Praying for your wife brother- we just got a completely clear miracle scan for my wife’s stage 4 cancer. As we reflect- it is amazing what this journey has taught us with our 6 kids. Keeping moving forward and seeking the Lord.
Never feel like you owe UA-cam an explanation. We appreciate your professionalism and willingness to share trade specific content. Best wishes to you, your wife and family in the future. It’s good to hear you are learning on your faith.
Spencer, you owe us nothing, we owe you!!! I'm a hobbyist woodworker that enjoys your craftsmanship and work ethic. Above else, kudos for your testimony, praying for your wife and family.
Hey Spencer, great choice with your priorities. Take care of yourself, your wife and your kids. We're here whenever you're ready to come back. Best wishes.
Prayers brother. Been watching you for a long time, i appreciate all the lessons that have helped Me and my company improve. I pray for you, your wife, and family
No, Spencer you don't owe us anything. At least I personally don't feel like you owe me anything. Just keep uploading videos as long as you have time for that and fun but do never consider this a priority. I mean if I don't see a new video from you in a while it's not the end of the world for me. On the other hand your wife needs you by her side much more than the community. I sincerely wish her the best.
Spencer, I am a72 yr old very high end new home builder from NJ and learn something new on every one of your videos, glad to see your back, also i have cancer and know what you are going through but it gets better in time, God Bless.
Dude we missed you. You tube isn't the same without your content. The value of learning, techniques, business management, shop updates, and life lessons. Thanks man for sharing
Without question, your channel has provided the most value of any that I’ve consumed since joining the trades. You don’t owe a single one of us anything, so glad you recognized what you and your family needed to feel rejuvenated and take the necessary time to recuperate. Thank you for all that you do and the knowledge you so freely share with the world. You’re a unicorn in this space and we’re all immensely grateful!
I am one of your homeowners who is 100 % fascinated with your work. I hope and pray that your wife recovers fully. There's nothing more important in life than family and it's obvious that you have your priorities in the absolute correct order. I wish you well and I look forward to many more of your videos, but most of all I look forward to hearing that your wife has recovered. God Bless you and your family.
As an independent tradesman/ carpenter I need to force myself to take breaks due to the intense nature of the work. Couldn’t fathom making youtube content simultaneously. Appreciate you and hoping your family’s health continues to improve.
My wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rectal Cancer 9 years ago. They gave her 3 years to live, but through strong faith and constant positive visualization, she is still with us today. Unfortunately, it has returned, but it is in her lungs this time. The main saving grace is lung cancer moves much slower than the others. Chemo every other week for the rest of her life, but a small price to pay to stay on this side of the grass. I can't stress enough how much visualization helps fight this horrible crap.
Iam back I just want you to know I was at work today I am 60 years old and Iam an independent I install hardwood floors and sand finish them in the middle of my I thought you so I stoped and went to church and said a prayer for you and your wife so stay strong keep strong
Man I've tried to imagine what it'd be like to do my job, set up cameras, video my explanation and then still complete the work in a timely manner, and it's gotta be overwhelming at times. I think anyone in the industry will understand exactly where you're coming from on the burnout part. Also, believing for a full recovery and clear report for your wife, brother!
I gasped out loud when you said your wife had cancer!!! Very happy to hear she’s doing well and on the road to recovery!! As always…looking forward to your next post! Good to have you back Spencer!!
As with too many others, I was and still am by her side, through my wife's cancer and it is tough. It does, however, help you get your life's priorities straight in a hurry. I'm praying for your wife and your family, brother! Keep the faith and may God bless you and your family.
All work and no play makes Homer a dull boy. I love your content. You’re one of my favorite UA-cam channels. I’ll say a prayer for you and your wife. I can’t wait for you to drop a video on us.
I appreciate all you do. Not just the sheer amount of content you provide but also the quality and excellence that you provide to the building community is absolutely extraordinary and second to none. 50 years from now people will still be watching your videos for input. I pray for your wife's speedy recovery. Thank you again to you personally, for making me a better carpenter. God Bless.
Hey Spencer, I started watching your videos about 4 years ago around the time that our family was dealing with my wife facing kidney failure and needing a kidney transplant. Without any prior experience, your videos helped me learn how to rebuild our staircase, shelves with LED lighting, and many other trim carpentry projects around the house during the time leading up to her surgeries and recovery afterwards. It was a welcome distraction during that time of stress for our family. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. I pray this trial for you and your family will be made light.
