Geometry Dash
Well, true
Carl love the videos. I know you're not feeling the best, so sending you all my best wishes!
Been loving your videos lately and also the playthroughs that are archived on the second channel!!
I really like the contrast of a silly troll level and a technical level in the same video. GG Carl, very impressive o7
14:00 Was not expecting the Kusa.

"phenolphthalein" would make a great secret word
Carl at 20:16: "It is a chemistry word" Me, out loud: "Exothermic!" Carl at 20:21 "It's pretty simple" Me: "Oh, um, hydrogen?"
With regard to nitrogen, the myccorrizhae (sp?) and bacteria do help with nitrogen fixation, but lightning in thunderstorms also ionizes the air a little which increases nitrogen availability to plants. That's why plants are typically greener after thunderstorms.
That troll after the first CP where you bounce off the fish happened so fast and unexpectedly the first time that I thought you just teleported
23:50 You could say: "that is smokin good'" 🤣
That Kingbling was SO GOOD
14:07 Actual footage of me getting out of bed in the morning.
8:45 mario has been arrested by the troll police and escorted back to cp1
Carl Sagan 42 is the only sleep aid I can comfortably fall asleep too, appreciate you Larl❤

3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine is my guess for the chemistry word... and is also my favorite MF Doom lyric.
I guess, “Diatomic”
Edit, oh, it was guessed on stream.

27:34 lol yes I immediately thought of the upside down troll
science words
carl, youre wrong. if theres a chemistry vocab word, the answer is always "titration"
It's the best one!!
You know the day is good when a new Carl Sagan troll video is out
"Modern era trolls!"
Immediately dies to kaizo fish.
Not one made for custom levels, but when I think rhythm platforming my mind goes to Mad Rat Dead.
As soon as I see Guts I know Carl is in for a ride.

Great video, hope you're doing well Carl!
i used to play a flash game called "Super D" and it used Mega Man 2: Dr Wily's Castle
There's an element of mean streak in the chemistry secret word riddle.
It's always a good day when Carl uploads nee footage of him getting wrecked.
This makes me hope Carl does a MegaMan series playthrough on his Playin account at some point.
I can't be the only one disappointed we didn't the full ball escort play through at the end :D
As a fan of the Smash Bros. documentary, that MegaMan music will always be synonymous with Mew2King for me. 😁
perfect first 10 secs- i love to see larl just loving life XD
The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
This is the first one I ever watched live
20:43 Oh hey, I watched DGR play this level recently.
from 0:18 to 16:20 it is really a fun level.
Easilly the best and funniest streamer. MM, elden ring or whatever, Carl is the best!
Chemistry keyword:
I'll go with: acidity

not even modded now, 2.2 is real

Hmmmm chemical. It has Chem in it and is super simple.
Vanderwaals bonds

Chemical bond, valence electron... uh.. James Bond..
Did I get it?

Science words… let’s go!
Yippee! Love your content carl
Yay new Carl troll vid!!!
word guess: "aromatic"!
Just what I needed after a long day of bullshit college courses.
That anti was beautiful
carl needs to play geometry dash I think he'll love it, especially since platformer mode got added
I laughed at the actually non-suspicious back to CP1 troll he got to work into the level!
1:25 YEET
Triple covalent bond? Or radicals
The carl.
God I love Tuta levels
I think the word is Kartoffelsalat.
Carl there's a couple games that builds levels based on inputted music. (Other than geometry dash)
Science words
Is the word triple bond? Man I'm good at this game :P
i think b_jonas guessed it first
Combustion!
19:56 geometry dash. What you are thinking of is geometry dash
