    Jollibee became the main rival of Mcdonalds both in the PH & international fastfood market. Back in the 80's when Mcdonalds started in the PH, they thought filipinos liked the american taste of Mcdonalds, but they were wrong. Meanwhile Jollibee listened to its local customers and gave them they want. Jollibee catered to local tastes in the PH and Mcdonalds didn't do that back in the day.
    Because Mcdonald's were too focused on the demands of the american market. They thought this will work on other countries and it backfired on them. Jollibee did a very good job on listening to its customers.

      When I was a kid in the early 2000s, an American was complaining why McDonalds wasn't serving chips here in the Philippines and it got so bad, he was arguing already with a manager. He was really trying hard to be a Karen, even before the term was coined. Though, I never stayed to know what the outcome was eventually.
      McDonalds adapted quickly enough to adjust to the local population's preferences, even removing menus Americans like because it wouldn't sell here.

      I rate a burger by the plain patty.
      In the US, the tastiest patty is the whopper.
      The patty of the Yum burger has actual flavor.

    • @dqdq4083
      @dqdq4083 15 днів тому

      @Dangic23 I agree, the whopper by far is the best, I don't know how patties taste on their own because I don't eat them that way and I don't think it's fair to judge them that way since the full burger is the final product. It's like judging a car by the engine only. I can't say which burger is better between McDonald's and jollibee because the burgers they have here are completely inedible in my opinion, I always just feed them to my dogs. The yum burger just tastes bad and the bigmac is just ok

      I taste the patty to see if the company has put any effort into their product.
      That’s the base.
      The toppings are the same everywhere.
      I remember 10 years ago asking the 5 Guys manager at a local spot about what they put in their patties.
      He said nothing, not even salt/pepper.

    The thing is that Jollibee have always been a place for families and their kids to enjoy and eat food together. Jollibee just never lost that on their stores from their food choices to the color and interior design of its stores. The place just brightens you up.
    McDonalds *used* to be like that as well until it went full corpo. You can clearly see it on interior design of newly built/renovated McDonalds stores. McDonalds *used* to be designed to be a colorful playful place for families to enjoy and eat food together with playgrounds but now every time I enter any McDonalds it feels like I'm walking on a bland company cafeteria. As someone who used to love celebrating my birthdays in McDonalds when I was a kid, it's really disappointing.

    Jollibee conquers the heart of the children in the Philippines, they have lot of children songs that make's the children happy and singalong. Many children cries when they saw Jollibee on the road, even some parents that could not afford to go there would cry because they cannot give that burger to their child. But now, Filipinos grew to Jollibee and became a culture to go along. I even walk along with my kids to take a breakfast to Jollibee in Blumenttrit which is memorable to me as a father where your kids would request to eat in Jollibee. When the kids celebrating their basketball team wins a game. Its Jollibee time. And we sing " I love you Sabado, pati na rin Linggo..." that is Jollibee it reflects the Filipino Culture, they sing and dance, enjoy and smile. It is part of our growing with family and a lot of memory to cherish!

    With my experience in both places, I'd say Jollibee feels more like a restaurant than a fast food chain. The color and lighting feel warmer, the vibe is more friendly, the mascot feels more homey and the staff is usually friendlier and more engaging. Please note I am biased, but this is my observation... the whole vibe of Jollibee was and still is a family place where you see couples, friends and family gather and have fun in while eating decent food. And that for me makes all the difference

    I think jollibee outperforms mcdonalds because jollibee does not mainly sell food, they sell emotions or nostalgia. In the Philippines, it's common for kids to be taken by their parents/guardian to jollibee after graduation or a big milestone. On top of that, jollibee produces top notch tv commercials that depicts strong feelings of emotions.

    If things keep up, MCdonalds will eventually beat Jollibee. Because Jollibee's stores in the Philippines is starting to lag in regards to food quality. Food portions are getting quite small. While prices are keep getting higher.

      I just want to point out to anyone who isn't experiencing Jollibee in the Philippines that they shouldn't listen to the comment I'm replying to. ChickenJoy is bigger than ever, the service is fast and always quality and if Jollibee sees price increases due to inflation, McDonald's does as well.
      There are areas of Philippines where there are Jollibees across the street from each other, malls that have two or more Jollibees inside them and always, and I mean ALWAYS, there are people in line to purchase food.
      And of course if you simply ask the average Filipino or compare the two restaurants side by side, it is clear who is winning and even with all of the advertising money McDonald's is spending in the area, from my own eyesight, they are not even close to catching up.
      Personally, even if I just stay in my condo complex, I see people carrying Jollibee bags 3-5 times each day and I see a McDonald's bag maybe once or twice each week.

      Your statement is not factual and is not supported by stats. Jollibee is very dominant in the Philippines in terms of sales and food quality. Did you even watch the video? Jollibee was voted as the best chicken in the U.S.. It was also reported in major news channels there. If you think Mcdonalds is better, it's fine because it's your preference but it doesn't mean that it's the opinion of the majority.

    • @ronbaltazar8773
      @ronbaltazar8773 Місяць тому

      @@StriderVM Recap on what you said:
      1.Mcdonalds will eventually beat Jollibee- sales in the Philippines say otherwise, hence, I said your statement is not based on facts and not supported by stats.
      2.Jollibee stores in the Phils lag in quality- to which I replied Jollibee was named the best chicken in the U.S.. In case you are not aware, Jollibee serves the same chicken flavor in the Phils. and the U.S.hence, my reply addressed what you said about food quality.
      3. Jollibee in the Philippines serves half the size as what they serve in the U.S.- it's because Jollibee in the U.S. needs to adjust to their audience because Americans are used to big servings. Also, Jollibee is pricier in the U.S. than in the Philippines so the Americans need to see that it's worth their bucks.
      Incidentally, while replying to you here, I just had Jollibee delivered and they did not decrease their food serving contrary to your claim.

    If Jollibee had kept their cris-cut fries as a permanent option in their menu then I would choose their fries over McDo. Those things were tasty and crispy while served at a reasonable amount for its price. Back when it was available, we kept ordering it at least 3 times a week.
    Now that they are back to only having regular fries, McDo easily beats them. Their taste don't differ that much in my opinion but McDo serving more fries per order (nearly twice that of Jollibee's) and having the option to add flavor powders gives them a clear advantage.