Hey Spencer, I was wondering what happened to you. I am a DIY’er that enjoys finish carpentry and have learned so much from watching your informative videos. I know you mentioned your target audience is tradesman, but please know that you have helped me improve my craft, even though it’s on a much smaller scale. I’m sorry to hear about your wife’s cancer challenges, but the fact that you caught it early is a blessing. My dad had lung cancer that was also caught early, and he lived a full life. I look forward to future how-to videos from you and once again what to thank you for what you do. It is definitely appreciated by me! Hang in there and always take the time for yourself, even if it means posting less videos. We will still be there for you.😊
Teachers usually get the summer off, you are in fact a teacher, you should take the time every year. We'll all be back watching your videos as soon as you return. Your talent blows my mind, your videos have helped me several times while working on my own house, Thanks. Praying for your family. God Bless your family.
I'm a retired trim carpenter of 42 years and always enjoy watching your videos. You owe us nothing brother , my prayers are with you on your bump in the road. Stay optimistic and i'm sure it will all work out.
Spencer, I will add this comment even though it has already been said many times over, but you are appreciated very much as an inspiration, teacher, and standard bearer for finish work. That said, prayers for your wife's health and your family. They are your true priority as they should be. Us YT viewers will be here faithfully standing by for you to teach us all something new as your time allows.
Praying for your wife and family. You have been the best mentor to me on UA-cam to help me with my handyman business. I have told many other in the trade to follow you as well. Thank you for sharing.
You made a wise choice in taking some time to refresh and refocus. I seriously hope your wife make fast progress and a full recovery from the cancer. Looking forward to your upcoming videos, but only post them when you feel ready.
Prayers from my family to your wife and your family. Life values are always being put into perspective. Glad to hear from you and we await your future videos. Loyal subscribers appreciate your work.
Listening to you is like looking in a mirror. I retired as a painting contractor who was also a PGA instructor and a Monday qualifier. Everyday I felt I was walking in 2 separate directions. Oddly, I have persistent pneumonia and it’s being watched closely. I’m not going to offer advice but I will say that at some point in your future you will decide what your path is. There will be contentment but minimal joy because you will move toward something you know is right for you while leaving something behind. It’s like watching one of your kids get married, you’re overjoyed for them but they’ll never be all yours again. I wish you every happiness.
I’m so glad to see you back. Your videos are always a cut above. I’m sorry to hear about your wife. I stopped and prayed for her, you and your family I will continue praying for her recovery and your family.
Spencer, no need to apologize. Your channel is awesome and I’ve been re-watching old videos and still learning plenty. Keeping your priorities straight is important. Family and health should always take priority. All the best to you and your family.
Thanks for your candor, Spencer! As a pastor, I know all about creating “weekly content,” which is why many pastors and academics take sabbaticals of 3-6 months every 7 years! Good on you for taking yours and for keeping your “sickness and health” vow to your wife. We’ll look forward to whatever you create, whenever you create it! 🙏🏼
My wife was also recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Trying to stay positive just like you. Hope everything turns out ok. You two will be in my thoughts.
Spencer, I’m one of those DIY guys and you have been an absolute pleasure to learn from. I’m currently rehabbing a 1942 cottage using much of what I have learned from you and other UA-camrs. With that said thank you for updating all of us. You deserve a break. Many UA-camrs schedule a month long break every year. You should as well. My wife and I will pray for your wife and her recovery. All the best to you and your family. 🙏🙏
Thanks for the update. Even without your wife's health issues, taking time off for your mental health is the right thing to do. Prayers to your family. I'm not in the trades, but your content has been awesome for help with our own home. Even when you need to step away, your videos remain to teach and encourage.
Prayers for you and your wife and family from England. I first got into your videos five years ago as I had time off work after a heart attack at 60. I'm 65 now and still watching your videos. They were a lifeline for me (along with a few other woodworking video producers) as I went through a dark patch. Just remember, we're not physical beings having a spiritual experience, we're spiritual beings having a physical experience.
Spencer-glad to know you’re alive. Your content has added tremendous value to myself and my crew of carpenters. We’d happily pay for your content if we need to. So obvious that you walk with God which makes your content that much better. Peace be with you and hoping many blessings for your family.
Trim carpenter/remodeler here with 35 plus years experience. I really enjoy your videos Spencer. I've learned some great stuff from you. Will be praying for your wife.
As a non-carpenter, I really DO appreciate all your videos, even the more advanced techniques. It sets the bar high for anyone building their skills in this area. For those coming up in the trades - I think what you are doing is amazing. I just finished listening to your appearances on Modern Craftsman. You seem to be doing everything for the right reasons, your humility is inspiring, and your success should come as no surprise. Many thoughts and prayers to you and your family from the entire YT community!
I'm praying for your family. Cancer affects patients, spouses, family, and friends. Rest assured that you are always in God's hands. He is your maker and the reason you exist. I am 2.5 years out from my diagnosis and God has allowed me to continue on this earth. I pray that he has your wife in His plans for you. God bless you.
