I’ve followed Annie Clark since she was with the polyphonic spree, This is what a naturally talented artists evolution looks like. So original, a true innovator 👍 long live Annie ❤
I echo everyone else in saying that this is a phenomenal performance. It's refreshing and frankly inspiring to see an artist so committed to and immersed in her music and performance. If you love St. Vincent, then you might like PJ Harvey, especially her albums in the 90's: Dry (1992), Rid of Me (1993), 4 Track Demos [Rid of Me Demos] (1993), To Bring You My Love (1995), Dance Hall at Louse Point (1996), Desire (1998).
I was just thinking that Annie like Paly Jean would have created something just wickedly beautiful if she had the chance to ever collaberate with Mark Lanegan. Annie and PJ is still a real possibility. St. Vincents concert in France last month with the opening song being Reckless..literally blew my Pioneer Amp aftert the intro and into the first Chorus when the Bass super drops and Boom! Zap! With a little smidge of smoke that smelt like burnt hotdogs emitted from it and yep. Annie with St. Vinnie are so unbelievably fierrce and omnipotent..They literally killed my Amp. I gave an instant standing ovation and then listened to the rest of the show on my headphones. Thoroughly impressed and other than Christine and the Queens or Nell SMith whom tragically died so young a month ago at 17..there hasnt been such intensly and very gifted composeurs and performers like them in quite awhile. Melissa Moffat,Ethel Cain, Sierra Ferral come to mind from perhaps the laast decade. Now Im wondering if Lana Del Rey and Annie have collabed yet and should. Annie could tech her a thing or two about structure in final compositions before recording as she is very technically goifted in that realm.Where LDR needs a supportive Coach and Tutor on how to finish with a Masterpiece instead of just yet another possible Radio Friendly Hit which she tends to pump out dozens at a time.Yet dont get the fine tuning that Annie is very equipped and talented at.
Yeah, there is a resemblance. For sure. But Polly is more diverse voice wise. I’ve seen both artist live a few times, and Harvey is a much better vocalist. Lyrically they are both great, and performance wise they are even I would say. Anyway, we can enjoy both. Thank god for real talent. Yeah!
Incredible performance, in fact one could argue iconic. Annie (St Vincent) is a truly inspriational artist, her commitment and dedication to her music and shape-shifting personas; it has to be revered. She really does encapsulate that 'Bowie-figure' of the 21st Century, yet a master of her craft in her own right. Quite sensational. Also, have to applaud the Jools Holland production team here. That combination of impressive sound mixing, along with excellent directing, makes this one to remember. Certaintly one of the stronger moments, I can recall in the show's history. Congratulations to all involved.
i have been so in love with her for over a decade that I can't stand it. I will have seen her 3x, once on Daddy's Home tour, once with David Byrne and I'm definitely seeing THIS TOUR ON THIS ALBUM 7.11.25 when she's playing 20 minutes from Lisbon, where I just moved. She is Vesuvius and we are mere mortals in Pompeii.
The people on this thread who have called this boring should watch/listen to the current top 20 to reacquaint themselves with what the word really means. Nice to see Charlotte Kemp Muhl being enigmatic on bass. Annie always gets the coolest people in her band.
That was definitely one of, if not the most committed performance I've seen from Annie for this tune. I expect she picked up a few bruises along the way.
talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it
Definitely one of her best performances this year, could this song get any better?. Only thing that would have top it as unexpected might be if she would of set herself on fire (with the right care ofc) like in the vid while dancing... but still, she did the dance, she gave that raw energy, she ate 🔥👏
Great live performance with that fuzz guitar, Which is your sound, ya knees joints are still good with those moves, I like unpredictable music that doesn’t conform…
This performance convinced me that rock truly is NOT dead. That's a kind of charisma the scene's been missing for so many years.
You can say that again...! Decades..!
go watch amyl and the sniffers this is tame and contrived compared to that
What a ridiculous thing to say. Just shows how much you know about rock.
rock never died...you've just not been looking hard enough.
You don’t know what rock is then because this is terrible.
The mixing and audio engineering on all these Jools Holland performances are always miles ahead of anything else.
Glad someone understands what goes on behind all this
Howard Sterns audio production is pretty sweet on the live performances, at least to my ears. Any thoughts?
best live performance of this song. come on girl give us EVERYTHING

I've never seen or heard SV before; but the very first thing that came to mind was PJ Harvey. A heavier more distorted version of PJ.
This song in particular reminds me of early Polly Jean for sure
Annie Clark was heavily influenced by Kate Bush….❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is half hilarious, half badass, full on talent assault. Performative and compositionally. Annie’s constant evolution is pretty rad.
You her agent ?
@ Go back to exercising LaLanne. Hating looks bad on you.
She's amazing.

The sound mixing was great on this.
Phenomenal performance 🖤
Well this is a raw wake up on a Sunday morning
Saw her in September in a 1000 person standing room venue. One of my top ten live shows of all time. She’s incredible.
Best concert is in small venue. I paid small fortune to see stones and bowie in club
St. Vincent's music demands that you take note & listen! Just love the album ALL BORN SCREAMING. Thanks for posting - great live performance.
Best artist on the planet. She’s amazing.
Nah man, this title belongs only to one band and it’s Fontaines D.C.
Great performance tho 👍🏻
@@vitaliydickson2530 Massive Fontaines fan but come on
Best song on the album and one of Annie’s best songs period
Thanks Jools. I hadn’t come across St Vincent before but it’s badass so I’m in 🔥

I simply love St.Vincent ❤
Love this performance.
Love her stage and lighting design .. looks like she took the interpretation of Goya's Black Paintings on everything of the performance.
The black and white colors with black and white lights sometimes give it a sepia look….

Nice to see Charlotte Kemp Muhl being enigmatic on bass. Annie always gets the coolest people in her band.

That was definitely one of, if not the most committed performance I've seen from Annie for this tune. I expect she picked up a few bruises along the way.

Annie is amazing. I have just bought the Spanish version of 'All Born Screaming'.
Think I'm in love with St Vincent ❤
She is gay.

Brilliant performance, makes me want to see her live in 2025.
She’s strange, seductive, provocative, and a very talented artist.
Awesome performance, channeling her inner PJ Harvey.
Wow.
Loved it

Grrreat. Fuckin great song and performance.
Wow, amazing performance, as someone else said, echoes of PJ Harvey…
If you think this is great, watch The Greatest Performance Of The Year By St Vincent in Mexico City last weekend….❤️❤️❤️❤️
