Is there a video or clip of her typing her own sentences out? I see her hitting preloaded selections. Which is in a coherent order. But I'd love to see how her process is of articulating and editing her own words. I want to show my nonverbal daughter videos of how hard it is and long and how she can do it and to have patience with herself and stick to it. Give her a role model.
@@seyyeddibaj9735 yeah! Here’s a short one, she’s talked about how it was hard to get out what she wanted to say while only being able to type with one finger as well. I hope this helps your kid ua-cam.com/video/nkoGDQzurn0/v-deo.html
@@seyyeddibaj9735 I'm sure she has her questions and witty jokes pre-set(as well as potential answers) so that she doesn't take a super long time to type it out while hosting.
Well, damn. She's at least as funny as most of the writing on late night. Which isn't a slam on late night writers; quite the opposite. Subscribing to her show right now.
I'm so glad they did this! It was a bummer that the Night of Too Many Stars interview didn't work out, so this was nice. Also Carly is freakin' savage 😂
I felt really bad for her after watching Night of Too Many Stars. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for someone with severe autism to do a live show, when so many things can go not-as-planned. I commend her bravery for attempting it. This interview seemed pretty safe and scripted, but it was still very smart and funny.
Carly’s parents have perpetrated a fraud on the public hat misrepresents autism in the name of autism acceptance and for their own self-serving interests. We saw the real Carly on the Night of Too Many Stars; a person severely affected by autism. This well-edited (taped) interview is like all others attributed to Carly. Pay no attention to the man (Arthur Fleischmann) behind the curtain.
The most touching and poignant part of this was at the very end, when Carly VOCALIZED "Thank you." That's how much this meant to her, folks. Above all else, that part was the most amazing of all, in my eyes.
I love this, but I also love how positive the comment section is here! let's go internet, and show people that we can be kind and appreciate an awesome comic like Carly!
This is so heart warming I love both of u😘she looked so nervous and he tried so hard to make her comfortable. There are still some good people in this world
i understand Carly and her challenges as a person who has autism on a personal level because i was diagnosed with autism when i was ten years old today I am currently 23 years old i am on the adult swim team for my local health club i enjoy starting my Tuesday and Thursday mornings by getting up early in the morning to go swimming i make videos about the challenges i face as a person who has autism
Thank you Steven, for making this happen. As parent to a brilliant almost 8 year old boy w/nonverbal autism, I love to see Carly Fleishmann help to raise awareness. This was a great forum, and you were such a great sport. What a fun interview! As my guy is learning to make sentences more and more with his iPad, this is what I envision not too far off at home, too. Thank you so much for honouring this interview.
Finally, I've bewen waiting for this since the Night of too many stars. Carly is hilarious! Please offer her to come on the show more often to make a back stage interview with the guests. If it has to be really short you could call it CBS 60 Seconds and only let the timer run when she is speaking. Those 60 seconds can last a long time and get you really far.
Mr Colbert, i hail to the king of Late Night shows, and the pure down to earth humanity. I look up to you as a role model, sir. Perth, Western Australia
It was so sweet of Jon Stewart to explain the technical difficulty & letting us know the real problem of a live show. The way he took responsibility for the confetti was just amazing. Love Jon Stewart till the end. Kudos to Stephen for letting this happen on his show.
THIS IS AMAZING AND I LOVE IT!!! Make this either a recurring segment or hire her on to your writing staff cuz this young woman is amazing! I feel we, as a society, need to show more empathy for people who are different from us and dont necessarily think the exact same way we do. Having more people who are different than us in the spotlight, showing that we really are all the same, is key to "normalizing" the differences that all of us share.
Cousin Ant -Still much higher than yours!!! if u function in the EQ as well, omg, dude, run to the nearest clinic for a free vasectomy, we don't need more of u!
Cousin Ant Well Carly isn't intellectually challenged, she's non-verbal, so you have no reason to suspect that. Also you said underdeveloped, kids that are molested aren't necessarily underdeveloped. One more thing, Rain Man wasn't accused of sexual harassment, Dustin Hoffman (who, as far as I know, has no intellectual disability) was. Rain Man was a character, not a real person. Psychopaths, who do often have a history of animal abuse, are not the same as autistic individuals. Also, calling her spastic is making fun of someone with Autism, like some little kid.
I love how awesome and calm she is considering this is her first time in Ed Sullivan theater shooting in front of a large crowd for a top rated TV show. I hope she gets her own show and brings out people like her who have overcome autism and other illnesses through their metal fortitude and determination. In fact, I hope Stephen too brings more guests like her who are truly inspiring instead of Hollywood celebrities, politicians and media bigwigs.
I’ve been following this hilarious lady for a few years now after reading her book. If you don’t know of her you will. Cause neuro-diverse people are kicking ass and taking jobs. Love you Carly!

Wow phenomenal. For anyone who hasn't seen it, check out her abc 20/20 clip from a few years ago. When she was growing up her parents didn't know she could understand everything they were saying and she was a normal kid in her head, just not able to communicate. Very inspiring story.
She's such a natural that they have to cut and trim every single question because she either sits there awkwardly rocking back and forth for a good 5 to 10 seconds. I seriously defy you to find ANY other mainstream interview host who's segments are this heavily edited and staged. Alternatively she autistically starts mashing the soundboard when he's in the middle of doing a bit, like at 3:49 She's NOT a good interviewer. She has a disability that specifically prevents her from being a good interviewer. You people are a bunch of delusional bleeding hearts, squinting at a mouse long and hard enough for you to convince yourself that it's a lion. It's not!

Professor T even if it was true what you say, why would be bad to do anything in favour of autism aceptance?
Because the parents are exploiting their child.
