I have a 2020 Genesis G70 with the 2.0L engine, I have had this car one year this month and absolutely LOVE it! The badge doesn’t bother me, I love the fact that the service is included and reliability is up there. Also, one thing worth mentioning is the safety, it’s safe and I feel so planted to the road when driving it. Lastly, the looks are stellar, heads turn every time, it’s stunning! I have leased for years, but purchased my G70, my brother is a mechanic and noted that the engine is easy to work on, always good to hear. Great review!
Great Video. I work for Genesis. I see customers every week coming in with high end vehicles trading them in for Genesis. Just last week a gentleman came in traded a Bentley Bantayga for a Genesis GV80. I constantly have customers making 200-300K a year coming in choosing a Genesis over other Luxury brands. Genesis is doing great things!
Zack brings up a good point. When you drive a car for a couple days, you find out what it can / cannot do. That's why it is useful to use vacations' rentals to test drive cars. That's how I found out I would prefer the 5 series to an E Class, personally.
Great review…. Personally you should get the car you want. Many people finance their cars and you shouldn’t finance a car for 50k just because of a badge! Do your research. I test drove the bmw, Mercedes and even the stinger. But after I test drove the Genesis G70 I fell in love. Be happy with who you are and not worry about what everyone says. On the side note…. Every time and I mean every time I am pumping gas someone ask me about my car and takes a look at it lol. Thanks for the review guys.
most people own their cars, executives and rich people only lease, because they don't any car for long, except for the one they have at home for daily use.
Great review, I love the car. I think that Genesis/Hyundai are really missing the mark by not having physical dealerships with show rooms with ACTUAL cars you can see, compare and evaluate in person.
The G70 has impressed me from the day I test drove and even now that I’ve put 2500kms on mine. I have had one mechanical issue which occurred on two different occasions, which has not happened since and so I won’t comment on it. Zach is right, it takes decades to establish the brand. Genesis should have put the 3.5L and 2.5L in the 2022 and should have put there hp over that of bmw 340i. Until Genesis builds the brand name, they need to go for the jugular of the competition…better performance for less money will bring me back for a second Genesis!
had tried out an older Genesis before I got my current car...and was impressed by the content for the money...and seems they have upped their game more..nice styling and interior really looks nice...worth considering for sure
Another excellent review from Motormouth. Love how you interact with Instagram followers, really adds to the review and thanks for your new "Vital stats" info, very valuable. Andrea your skirt is beautiful, you are such a class act.
I saw one in my city recently and I thought it was a custom wrap bc it was matte grey! Didn’t know this was an option from the manufacturer! NECK BREAKER AND HEAD TURNER FOR SURE!!!!
OK, I have to admit, I have always liked German craftsmanship, but this car is beginning to change my mind. You certainly get a lot of bang for the buck and we plan on test-driving one this weekend. Thanks for this video, it was very informative.
Your face when Andrea pushed that pedal lol yes! Really been enjoying you all’s channel... I dunno the Canadians car channels seem to be my top favs lately 👌🏾☺️🤷🏾♀️🌅
Another stellar review 👍! I agreed with Zack, saying...this is more of a all around comfort car sitting between the M3 and A4. Love the red sit belts and how you have the matching color skirt. Stay safe
Excellent review as always. Interesting to compare the different cars and their price points. I did the exercise last year before buying my Stinger GT here in Australia. The Genesis was quite a bit more expensive than the Stinger which has everything the Genesis has. The German equivalents, specced to the same level were almost twice the price of my top of the range Stinger GT. The new G70 is almost 30K Australian more than the new Stinger GT here in Oz. Stinger wins hand down and it even has a 7 year warranty compared to the G70. Both excellent cars and I would happily have a G70 over a German rival. To each their own I guess.
I like the way it looks if I was to spend top dollar on a luxury Sedan or an SUV I’d be going with the Genesis brand I love the look of the GV80 and the new GV70 is 😍😍
Great review. Like you said, it takes decades to establish a brand, but I think Genesis is headed in the right direction. Plus 5 year free maintenance is very enticing.
Happy to hear it thank you so much. I love the interaction too, there are always great questions to answer and really adds to the review in my opinion.
