I like making some of my Christmas cards in July to get a jump start since summer doesn't have card holidays😊 Then, I make the rest in fall once my Halloween and Thanksgiving cards are finished❣
Our family has a lot of summer birthdays. We always have reasons to make cards, all year, here. Sometimes, just to say Hi!, thinking of you, etc. But, yes, summer may be a good time to start Christmas cards, too.
Ardyth you have the patience of a saint! I could never do this without either swearing or just giving up. The results are stunning and I appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge. Thank you
Every year I aim to start my Christmas cards in July. That way I have a much better chance of getting them done in time. GORGEOUS cards with that die! Love it!
I start making mine in June. This year, because of the pandemic, I mailed out “Christmas in July” cards to brighten the day for the recipients. Everyone was surprised and loved them. I so enjoy writing...I always run out of space before I run out of words! I also buy the happiest postage stamps I can find. The staff at my Post Office start bringing out their stamp designs when they see me coming.
I always appreciate multiple cards made with one set of supplies. Most of us have such a large inventory after doing this craft for a number of years, and it is wonderful to be able to make cards, especially Christmas cards with a minimum of supplies! Thank you for all your great ideas and techniques!
The die is fantastic and the inlay really makes the cards works of art. The one with the black background is a definite WOW!!. Thank you, Ardyth for this tutorial. The more I make and watch cards made, the more I like to see a use for everything. Even blended inks left on the work surface. No waste, more product, happier planet. 💖🇨🇦
Agree, with most viewers it's never to early to make Christmas cards. I seriously start in July/August but make a few Christmas cards throughout the year. It depends on the die, stamp or stencil, love to experiment with what I have.
Your creative techniques are so awesome! Thanks so much for sharing your incredible talent! Blessings & Hugs from Canada! Love these two cards and always looking out for more of your videos.
Thanks so much! I'm trying to post weekly, mostly on Fridays. You can click the bell under the video and get a notification sent to your inbox, if you want! Thanks for watching!
I save my USED dryer sheets and then take them all to the craft area. I then always have a supply of dryer sheets to use for my die cutting and am recycling at the same time. The used ones work great.
Never too early to make Christmas cards!! Beautiful cards, great inspiration. And a great tip from another card maker on UA-cam is using “press and seal” kitchen wrap. I started using that and I really like it. Thank you for a great tutorial 👍
I purchase supplies for Christmas no later than August and begin as soon as I can. I make 80 -100 personal cards and 65 with friends for a nursing home. That takes a fair amount of time. Love the stained glass look you achieved. Thanks.
Unlike Charlie Brown, I don’t do well under pressure😆. I have small 3 ring binders with plastic page protectors. I have a pocket for each birthday & special occasion & each one has at least one card in it. Once I take the last card out, I make a new one for the next year.
Love your creativity, Ardyth. And I thought that about the dye as well. Love paper piecing, so I've been making Christmas cards every time I get it out.
I love your cards. Especially the stained glass one! That’s a great tip to put the yellow in the center to replicate a glow. It is never too early to make Christmas cards! Thanks to Covid 19 all 60 of mine have been done for months already! A positive spin on a very unfortunate event.
I really appreciate your videos. You are prepared, your designs are beautiful and you get right down to it. I feel like you value your subscribers time so don’t waste it jabbering about extraneous stuff. I cannot tell you how wonderful that is. Your videos always have a lot of interesting techniques and content and you provide additional ideas to take the cards to the next level. Thank you very much.
Not too early at all to make beautiful Christmas cards! I tend to start with Christmas in July, but I am still creating cards for all the graduates I know from this year, so I'll be starting in September sometime.
Sounds like you have it under control, Ruth! The poor 2020 graduates! I know they'll love to have cards to mark their achievement in this crazy year! Thanks for watching!
I always make my Christmas cards in January. Holiday break seems a good time. Still in the spirit and no pressure later in the year. Your cards are stunning too. Love these ideas x
Goodness, Ardyth...there is no end to your creativity! Your Christmas cards using a non-Christmas die are absolutely spectacular! The stained glass one....positively swooning over how gorgeous it is! Thank you once again for sharing inspiration with us! hugs~carol
Fun ideas! I made a few Christmas cards already this year. Usually I do not get inspired till November, but have enjoyed making a few earlier in the year.
I absolutely appreciate this video Ardyth! I agree that it's never to early. The pressure can be so overwhelming and take the fun away! Thanks so much!
Thanks - Christmas is great because it's so happy, and I hope you find that these ideas would work for other types of happy cards too! Thanks so much for watching. (as for the face bit, it is the scariest part of making videos, so thank you for saying that! lol!)
This is what i do... i turn the cut out die onto an "older" matt from my Cameo you can pop them out and they will stay til you pick them up. I have some really cool quilt dies and for them to look realistic you need to cut the same die out of multiple colors/pattern paper.
Ardyth Percy-Robb I’m trying to build a variety of dies , found the one you used on AliExpress 🙂, most everything I have is holiday themed. This is the third new craft in about 5 years,I guess I don’t have a very long attention span🤷♀️😉 ,
@@lindafrier26 Love your enthusiasm (and completely identify with the short attention span!) , but please be aware that often designs (stamps and dies) on AliExpress are stolen from small businesses in other parts of the world. They have lower prices because they do not do the work themselves and often use inferior materials to make the product. I know that PinkFresh Studios would appreciate the business if you can shop there directly!
Ardyth Percy-Robb If these don’t work I will try the small businesses. I don’t really like buying from AliExpress but right now it’s what I can afford.🙂
I usually don’t make my own personal Christmas cards until closer to the end of the year - I like to make sure they reflect my “mood” and if I do them too early I change my mind. But I make holiday cards for donations throughout the year.
