Tory bigoted Ferrari as usual not challenging Goves lies Ferrari needs to be sacked by LBC
When he was a, ahem, gossip columnist, he blagged his way into a private party I threw. When he knew that the people he'd nearly driven apart with his fecking innuendo about one of them. Wouldn't leave when asked kept hassling the people involved, because he didn't like any of our politics.I caught him by the scruff of his neck and the seat of his pants, ran him down the stairs from our private room at The Cafe Royale, out the doors and managed to land him in the middle of Regents Street! Not something I could achieve now, because his exterior now looks more like his inside, and he's turned into fat lump.
You know him that slxxxb have occupied that sit tethered to it like Velcro. He will never disrupt the apple cart it’s the invisible contract they all share to stick with the propaganda machine no matter what.
Michael Gove is the type of politician that will tell the homeless to go home.
Nick Ferrari is an insult to Journalism!!
I like him he's a sign post that always points in the wrong direction, whatever his POV go the other way
@@SimonSmith-yd6ttexcellent thinking! You've actually found a genuine 'Brexit'(eer) benefit! 😉😅
Dick Salami is LBC's xenophobe in chief and he's such a selfish tory schill. Disgusting.
I had the great delight of throwing him out of a gig I was promoting. Because he'd nearly broken a friend's marriage in his fecking awful gossip column.
Not a journalist. A Tory mouthpiece.
Gove talking out of his arse as expected
Looking forward to Gove slithering away from Politics!
Whenever a Tory is on Ferrari's show it always turns into a party political broadcast on behalf of the Tory party courtesy of Nick Ferrari.
I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, when Starmer's PM.
‘Twas Brexit and the slithy Gove didst gibber and gabble on the airwaves
@@billpugh58 Ecellent! LMAO!
Gove won’t be missed.
I rejoiced when he decided to run away.
For most...that could be said about the tories in general.....
But yeah...Gove is one of the more sneaky snake-oil salesmen.....
Wait what 200,000! So a property well over a million today as his first house. No wonder he is so economically and politically illiterate and has no clue how people live.
Agree - my first house was about £25k, a 2 bed starter home back in the 80's.
Where in the EU directive? Why is Gove being interviewed on LBC? After the Brexit damage that he has caused our country he should be holding his head in shame and have disappeared from public life.
Worst for healthcare , worst for housing, paid holidays , retirement…..
What a slime ball!
*These people should be jailed!*
« England worst place in developed world to find housing, says OECD report. UK’s expensive, cramped and ageing housing stock offers the worst value for money of any advanced economy. » « Switzerland and the UK have more expensive housing than other European countries according to Eurostat. Housing in the UK was 56% higher than the EU's average. » « New research from Cambridge University has found that the UK has the smallest homes by floor space area of any European country. » Mickey Gove is a liar, but we knew it..
In 1979, as a newly married couple, we paid a £505 deposit for our attic flat.. The flat had been vacant for a number of years so was on the market for £5000.. Four years later it sold for £16,500.. The current average price in the same area is £70,347!! Shocking!
In 1972 I was still a student, then on my final year of grant. My wife had a secretarial job. We had saved £500 by very frugal living and this enabled the Building Society to lend us £3000 for a two bedroom £3500 terrace cottage with front and rear garden and garage. I simply dursn't ever tell my 40 plus sons who cannot afford any prospect of a house. It was only a few years later that the ripple effect from London informed householders that they had an investment as opposed to a home.
Its not help to buy, its help to sell
💯👍
At least one-tenth of Tory donations since 2010 are from property developers, real estate tycoons and others connected to the construction industry.. Almost £40m given since 2010 as government delays to low-carbon regulations save builders and developers billions. Did I say 'corruption'?🤔
Why can't the government build houses to sell on at cost price ,it would create jobs, create low cost homes and in the end cost the government nothing,
Why? Because theyve always set out to reduce the supply of housing to keep prices high and keep their donors/property developer chums happy
Lordy, it'll be a relief to not have to listen to their endless lies...
Roll on July 4th Stop Tory Votes!
I'm reminded of a Bruce Springsteen song, "Independence Day."
More tory lies!!!!
Without Brexit there would no oxygen in the UK and all of us would have died. Did you not know this?
No amount of lies is going save them?!..
Clearly it doesn't occur to Gove that a low% deposit on even an average home results in enormous monthly repayments.
P.O.B at large 🤬
The EU kept interest rates as historically low levels for decades so this means that repayments of interest on your mortgage are significantly reduced.
