Come on General Motors, allow this regular cab short bed to be optioned to higher trim packages. RST with a 6.2 would be amazing in a modern version of a classic short wide. Do you have any idea how many Gen X dudes are running around? We have Money!
The way I understand it, they can't. EPA dictates that a short wheelbase must get higher MPG. This is why practically all the trucks offered now have a crew cab, which extends the wheelbase and allows lower MPG. Yes it sucks. Hopefully with the electric trucks this will be non applicable.
It's moronic how GM won't build it with the 5.3 or 6.2 option. I just got a quote for a Cheyenne with a 5.3 in a Chevy dealership in Mexicali, the bastards want $1,120,000 pesos which is about 70 K
20mpg that ain't good enough 😂 that thing needs to be 30mpg for that sad sounding 4cyl. And yeah your right ev's are awesome daily drivers punch it and nothing but torque. Got 50k on a 2014 chevy spark ev not a hiccup
Surprisingly in Mexico you can still purchase an LT single cab regular bed Silverado or “Cheyenne” as it’s still called down there with the 5.3 engine.
I've read that US EPA laws work against short wheelbase trucks here. From Wiki: "Starting in 2011, the CAFE standards are newly expressed as mathematical functions depending on vehicle footprint, a measure of vehicle size determined by multiplying the vehicle's wheelbase by its average track width." "CAFE footprint requirements are set up such that a vehicle with a larger footprint has a lower fuel economy requirement than a vehicle with a smaller footprint." Thanks Government....
I know right, I would get a bed cover so I can use it as a trunk. This is smaller like a Chevy Equinox! Extremely unique. Seats 3 too and not just two with the bench seat (rare on vehicles now).
My local GMC dealer had 2 regular cab standard bed 4x4 2022 models in the PRO model. They could not sell them so they added leather seats, Denali 22 inch wheels and tires. Stereo upgrade. They already had every option you could get in this model. My son and I each bought one for 38k. Love these trucks. Both are in Black
hearing all the ideas for daves project truck it would of made a great series to watch. Hopefully 2024 those updates needed to see it happen. I really like the stock wheels on the box truck.
The bolt and pickup are totally different vehicles, each with their own strengths. I’d own both. The bolt is a great daily and errand runner but it can’t do road trips or hauling like the truck can. The truck is great for hauling but gets lousy mileage around town and is harder to park and maneuver.
4x4 is the way to go for those trucks. I had a 2wd drive Sierra. It did ok in the snow but it got stuck a decent amount. A trifold tonneau cover is a must have. They’re fantastic. Also get a bed mat to help protect the bed. After having a regular cab as a daily driver I would always go with a crew cab or the double cab. This way you have more storage in the cab and can keep the bed empty for actual use.
They really should offer the 5.3 gas V8 or I6 diesel, as well as the refreshed LT interior. While I know there isn't a huge market there has to be someone that wants one (me). Chevrolet offers the new refreshed interior in the regular cab 2500 series, so why not the 1500!
$40k for a Basic regular cab is crazy. Drove a 2010 for 2 years. You could buy an equinox with all the bells and whistles for the same price as a Silverado.
I just got about 5 months ago a 2016 LTZ with extended cab and 6.5” bed. It also has the 6.2liter V8. Extended cab is kind of a waste for me since it’s really too small to comfortably seat an adult. I would have loved a crew cab with the same bed but couldn’t get that so regular short cab with 6.5 bed in an LTZ would have been SICK! Thanks Dave for all the awesome videos and Thanks for converting me from being a Ram Guy to a Chevy guy.
I have the same truck (with 100,000 miles) and love it. Don't need to haul passengers normally, but can easily. Four of us have driven to LV from Tucson without an issue. So you sit a little sideways, but no big deal. Back seats usually has a lot of my clothes and gear, so are great for that too. Trucks looks better as an extended cab than a crew cab, in my opinion.
I had a Ford F-150 I bought in the early nineties and I loved the truck but it had two wheel drive and in the winter I slid all over the place. I did buy snow tires and put bags of sand in the back for better traction. Helped a little but still not acceptable, after that any vehicle I bought was 4 wheel drive. I would imagine in your part of the country winter’s may be even worse.