I hear what you're saying. I also like to be able to use 'new' Christmas product when it's available which is generally later in the year. Thanks for watching!
September..but I really enjoy sharing them with folks in retirement homes. This year I found out they also want cards to send!!! Yay! So I might be busy sooner!
YAY! For the past few years I have been making cards for churches to send out - check out my Tips for making Multiples/Mass Production if you want! What a lovely way to serve the community! Thanks for watching!
I start singing Christmas carols on July 1, because that is the earliest my family can tolerate. Never too early to start Christmas cards! So many ways to get these gorgeous cards. Thanks for sharing.
Such a great idea....I have this die, can’t wait to try it out....the shading and metallic frame gives it a whole new look....thank you for sharing your artsy talents with us!
August is a great time to start making Christmas cards! It is no fun for me to be under pressure with a deadline. Getting Christmas cards made early is a much better way to go IMHO.
You are preaching to the choir! lol! I love to be organized and ahead of schedule, there always seems to be something that needs to be done at the last minute! Thanks so much for watching!
I always try to start Christmas cards in late August, but then end up scrambling after procrastinating another month and a half. 😂 Love these card ideas, and will definitely be using some of these techniques in my rotation this year. Thanks so much for sharing!
I love your stained glass card! The colors are so refreshing and happy! I came to see how to get more use out of my dies, but the stained glass was my favorite lesson!
Could I offer a suggestion? Running the die through with an embossing pad underneath would give you the outline area to ink blend, before cutting with regular plates. Then you wouldn't have to fuss with inking pieces. Lovely cards.
Haha! That's what I call 'faux' inlaid die cutting and I did a video about that as well! You're right, it gives a similar look! Thanks so much for watching!
That is so nice of you to say. I find the voice (and the face!) the hardest part of this whole thing, so I really appreciate your comment! Thanks for watching!
Wow! Every card is stunning but I'm loving the stained glass technique & the blended border on black both are so striking. I keep seeing Christmas cards & love watching but can't bring my self to start. BUT you may be the inspiration I need! Thx.
I usually start Christmas cards in January when I still have lots of ideas. This year, I’m late and started in July. I especially like your ink blending over stencil. That one just does it for me. The stained glass is gorgeous but more work than I’m willing to do.😋
I've done that too - kind of the 'leftover' ideas that I didn't get to! And I hear you on the stained glass - it was fun to do, but I won't be making multiples of it! The stencilled one gives a similar look in a lot less time! Thanks for watching!
I usually start mine in October after a local stamp show. Since covid , most shows for the year have been canceled. I have been playing with stuff I already have. The bad part of me starting my cards this early is, I don't want to give them away. Also, its been in the 90s and already had a hurricane. Not feeling xmasy yet. Thanks for sharing this. I have a few dies I could use this technique on.
Great ideas! I have the perfect poinsettia background die to try these out 👍🏼 I do Christmas cards all through the year whenever I feel like it….Christmas is my favorite!
Hi Ardyth, I‘m afraid, I had all the Christmas cards which I will be personally sending out (about 40) done in - February :) So I am not going to tell you, you are too early! I will now have to keep myself entertained by making cards to give away to other people… You and your stunning ideas ARE partly to blame, so, as always, THANK YOU for the inspiration! Kind regards, Nicola
😂🤣😂🤣 I didn’t join Christmas in July, but I DID pull out all my fall, winter and holiday papers yesterday. 😃 I was wondering the same thing.💙 Thanks for the trick about folding card stock to get multiple layers BEFORE die cut. 🤦🏽♀️😂
Oh, that's a good hack that I got from another cardmaking friend. Just don't use cardstock that is too thick. I find 80lb is about the max before the edges of the dies cuts are less clean. But if I do that twice, I get 4 layers of 80lb cardstock for my die cut and it's nice and sturdy! Thanks for dropping by!
That's nice! I like to think of cards as a physical manifestation of good wishes. That makes them very special, whatever our beliefs are! Thanks so much for watching!
I love to make them all year! Have you heard of the Card Maker Success Summit - it's a 4 day free event to get a jumpstart on your holiday cards - we'd love to see you join!ardythpr--stampmesomelove.thrivecart.com/vip-all-access-pass/60935481fc73f/
OMG,this comment made me giggle. If you hate it I'm surprised you kept it. But I also think it's great that you want to give it another try. If you're having trouble with it cutting properly, try positioning it on your cutting plate on a bit of a tilt so one corner of the die goes in first. That often makes a difference. I hope you end up enjoying it! And thank you so much for watching!
I love your ideas Ardyth, 3 amazing ways to use one die! Loved the stained glass technique and am amazed how just some blending gave such beautiful effect.
Wow Ardyth, your cards are stunning. I do not think it's too early to start making Christmas cards. I usually start experimenting with my design ideas around now and then when I am happy with the design I start working in earnest. 😊
Love your card videos, thank you for sharing all your ideas, loved the doubling over your card stock with double sided tape in between before die cutting, don't think I've seen that before xxx
This year I started my Christmas cards while in quarantine so I am mostly done. Last year which was my first year to make all 85 I started in September and finished by Thanksgiving then I used a family picture from Thanksgiving on the inside 🤞🏻I can do the same this year. Your cards are all stunning ❤️ them all
I absolutely love these techniques! You are so talented. And it's never too early to start Christmas cards. I make them year round. Thanks for sharing!
I like making some of my Christmas cards in July to get a jump start since summer doesn't have card holidays😊 Then, I make the rest in fall once my Halloween and Thanksgiving cards are finished❣
I have really enjoyed having a focus on Christmas for the month of July this year, and I am feeling quite well-prepared! Thanks so much for watching!
Our family has a lot of summer birthdays. We always have reasons to make cards, all year, here. Sometimes, just to say Hi!, thinking of you, etc. But, yes, summer may be a good time to start Christmas cards, too.
These are incredibly gorgeous. The stained glass card is one of the best handmade cards I have ever seen.
Oh wow! That is high praise! Thank you so much for watching!