We have to normalise and reform renting - 11 million households out of 28 million are now renters in uk , oh wasn’t rent reform the remit for Gove ?
He comes across as insane for sure
The fact that he obviously had no idea of the average price of a house in the UK, tells us everything! 😡😡
You will own nothing and be happy. I'm afraid, and it will only get worse.
I saw a Guardian reporter wandering around the relatively rich districts of Surrey. It was shocking how many empty houses there were in a modest walk and allowed simply to deteriorate. Why? The council is effectively bankrupt (a Tory council under a Tory govt.), it has no means and the only housing is expensive apartments and the like being put up by developers. On top of which, of course, the Council Tax is a highly regressive tax hitting the less well-off. "Welcome to the BRexit" Britain!
"Had house prices only risen in line with inflation in the seventy years since 1952 then the average home in 2022 would have cost £63,300, or just over twice the median full-time UK salary of £31,000." The higher the price the higher the profit the richer the lender.....ie. the fatter the parasites.
That funny! Since Brexit/ COVID my building business has been destroyed!
As far as I know the EU does not regulate the mortgage market.
"A benefit of Brexit is that we, being Landlords, can raise your rents to prohibitive levels and kick you out if you can't pay, allowing us to lease the properties to a better and wealthier class of people with you having been conned (by us) into voting away any rights you had to defend yourselves against us. You believed in the Brexit we sold you, we got the one we always wanted without any belief required."
Wasn't this idea of loaning people more than they can afford to repay one of the root causes of the 2007/8 financial crash?
...our first apartment cost us £5,300 in 1971 ...first house in 1982...£32,000...house now worth over £600k...Gove being spectacularly mendacious as ever about the EU...the sooner he's reduced to howling at the Moon writing tripe for Murdoch the better....?
Gove’s assertion is straight out of the Trumptopian manifesto.
Gove speaks, Gove lies
Praise be to Gove! 😅
Key 'EU regulations on lending money' in a internet search and you'll get a long list about money laundering. London is the money laundering capital of the world.
Myself, then partner and my parents bought a house in Balham in 2004 that we lived in until 2010. It cost £300,000. After me and then partner my parents agreed to buy us out after we separated and it was a rental until recently when they sold it. It went on the market for £1.2m. No-one can afford that shift in property values. My salary back in 2004 was around the £40k mark. That salary for a similar position today is just about £55k. Salaries have not kept up with house price increases. My parents made a killing bug they were just very fortunate. It wasn’t a planned investment, it was just something they held on to. I don’t know how people in their 20s early 30s in London could even hope to buy a house in London any more.
Nick ferrrarri is an insult to motor vehicles.
Just remember 200,000 will be well below what it was as well
Ferrari is as bad as Gove !
How come LBC keeps him?
@@johnjephcote7636 The same reason they kept platforming the modern day Lord Haw-Haw Farage. Because they have no scruples and it makes them money,
Gove can now go a UK wide tour of all the cottages he loves so much and should there be a hole in the wall hopefully something pink will appear to fill it.
Just what is he on??? For sure it isn't this planet
Allegedly ................... !
He didn’t know the average house price!! He is the fecking housing Minister. The presenter can’t push back coz he doesn’t know the detail - he is far too lazy to do any prep.
Equity loan. No, no, no and no again
Curious that Ireland offers a reduced deposit role for first time buyers while *remaining* in the EU and even a member of the Eurozone. Riddle me that, Mr. Gove.
but we now have sovereignty to not do that
Poor no sky Rishi claimed buy removing stamp duty for first time buyer will solve the housing crisis, well we all know that’s a pile of horse poo poo.
Older home owners don’t want to sell because they either want to pass on to their grandchildren or because they will be harmed with stamp duty and possibly capital gains tax, and stamp duty on their new home.
Family can’t buy the house they need, older people can’t /willing sell their homes, and younger people can’t afford to buy anything.
It’s a mess, all created by the tories.
When the policy came in, in 1013, weren't we in the EU?
Then the benefit of Brexit is a Timeshare abroad?
The deposit is a Brown Envelope to a property developer?
And a blind eye?
Fact: you lend money to a couple to buy a house if they give you a deposit. They pay the mortgage.
MichaelGove bought a house outright no deposit. That’s why he can’t remember the deposit.
Or is it memory loss?
