My house is about 200m north of the house that you rented. And you are right, everything rusts. However Umdloti is a wonderful place to live. We have virtually no crime at all. I spend most of my waking hours at home on my veranda enjoying the view and regularly seeing whales and dolphins. When the conditions are good I walk down to the beach and go for a dive to catch crayfish. My house’s name is Ezulwini (Paradise) and it’s a very suitable name. Have to be very aware of the monkeys and make sure that all windows and doors are closed or they will steal and make a mess. They always seem to go for the bread first. Some are very bold and will attempt to walk right past us sitting on our veranda on their way to the kitchen.

Car’s don’t rust nearly as badly as they used to. Regular washing and immediate repairs to any damage to the paint work and it’s fine.
