Getting ready to do a long bed to crewcab shorty shorty conversion. Can't find anything vids that show someone doing the job and any major steps besides the normal frame shortening. I know only difference is its 21.5 inches.
Is the back end sitting high because of the way the front spring mount had to be welded where the frame steps down to go under the cab? Did this change the driveshaft angle?
If you look the leaf sits flat, hangers at same height.. he did it right it sits high because of the hd springs and no weight on the back. The drive line angle won't change but the angle on the u joint will due to the shorter shaft.. Depends on where they set the ride height it may need a pinion angle adjustment (normal 4x4 stuff).. impressed really clean work and showed what he did...

This might help out, I am gonna be doing a conversion this winter.
Seen on another channel, the guy moved the leaf spring mounts up and just cut off the excess off the rear.

Which tank did you use? I’m in the process of shortening mine. Does it have to be a 1500 tank or as long as it’s from a short bed truck
Late response and Im sure youve figured it out lol, but as long as its a 6.5 bed tank. a 5.8 bed tank wont work

But why is the extra tank for ?
You have to use a short bed fuel tank bc the original fuel tank on your truck is too long so when you move everything forward it hits on the diff

Diesels don't have a vapor canister
Will the short bed version be able to pull like the long bed version?
What driveshaft did you use? Mine has a 2 piece with a carrier bearing. I want to switch it to a 1 piece driveshaft
how many inches did you cut out, did you start basically from the seam in the frame and measure/cut from there?