Guess his first home wasn't a one bedroom starter flat.😅😅😅😅😅
Hi Max these Tory Ministers will mostly go on Tory friendly radio shows like Nick Ferrari on LBC. Of course Nick will not push back because he wants more of them on his show to improve his ratings, bet he won't go on with James O'Brien because Mr. Gove will have to have facts correct and no soft ball questions with James. The Tories are out of touch with working class and hopefully out office on the 4th July Independence from the Tories day.
Hi from South Africa here. Find your understanding and explaination of uk politics incredibly interesting. Have family there and often visit (love it there) . Really hope this pops off for you… you deserve it
I live in France and they have had no problem of building houses from council housing/ starter homes and up to higher quality both before Brexit and after Brexit. So why did Britain need Brexit to build houses or should I say promise to build houses. I note that the quality of some new housing built in Britain is so bad they should be knocked down and restarted, plus of course the other problem this government will not address is the Ponzi scheme regarding leasehold and the corrupt practices it entails. I am old enough to remember the massive boom in building good quality council houses in the 1950's and 1960's when we had no money at all after WW2 and yet they keep bragging that Britain is one of the biggest economies in the world and yet all we have to offer our young for living accommodation is a tent.
The housing market in the Cayman Islands perhaps...
Shared ownership is a massive scam and a ticking time bomb of epic proportions!
Let's hope Gove is 'out' of a job in 2 weeks time!
I'm waiting for the 'Michael Gove claims night is day' video!!
We need old
fashioned council houses
I saw a four bed detached house in Dulwich available to rent at £12,000 s month.
That sigh of exacerbation says it all...
Hi Max Good Evening Everyone ❤
A 5% deposit for a mortgage on an average price house is still £15,000. The Tories don't understand that the average wage is one tenth of that. The cost of living crisis means that saving is almost impossible. Like all Tories, his MP salary and privileged upbringing means he never has to worry about silly little things like deposits.
We’re not surprised nor interested anymore 🙄
For the sake of argument- let’s say Gove bought is first house when he was 30 (the current average first time buyer’s age I believe). He is 56 so that puts his first house purchase around 1998. He says he bought a house for 200k. In 1998 the average house price in England was about 72k. So he bought a first house that was almost three times the price of the national average. Sure perhaps he bought somewhere expensive, say in London. But in 1998 the average London house price was only £115,000. So he still would have bought a house significantly over the average even in London!
What planet do these people live on?
Why is Gove being interviewed about housing policies for the new parliament and cabinet when he's not even a candidate?
Sunak will have a resignation honours list to benefit from.
Why is someone who is standing down even being given air time
Amazing
I bought a house in Ireland and moved in 2 years ago. If not for a help to buy scheme, I wouldn't have been able to afford both the deposit and furniture, blinds, floors, appliances etc.
However, my brother-in-law bought a house in the same estate of similar quality for 70k more a year and a half later. Developers will factor help to buy into the value of the houses. Nasty
Gove is supposedly ‘eloquent’ or so I’ve heard some say. But ever since the Brexit Farce, I’ve never trusted him. You can be persuasive and still be wrong.
It won't get any better under Labour. You think it's a coincidence that neither Tory nor Labour build any new homes? New constructions are constantly vetoed by the local councils, because local councils have the ultimate authority to allow or deny construction projects, and they are under the thumb of the elderly house lords. If I own a house as a landlord, of course I would vote to not build a new apartment complex next doors that would half my property value. The UK builds new houses at a rate *less* than in 1860! You can read it all in Why Britain doesn’t build by Samuel Watling
Labour are literally going to reform the planning laws so that more homes can be built. What are you talking about?
@@ecaeas4439 I'm talking about such stuff as "London rejects most planning applications despite housing crisis" "London council rejects government’s First Homes policy" "Revealed: Britain’s council housing shame as majority of councils fail to build a single home" Labour needs to repeal the Town and Country Planning Act (which was introduce by Labour in the 1940s after WW2). Remove the "Green Belt" provision. Reform? Will Labour remove the powers of the local councils to veto all construction projects? Will Labour remove the idiotic Green Belt provision? I don't think so. Labour will just make superficial changes that don't have any major impact and won't help.
EU has nothing to do with UK Housing policy. Help to Buy was done purely to prop up housing market and prevent market price adjustments post crisis because majority of Tory supporters are property owners. It was a catastrophic policy when it comes to affordability especially when coupled with austerity that suppressed wages
WTF does Gove know? My niece has ended up in a right pickle unable to sell her property because of Homes England and the ‘Help to Buy, Hell to Sell’ debacle. The man is a slippery snake whom my family will be delighted to see the back of.