You don’t owe us anything man, you’ve blessed us with so many videos that have personally improved my carpentry skills. Take all the time you need. I’ll pray for your family, I appreciate you sharing your faith with us.
Prayers for you and your wife. So glad to hear that you put your faith in God🙏 My adult son was in the hospital for 2 weeks last month. It’s in these times when faith in the Lord makes it bearable
- My wife is a recent breast cancer survivor. Detected early. She too experienced the test, wait, treatment protocol as you described but now leads a healthy and happy life. Best to you and family. Thanks for the update.
Friend, you don't need to apologize to anyone since family is always the most important. You have always been a great inspiration to me when I started my finish carpentry business a year ago. I wish you all the best for your wife and hope she gets well soon. THANK YOU
Blessings to you and your family. Praying for continued good health. I will never be a "carpenter" but watching a pro like you makes me feel like I'm I'm working alongside you. Come back when you're ready, leave when you need to. Peace
You definitely, without a doubt, deserved a break, Spencer! Glad to hear you feel more rejuvenated, and got time out on the course! Praying for your wife, it isn’t an easy haul but gotta have faith that it’s in God’s hands. My mother-in-law went through the same situation last year, brought to light from a fluke CT scan. It was a lot of testing, procedures, and waiting. In the end, she is okay now, but it really was a huge eye-opener for us. We get time with her everyday still, and she gets to see her grandson continue to grow up. All the best, Spencer!
Good to see you back. Burnout is certainly a thing not to mention your wife’s health. Glad you’re looking at a positive prognosis. Juggling life, work, and personal interests is hard and stepping away is rejuvenating. I’m a DIY guy but much enjoy your videos, demeanor, and teaching style. There’s a lot of good craftspeople in the world but sadly not so many who can put their thought process into words and video and you truly have that gift. My thoughts and prayers for healing are with you and your family and I wish you all nothing but the best.
Hey there Spencer. I am a big fan of your work and teaching. I have gleaned so much from your videos over the past years and want to thank you for sharing it with us all. I'm truly sorry to hear of your wife's diagnosis of cancer and will certainly be praying for her and your family as well. Blessings Cory
Thanks so much for sharing this Spencer. I’ve been following your stuff for a while and it’s a huge blessing. I will be praying for you and for your wife for complete healing.
Prayers for your wife and your family Spencer. Thank you for all of the time you take to upload these videos. I appreciate them and have enjoyed and learned so much from so many of them.
Spencer you are the absolute man, you were definitely missed but the time off from youtube was well deserved! My thoughts are with your wife and your family, keep up the good fight
11 years ago my wife went through cancer, surgery was in spring of 2014 A verse that was a big blessing, during that time Malachi 4:2 (KJV) But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings… Praying for you and your family
Lots of prayer and nothing but love for you guys. Family first. If you need to drop off, we will pray. And yes, we do check in regularly and rewatch often.
I’m really glad you’re taking care of yourself and your wife. I’m I’m a kitchen fitter and I’ve learned a lot from you and you’ve proved my way of making living and I can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done.
Always loved your content and completely understand, your well being and the well being of your family must come first, sending love and prayers for you and your wife! Also, congrats on the single digit handicap, that is not easy to do! Dan
I just wanted to pile on. I have really appreciated your content. Especially the focus on speed and efficiency, while not loosing quality. There is very little I can't do in the finish carpentry realm. However, doing it fast enough to make money is a skill I really struggle with. You are a real master in that regard, both in the doing and the teaching, and I always enjoy your content. It has made me a significantly better carpenter. Take the time you need. Your content is worth the wait, and we will be here for you when life gets manageable. I'm praying for you wife. I hope the road there isn't too arduous.
Love your channel! But family is the core, praying for a healthy return! You are strongest together! And you and your family are always supported and prayed for!
Prayers for your wife’s full recovery. Your channel is one of my favorites. Your always on target with real craftsmanship presented with a positive attitude and top shelf work ethic. You take care of your wife, family and yourself. ❤
Just two days ago I went looking for you again. And here you are. So glad you're back. I love the content, but more, I appreciate the quiet humble atmosphere you never fail to deliver. Thank you Spencer.
Spenser, Prayers and Thoughts for you and your wife and family! So glad you all found it early. And four months is NOT a long break. Trust me. The longer the break, the better the work you'll always do when you return.
Spencer, I have learnt so much from your channel. Awesome that you took the time to back off from work a little and spend more time on things you enjoy. Sorry to hear about your wife's cancer - praying for her and you. Carpenter in NZ
Take care of yourself and the Mrs. whatever that takes! (You need to be healthy to help her! Been there, done that and continue to this day). Blessings to you and your family!
Praying for your wife brother- we just got a completely clear miracle scan for my wife’s stage 4 cancer. As we reflect- it is amazing what this journey has taught us with our 6 kids. Keeping moving forward and seeking the Lord.

