      It really is...
I must say, though, hearing him praise his own process so passionately makes me wonder how much is genuine and how much is "I want the people that rejected me to know how good this was"
Like, don't get me wrong, I'm sure Joe was making an excellent job, but the fact that he doesn't mention stuff that was challenging for him, or even small disagreements in the process, makes me think he's deliberately focusing on the specific parts that help him send his message

And I am HAPPY as can be it did not happen. The man thinks his vision should be told. Fuck that. We need a Peter Jackson, someone that loves it and is humble enough to know "His vision" is not better. We do NOT need another "Rings of Power" Fiasco where a great thing is turned into a bastardization by egomaniacs that think they can write better.

    • @MichaelGalt
      @MichaelGalt 6 місяців тому +7

I might just look for how to do this and actually get it heard. We are talking hundreds of millions of dollars for them to do it right... but, imagine what this would do for the brand? I think Game of Thrones is vastly overrated (the books and show), but this could be so much bigger. More books, bigger universe, tabletop game, VTT... BG3 exploded interest into 5e... this show would drive it to the point of being a universally popular thing (not just gamers or tabletop gamers).

    • @twohorsesinamancostume7606

At this point I'd want that petition to say that either the corporate leadership of Wizards all be replaced or that they lose DnD in its entirety. They've repeatedly proven that they have no idea what they're doing and can't be trusted with it.

It wont. Deadpool got pushed by fans because of the dedication to actually create an accurate Deadpool. Joe has stated openly that he intended to write his vision of Dragonlance and openly talked about the parts of it that could be filled in and fleshed out. That is not what most of us want, we want as close to the novels as possible and not some fans take on it.

i love Joe's passion and commitment to d&d and especially Dragonlance. As a boy i read the novels as they were released and they will stay with me forever (both mentally and physically as i covert my Dragonlance books and still have them in great condition) i also do agree with some comments and have a slight concern that Joe maybe might try and present his own interpretation of the books, but he is only human, come on, who would not want to see their own iteration of Dragonlance on the screen? i would love it, but i am acutely aware that not many (if anyone) else would. The safe bet is to remain loyal to the books, try not to bring your own spin on it, we all fell in love with Dragonlance and it fueled our imagination for what it was, not what it could be. We need Henry Cavil vibes, he is working on Warhammer 40k, and has outright stated from the start he will be loyal to the lore, the books, and most importantly, us, the fans.

As the CEO of Steve Jackson Games, I approve of Joe wanting to play GURPS ;) (also I would have loved that D&D series so much! What a shame ;_;)

Funny, I stumbled upon this interview just after listening to the album "Immortal" by Pyramaze. It's a concept album insoired by and based onDragonlance. It really captures the vibe and I always wanted someone to use it for something more in the future

Joe is being too humble. He would be amazing as Sturm. I loved the first six books and I would love to see this get made.

Really hope you get to make it Joe. Love to see what you can do with the great books.
Do hope you stay true to the law. For example make dragons, dragons. Not wyverns.
Could give 100 more examples but you get the idea. Think your the guy for the job.

Wow! Growing up in school I strugled as a student and was a terrible reader. One day my best friend handed me Dragons of Autumn Twilight. From then on I consumed books. These books are dear to me. They made me the reader I still am today. I hope this will some day get made

"Anything artistic is seen as a commodity" absolutely correct, the unspoken problem nowadays is also, anything artistic is seen as a platform for faulty ideology. If this gets made expect the bait and switch, its just standard at this point.

God, it's been SO LONG since I last heard ANYONE mention the name of Mike Mearls. I know there was a huge controversy, like, 2018 iirc, regarding one of 5e's playtesters and Mearls was involved in that whole thing. I don't know if the man even works for WotC anymore. Could anyone try to explain to me what happened on that front in layman's terms? Because I never really understood the whole thing, or I just didn't really read up on that too much.

Well. I really do not know what to say, Jo. You voice out what many of us do not have the chance to do. Just like you I was amazed about the main Dragonlance novels. I today I am wondering how it is possible in 2034 to not have a movie or a series about this world. About the story of 2 amazing characters that are Caramon and Raistlin.
We can only cross our fingers that something out there happens. A turn of event that would change the minds of the people. So that you can fulfill your dream and ours for that matter. I think I we can just wish you all the luck for this project. The community wants it. The community needs it. 😊😊

As of right now someone is developing a board game based on DragonStrike; oddly enough TSR released a board game in 93 with the same name. I'd like to develop a DragonLance board game using 2e mechanics set up to provide the core AD&D experience except its Dragonlance; maybe with an attached video like the original. I currently do Audio Sourcebook Dragonlance segments for 2e based on TSR era material. Dragonlance is not Dead. Margaret and Tracy will still be promoting the 3rd DL book under Random House Worlds at Gen Con* , DL fans stop fighting over the dragon orbs..

Im 55 years old and was sucked into Dragonlance when I was 14 . I received DL1 and Dragons of Autumns Twilight as my Easter gift. I have loved the series since then. I hate what the Greedy owners are doing to it. I would love to see a Movie and series. Biting at the bit for the next season of Vox Machina.

Story like this is made for ANIME , they do that all the time.
Live-Action is more expensive and flawed in many ways, people age and you have to rush it.
Make a good pilot in an ANIME and if people love it, you get the chance to keep it going.

Not sure the direction of pilot. First novel ?
Loved the short character description in the first pages. Helped me as youth get into the book.
Having Fizban narrate early in a pointy hat like Gandalf? With old English type actor?

Verminaard needs to be huge, he's the last living descendant of Huma, and that legend needs to feed into just how incongruous Verminaard was. Joe could play him, sure, but there would definitely be better options.
On the other hand, Emperor Ariakas would have been really tough to NOT self-cast Joe in as.
I hope somehow things change, and somebody eventually gets to play those roles.

Thank you for this interview... and PLEASE let us have Dragonlance! Henry Cavill with Warhammer... Joe with Dragonlance? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I started on Conan, then went to Dragonlance... and then was hooked on fantasy. Unfortunately, Wheel of Time was destroyed. They're destroying Star Wars. Joe will elevate Dragonlance, the same way Henry will bring Warhammer into mass popularity.