£54k they not ment to get there lol they ment to rent all thier lives and pay some one else's debt off lol
Gove is 57. If his first house, presumably bought n the early 1990s, cost £200,000 it must have been a large and expensive mansion. The average price of a house was then around £50,000, rising to about £55,000 by the middle of the decade. An average of £200,000 wasn't reached until 2015/16. Is that when Gove is claiming he bought his first house? He was the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice by then, had previously been Secretary of State for Education, an MP for over a decade and in the cabinet since 2010.
Ooops! Gove tells a porkie. How surprising. NOT!
Equity loans are not a good thing! Surely it would make more sense for people to have an increase in wages rather than propping up house prices with these schemes 😢
They're already doing the 5% deposit in Australia, for very limited numbers.
Has made some housing more accessible, but hasn't made a dent in the overall prices which continue to soar.
Incidentally our average house price is nearly double the UKs, although that's got as much to do with 30 years of incentives for investment buying as with the complete lack of medium and high density construction in the past 30 years.
I wonder how huge Goves £200k house was compared to the house I bought at £200k almost a decade ago on the first iteration of "help to buy" where I was able to get use a 5% deposit on a old house (later iterations were just new builds which did very much bump up their prices)
You could work with lenders, while being in the EU, too.
Ferrari's love affair with Himmler I mean, Gove continues.
Why doesn't Gove just go away.
im going to say the quiet bit out loud. Homeowners are more likely to vote than non homeowners. homeowners will never vote for a party that seeks to reduce the value of their investment. who the hell wants to be paying for a mortgage on a house that is worth less than they borrowed? anyone calling for a reduction in house prices is an idiot.
It's not as easy as just lowering house prices , if you did that you would put a lot of people into negative equity .
Gove isn't a snake oil salesman, he's snake oil itself.
More lies flowing like a waterfall from his month .It was sickening that not one lie was challenged or fact-check by the host .
Nick Ferrari is a client journalist
You stop at your parents and save save save, i was 34 when i left home many are older. Then trouble is so many wish to leave home by 21 and its not possible to rent and save at the same time.
Why does Graham Andrew Logan go by the name Michael Gove 🤔🤔🙈👀🍎🍌💩
He is not running, why interview him.
When did Gove buy his first house? £200,000 currently, or 40 years ago?
Ahhh Nick Ferrari.. He would be cute if he was more furry, everyone loves a gerbil :D
its useless helping people get mortgage deposits when even with the help in much of the country the mortgage is still unaffordable even for a dual income home household. things need to be done to actually bring down the prices of the houses, ban investors from buying houses, stop landlords gobbling up everything. build more different types of housing, some councils are going out and only building semi-detatched 2.5 bedroom slop whrn they have a real housing crisis and need everything from 1-3 bed flats to actually help meet demand
My first house was a one bed semi bungalow. It cost £20k in 1983. Deposit was £2k. Sold 2 years later for £22.5k, leaving me with £4.5k deposit on the next house.
All we need is a time machine and things would be just peachy.
Loans to make loans cheaper? How would that work? It would just juice the market even more.
This interview stinks to high heaven.
Supply and demand. if you increase the supply of money without increasing the housing stock…..you create inflatuin.
Thatcher started it in the 1980’s. Linking the supply of money to what people earned went out the window.
I wonder which "first house or flat" Gove is talking about here for 200k, could it be his first house in his constituency?
Indeed, Surrey Heath is a very expensive and affluent area and I suspect that 200k might have bought him a "fairly respectable" detached house at the time (I could have bought my three bed semi in Kent three times over then) I am also thinking Gove couldn't afford a house, where he would have lived with his wife and children before becoming an MP.
Absolute lies from a man who is so slippery he couldn't tell the truth.
For a man who couldn't remember how much he paid for his first house, and who of us can't remember that? Maybe he confused the 400k (his idea of the average house price) with the profit he has made in twenty years.
I don’t believe anything that comes out of his mouth
Ferrari by name....only
There seem to be a lot of exasperated/disgusted sighs coming from you recently M. Robespierre
Nothing to do with the EU! The EU market for mortgage credit is fragmented. Overall, the Mortgage Credit Directive aims to create a fairer and more transparent mortgage market in the EU, protecting consumers from predatory lending practices.
As usual the EU takes care of its citizens.
Yea sure, brexit is also leading to benefits in the fishing industry, ask the fishes, they are much happier now, cause they are british...
Sovereignty init ? ;DDD
We will provide an equity loan (so that we can gain more money from the working class)
