No offense intended, but there's no connection between the two works other than having swans as their subjects. Saint-Saëns was illustrating the fleeting nature of beauty with an interpretation of the legend of the "swan song." Best wishes from Vermont ❄️💙❄️

The violoncello is not really my favourite instrument, but Maisky somehow makes me believe that it is.
