No need for your product but appreciate your skills and ability to articulate and share the process. Never give up but never be afraid to move on to the next thing.
Man this amazing, i was laid off 16months ago and decided to design and manufacture (also using bambu) my own product. It takes so much longer than i thought 😭, good luck brotha, this video helped
Having prototyped various products, both in my current job, and for fun/in my free-time; I'd suggest you to consider switching over to MJF/SLS for final production. Third-parties, such as PCBWay/JLCPCB/etc offer low volume and low cost nylon printing, so you don't really need to worry about post processing, tolerances (well, to some degree), print failures, and most importantly: no need for support material! Prototyping with FDM is amazing, and there's no low cost substitute. For manufacturing, assembling and shipping actual products to customers; it's not _that_ great. Don't get me wrong, it's very functional, but it has very obvious limitations. I wish you all the best on your journey!
This channel is super underrated. The editing has improved so much. The engineering skills I'm already super jealous of. Major evolution and done super quickly in my eyes
Dude you understanding of every little detail of a product is GOAT status. When you done making this one make one last video for you CV for the 6 figure job you will no doubt be heading into. This series has be inspirational. Seriously well done.
Thanks so much man, it means a lot. This is definitely the best learning experience I could ask for if I decide to go to a PD firm. But honestly that isn’t the plan. I think I’m gonna stick out the entrepreneurship as long as I can haha
woow congrats!! really liked the progress and tha way you share it I think you're one of the few that understands journey is more important the destination
Dude, this is amazing. Not only are your videos very well edited, but the technical and business expertise that you clearly convey is off the charts. Can’t wait to keep watching your vids!!
Found this video in perfect time, I am about to launch a new product, (first time) and have thought there is a niche that is mostly unfilled on youtube. Being the "maker" that also understands business. There are a ton of makers, and a ton of product/business builders, but rarely do the business people know how to engineer, or the makers focus on the business side. You have hit many great points, and are very circumspect on both of facets. Also, great video production and editing, I learned a lot more than just what you said, so thank you! Great job! this is the first video of yours that I have ever seen, and instant like, and sub. Look forward to more content that bridges the maker/business/well-produced worlds, thank you! :-)
I hope you achieve all your goals. It is strange that I am going through something very similar to what you are doing in inventing and manufacturing a new product. Good luck.
Hey Noam! This is really cool. I'm so glad that the board powered up first try. I would love to see more about your pogo pin setup. Are you using an MCU that can't easily be flashed by USB? I'm on my own hardware journey, and one of the things I've gotten a ton out of is John Teel's Hardware Academy. Amazing community and courses/workshops on everything that keeps us up at night, pondering the infinite decision tree rabbit hole Jenga deathmatch. My only pushback for you is that I think that 3D printed enclosures are for prototyping. It's basically impossible to make something 3D printed that isn't a brittle toy which people perceive as cheap. For this device, I would look at using a Carvera CNC or maybe a Roly Lasermatic to do a wood enclosure. There's also been some pretty incredible recent developments in the injection mold world where it's now possible to 3D print your molds so you can realistically make real plastic enclosures for high $$$ to low $$$$ instead of $$$$$. If you're interested, there's a workshop about it on Hardware Academy, or I can also introduce you to someone doing it on a small scale basis.
Hey thanks for the tips. For the TAG connect, it’s a lot faster than USB. It’s the correct move for scale I think. As for enclosures, I kind of disagree. It’s certainly not a brittle toy, and cost wise blows wood and CNC out of the water. Injection molding is fair but not at this early of a stage, the startup costs are too high considering it still tweaking the design here and there too. I’ll probably make the cases out of MJF nylon once I’m preparing the next big batch which’ll be even stronger.
Thanks man. TMJ is the jaw joint by the way. TMJ Disorder I should say is the dysfunction of the jaw joint which can lead to pain, tension, sounds, and limited range of motion
I did a lot of projects with basic programming and electronics in school. But actually making a product with it was a lot of searching for ICs I wanted and reading their documentation (and sometimes UA-cam)
Wow, great work! Have you done any certification of the product? I know here in EU you would need to have a CE certification in order to be able to sell it...
Great question! I’m working right now on clearing it for CE and FCC. They’re both self certified in my case, but still obviously have to do the testing. The products been changing so much so couldn’t do it earlier haha. Also will be registering with the FDA soon.
@@noamaiz I've gived up my project because of CE certification. Even if it's a self certification you have to write a technical case with very specific tests that is pretty complicated. The cost for the certification for electronics device are between 3000 and 12000 euros here in the EU and price dépend on your capability to make your own tests and proove that the product is safe. (But i would be reallly interested to know how it's works with the FCC) . But anyway reallly good job ;)
I also want to start a company from my own ideas and products, I’d say I’m pretty decent at cad, but I have no clue what I’d need to do for coding and pcb design, got any pointers?
Yeah man, just start making projects in those other realms. There are so many on UA-cam. So much theory lectures too. In the end it’s always just looking up datasheets and forums.
I Would offer to help with the design of the box and cards etc. but i dont do 3d renderings unless you would provide those and ill make the rest like fonts colors and designs?
Where's the part about how you get your FCC certification? It's electrical so it needs FCC certification. And are you selling to Europe? That requires CE, WEEE and a bunch of other stuff.
All in due time lad. I try my best to follow everything in real time but it’s tough to tell cohesive stories when there are so many unrelated and unfinished things going on in parallel. When I completely figure that out there’ll be a killer video about it
The packaging has a company story? You just x10 the cheapness feel of your product before they've opened the box. The sappy / handmade / personalized feel can only go so far. It goes old really, really, really fast - while unboxing it.
Well the only people buying the first batch are those who have connected with me and the brand. I’ve personally chatted with almost all of them. So this is the case in which cheap packaging isn’t as big of an issue. It’s a lot more important to get customer feedback ASAP rather than wait an extra 4 months for custom rigid boxes.
@@noamaiz hot take: skip the fancy box and invest that money in a hard shell case that people might actually hold on to. I dealt with "Suzhou Beyond Case Co., Ltd." on AB; again, hmu if you want an intro
@@noamaiz never done anything my joint eventually got softer and if i don’t stress my jaw chewing gums it doesn’t get locked then it’s fine, i had trauma on both sides the right side healed completely.

Crazy high correlation with what you'd call bad customers: lots of chargebacks, returns, bizarre and unreplicatable support issues. for price, replicate the board like 3-4x width wise n ur design, do a check like that for the manufacturing cause it might be cheaper