The stained-glass card is probably the prettiest card I’ve seen all year!
And that is probably the nicest comment I've had all year! Thank you so much!
The inlaid brick idea for the fireplace is AWESOME! I am truly inspired. Thank you!

I save my USED dryer sheets and then take them all to the craft area. I then always have a supply of dryer sheets to use for my die cutting and am recycling at the same time. The used ones work great.
OMG. YOU ARE A GENIUS! Thank you! Seems so obvious now! lol! Thanks for sharing that tip! And thanks for watching!
It's never too early to start Christmas crafting. Ijust love making all things Christmas 🤶
Me too! It makes me happy! Even if it's hot and summery outside! Thanks for watching!

Good idea!! I may use the extra pieces I made, and try the other ideas I didn't get around to in November!!
Great cards. LOVE the stained glass look of the 2nd card. I am going to try this technique. Thank you as always.
YAY! That's what I like to hear! Thanks for watching, Denise!

New to card die cutting and can’t get enough of this kind of tutorial 🌟 and yes I am making Christmas cards now. These are simple and sophisticated😊
Yay! It's a fun (and slightly addictive) hobby! Thanks so much for watching, LInda!
Ardyth Percy-Robb I’m trying to build a variety of dies , found the one you used on AliExpress 🙂, most everything I have is holiday themed. This is the third new craft in about 5 years,I guess I don’t have a very long attention span🤷♀️😉

This one is wowzers! Great inspiration, thank you!
Thanks for watching!

Thanks so much for watching!
Love your card videos, thank you for sharing all your ideas, loved the doubling over your card stock with double sided tape in between before die cutting, don't think I've seen that before xxx
Thanks so much for watching!