I think Genesis is really going after millennials with the G70. They offer so much for a lot less money than the more established brands. That’s why my wife and I recently purchased one, and we are loving it.
Genesis should be commended for an excellent update to an already great car. In fact sport sedan buyers are spoiled for choice today. Too bad SUVs get all the attention.
Love the G70!! We've had the full digital dash since 2019 here! I don't know why they don't offer it in North America. And actually this car has been on sale since 2017 in other markets, so it was due for a light refresh.
As usual, you are the best. Genesis arrives in Europe but not to France. Pity. Even if I find the dash too busy. Congrats from sunny Champagne region ( 29°C).
I think this is equally as desirable as most Japanese sedans. We have an Audi and BMW at home. Love the Audi and the dealer experience. I will never buy another BMW after the experience with purchasing our 2021 330i. If Genesis can offer superior customer service they will really win.
Another amazingly well done car review. When I watch, I make sure I have a coffee ☕️ as well 😉. Have a wonderful weekend once again and please stay safe !!!
I have this exact car as a loaner for a few days from Genesis right now...same colour, same interior. Only had 400 KM on it, so it's a great loaner! I was very impressed with the performance! Hitting the gas at a green light throws you back hard and I absolutely get butterflies so acceleration is amazing and it all gets put down with AWD. In Sport+ mode, the back end will even break out on a corner. Love the handling. The biggest issue for me is it is too small. Too low, too short, no rear seat space...too small. I can't see me spending over $60K for such a small car. It is quite a lot smaller than my 2012 Kia Optima SX even... And why does Genesis drop so many features found in their other vehicles? No gauges that match the driving mode, no ambient lighting, no fully digital gauge cluster, etc...they make some strange decisions when pulling features on their top of the line G70!
Great review as always! We’ve been shopping for this segment and test drove it recently. We like BMW better and maybe will wait for the m440i gran coupe that’s coming soon. I am also very interested in the TLX type S and IS 500. Looking forward to your review on those once available! Have a great weekend. Regards from Victoria.
This doesn't look like anything else. Bonus pts. In the sea of c class cars, this is refreshing. Waiting for ur review of that Acura. Great review as always. If they change it again in 2 yrs, doesn't that accelerate depreciation?
Depreciation on this according to JD Power and CarEdge is average. Looking forward to driving the Type S as well, it will be great to do comparisons on all these cars we've reviewed in this class.
I own a 2022 G70 2.0T. For a everyday driver, it is great. Not as smooth but it is a fast car already. With gas at $5 a gallon, you can do the math. BTW, i would get one with a moonroof.
I know I'm biased as a Korean but that's a goddam good looking car. The only reason I'm sticking to BMW is because Genesis is already everywhere--EVERYWHERE--in Korea.
Too bad about the limited rear space, but wow, it is so beautiful. I love the outer styling of their SUVs as well. Not a huge fan of their steering wheels though. :) Would be a tough choice but I think I’d still opt for the BMW. Have a good weekend :)

Hi Zach... You are pretty tall and I'm 6'5". I typically have issues with wide center consoles and my knees touching it. We're you really comfortable in it?
Exactly! I test drove both cars (fully loaded and only ones on lots with upwards of 6 months for others to arrive) and I had to pull trigger on g70 3.3t RWD…it drives and handles similarly to CT5V at way better price out the door-$57K vs $70K!
The Germans dont have to worry much about this taking away sales from their cars but they may have to worry a little about what the upcoming GV70 may do to their SUV sales
3:31 Zach, on the interior: _I think if you took away all of the quilting on these seats, it would just be an average looking interior._ Uh, WHAT?? It's statements like these that make car reviewers look like idiots. Either he's just trying to be contrarian for the sake of....I have no idea. Or, he has no aesthetic taste whatsoever. Without going into endless comparisons and backing up my opinion with stacks of examples, anyone with any design sense whatsoever can see the interior of this G70 is SO elegant, high quality and just overall _gorgeous._ Are there people who don't like shiny real metal, beautiful lines, high grade materials at every location and a borderline stunning visual and sensory experience? Yes, because you see how many millions buy the cars of the last twenty+ years with downright boring, truly ugly black on black on black crap plastic interiors. This is the opposite of a 'sports car interior'. So, if you don't like nice things, you wouldn't like this interior, because it just screams 'class'.