Cool/fun always wins out vs. practical/fuel efficient for me. For those that are not enthusiasts I get that something cool/fun doesn't matter. I wish I could have gotten my Coyote F150 as a RCSB, but I did have to concede a little practicality since I have a family and went with a supercrew. It is still fun and moddable though. You could at do wheels on your Bolt if you wanted a little something different.
It's nice to see a salesman showing you how they/dealerships beat the crap out of a brand-new engine before you come pick it up, lol. There is no need for them to be hammering any vehicle with a not-yet broken-in drivetrain. Nice.
EH from 🇨🇦. I own a 2015 Reg Cab , standard box Z-71 with the 5.3. I would never get a 2.7, that only gets 18 mpg....With that kind of mileage, I want the 5.3.
I have a question why does my brother's 2010 regular cab ram have a big space behind the seats and my 2014 regular cab silverado has 0 space seats hit the rear glass where did that space go
At one time most people would not buy a truck that did not have a 8 foot bed. So you could haul 4x8 plywood 8ft 2x4's . Back then trucks were seen as a hauling vehicle. Now they are seen as a towing vehicle. Now we have 4 doors with a sandbox. I looked at a truck just like this some months ago, at the time then sticker was 40,000 dollars.
I ordered one simular, on 8/23/22, no word yet on a build date, today is 4/2/23. Chevrolet offers this configuration but only wants to build crew cabs.
A 2 door cab, mild hybrid with gas in the front, electric in the back with no driveshaft hump and plenty of room for a 3rd person on the bench seat would be sweet!
Why doesn’t chevy offer v8 in single cabs I don’t understand how the corporate pen pushers could be so ignorant the only engine you can get from ford in a single cab starting in 2024 is the 5.0v8
$40,810? Dang. Our local Nissan lot in Cookeville, TN has crew cab Nissan Titan SVs in that price range. Looks like their lowest priced one right now is $43,481. And that’s not a base SV, it has several packages, loaded up nicely with features like dual air climate control and heated seats. I love Silverados (currently own a ‘17 LT double cab that I LOVE!), but if I was in the market for a new truck, it would be a no-brainer decision for me to opt for that V8 Titan instead! GM needs to get their production issues sorted out ASAP.
Wasn't aware Chevy still made trucks. All I see these days are four door sedans with a tiny bed stuck on the back as an afterthought. This truck still cannot replace my 94 S10 Long bed (71/2 foot bed) with a 4.3L and 4L60E transmission. Guess I'll keep it forever now.

I agree. That should be priced no greater than $30k. Truck prices are insane, and that’s why they aren’t moving off dealers lots. Mfrs just got greedy. The average price of new vehicles sold today is $50k, out of reach for the middle class families who made car manufacturers the huge corporations they are today. Just a question, what do you think is the best way to learn product knowledge on the vehicles? I have average knowledge of Chrysler dodge jeep ram but any tips on how i can learn faster? At work or at home? Thanks Dave b Sells Chevy!!!
Trucks are crazy expensive. I was shopping for one right before Covid and I was seeing prices on the Customs for less than 20K. Now nothing under 35K. Ridiculous.
The price tag for that basic regular cab, standard bed pickup is absolutely outrageous.
May I ask how much they are in US dollars?
And then I’d have to pay an additional 8.5% county / state sales tax when I go to get my plates...

Beautiful truck but for a 9-5 guy like me that price tag Is outrageous even with 5k down
If you sit down and play wth the "build your own" YOU CAN make the work truck look like the LT.
Hey Dave! Just finished my first day of sales at a Chrysler dodge jeep ram dealership! Watched a lot of your videos and appreciate all the tips you've left me! Just a question, what do you think is the best way to learn product knowledge on the vehicles? I have average knowledge of Chrysler dodge jeep ram but any tips on how i can learn faster? At work or at home? Thanks Dave b Sells Chevy!!!
I say go with what you like or Keep both (if you can afford it). Can’t wait to see all the mods on the new truck.
If I had it I pull the 4 banger out and put in a v8
Thanks for sharing this review.
Nice but does seam pricey. Here in California there are a lot of new 2022 models and some are discounted down to the low 40’s for the LT.
Trucks are crazy expensive. I was shopping for one right before Covid and I was seeing prices on the Customs for less than 20K. Now nothing under 35K. Ridiculous.
You lost me at 40k for a stripped down 4 cylinder truck. 😞
One question, ¿Si quema o no quema cuuuuh?
