Is it possible to create a public Shopify app using php? I read some time before on the community forum that someone created his app using php and it wasn't approved because of this. Plus there is no official library and documentation for php. I thought that php is mostly suitable for some private apps which don't need to be approved. But for a public app it is much better to use node.js or ruby. That is why I knowing php started to learn node.js. BTW thanks for your channel. There is very little information about Shopify app development. Mostly just official documentation, there are a lot of different APIs, libraries, framework etc. and I couldn't understand for a long time how to connect all of this together to create an app.
Hello! It's possible to use PHP for public or private apps. I have developed multiple Shopify apps using PHP and they are approved to be displayed on the app store. I am certain that the language is not the reason why the app is not approved.
Do you have to pay the monthly fee on shopify to have a store, so you could develop for it and you can make sure it works on shopify .. or can you somehow create your own dev environment that lets you run your themes and apps ? Not that it's expensive - I think 29/month - but dont want to be paying that while I'm learning the development

No, you don't have to pay. Just go to Shopify Developers and create a partners account.