I like the Stinger a lot but they are quite different. The Stinger is bigger, more spacious than this G70. I also like the exterior and interior better on the Stinger. The G70's handling is better and it has a more dynamic drive. Both good.
How about G80 fully loaded vs CT5 V especially now that Cadillac is pulling the Enhanced supercruise due to the chip shortage which may last till 2023...
So, prior to making the jump from Lexus to BMW (briefly) and then finally when I purchased my new S4 a few months back, I was seriously considering waiting for this vehicle because it is a good looking car, butttttt, it's a Genesis and I couldn't get past my own badge snobbery. That, and the Audi was simply more polished inside and Audi's infotainment/virtual cockpit is amazing. You do get what you pay for! I have to say that one of the main draws to this car is that in this class, it's really the S4 and this that are still relatively small. The M340i in particular looks so bloated.
Wait until warranty is up. Then you’ll regret purchase of any German car. Unless, you lease it, it’s never a smart to buy a German car. I owned and leased 5 German cars in the past 12 years.
I think the updates are enough, but I'd be willing to bet it's re-designed for the 2023 or 2024 model year to bring it all the way into the new Genesis design language. Sooo...
The new Stinger GT2 is a better buy in my opinion. It shares 90% of the same internals with the G70 but the fastback design is sportier and more practical.
What bothers me about Lexus is350 f sport is they don’t give that engine more power! I test drove both and to me the g70 handling and acceleration is exhilarating…fully loaded g70 especially in this market is thousands less and better value-3 year/36K mile maintenance free and 100k power train warranty. I had to pull the trigger too good of a deal since I was in the market…tested caddy CT5V also and g70 felt similar but I admit the CT5V is top tier in acceleration and handling but dealership wanted $70K (fully loaded) compared to fully loaded g70 $57K out the door!
Exactly. There was this guy moaning on the BMW forum that the transmission is not BMW made and if there is a BMW with a BMW transmission. I wouldn't want BMW making a transmission especially considering the 8 speed ZF is the best transmission ever.
It didn't really register how small it was until he mentioned the A4 and I was thinking "wait what?" It has a bigger look outside on camera doesn't it?
I have a 2020 Genesis G70 with the 2.0L engine, I have had this car one year this month and absolutely LOVE it! It’s not 400 pounds lighter than the stinger if both are AWD in Canada lol. Before you guys said 500 pound.
I like the car, however that grill is way to big for the proportions of the body
from the thumbnail i thought it's a sky blue G70
most important is that the genesis has a more comfortable ride than the BMW
I prefer a 3 series every time over this Genesis.
3 dries? good luck with resale value and breakdown costs at the dealership
@@papaagidi2838 I am German, and always owned 3 series, so far.
Don’t new cars come with warranty these days?
@@nickolastiguan way way better than the BMWs/audis . Everyone knows this , maybe except u . Plus they don’t breakdown like BMW
@@papaagidi2838 I prefer BMW/ Audi!
Might get this or the lexus is 350 f sport (which I prefer the looks of).
@@naveenthemachine definitely not the is500 lol.
A 2016 honda civic lx has digital tachometre. Yet 2022 genesis could not provide one ?!!!
It's crazy that this is smaller than the C but looks twice as long
Forgot to mention that this available with a 6 speed manual
Does heritage matter when 90% of buyers don't even know the kind of transmission used in these vehicles? lol.
Exactly. There was this guy moaning on the BMW forum that the transmission is not BMW made and if there is a BMW with a BMW transmission. I wouldn't want BMW making a transmission especially considering the 8 speed ZF is the best transmission ever.
I would put this up against the CT4v not the CT5v. G70 is a compact CT5 is midsize
It didn't really register how small it was until he mentioned the A4 and I was thinking "wait what?" It has a bigger look outside on camera doesn't it?
Watch again, based on V6 competition
I'd rather see you two review the GV70!
You said electronic LSD on this Genesis G70, but their website and marketing videos say mechanical LSD. Pls check.