I get my scan in about 4 weeks. Stage 4 cancer also. Prayer is a necessity for our lives. No matter what the results, God is good.
So sorry to hear about your wife Spencer. God's blessing to you and your family.
Spencer, you owe us nothing, we owe you!!! I'm a hobbyist woodworker that enjoys your craftsmanship and work ethic. Above else, kudos for your testimony, praying for your wife and family.

As a professional cabinet builder it’s nice to know others in this trade go through burnout and it’s not just me.
We will be praying for your wife and your family, Spencer.

Prayers going out for a complete healing and peace for your family.

As an independent tradesman/ carpenter I need to force myself to take breaks due to the intense nature of the work. Couldn’t fathom making youtube content simultaneously. Appreciate you and hoping your family’s health continues to improve.
Praying for your wife and family!! Thank you for all your teaching and beautiful work!!

Blessings to you and your family. Praying for continued good health. I will never be a "carpenter" but watching a pro like you makes me feel like I'm I'm working alongside you. Come back when you're ready, leave when you need to. Peace
Prayers for you and your family. We're in the cancer trenches, as well. It has a way of making you take a step back to look at priorities.
Prayers for you, your wife and her doctors & medical team! Thanks for the update!
Blessings
Cory

Spencer you are the absolute man, you were definitely missed but the time off from youtube was well deserved! My thoughts are with your wife and your family, keep up the good fight
11 years ago my wife went through cancer, surgery was in spring of 2014
A verse that was a big blessing, during that time
Malachi 4:2 (KJV) But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings…

Always loved your content and completely understand, your well being and the well being of your family must come first, sending love and prayers for you and your wife! Also, congrats on the single digit handicap, that is not easy to do! Dan
Prayers going up for your wife's health and your sanity. It can be overwhelming at times. Faith as you say though, is the key to it all brother. 🙏
Thanks Gary! I’ll take that wisdom to heart!
@InsiderCarpentry two of my favorite carpenters !! Prayers go out to you and your family Spencer ! Your the man
Spencer, I have learnt so much from your channel.
