Killzone is probably the most accurate despiction of a fictional war in a FPS game. It doesn't matter who you think is right, both sides are wrong in some way
The Helghast are a lot worse, though. I'll agree with you that there's nuance to it, and that it's not exactly like WW2, where one side was clearly the bad guys, but it's not 50-50 either. The Helghast are trying to murder a bunch of people, not just take their stolen land back. It'd be like if the Native Americans tried to open death camps for the Europeans.

I haven't played any of the Killzone games and likely never will because only shadowfall is on PS (which is across the country from me rn) and I only have my pc but the helghast are so damn cool and that speech was amazing, wish more sci fi visited these more "dark" futures, I can't get enough of 40k and Dune

The Helghast were treated terribly and given an awful deal in the First Extrasolar War, which the UCN/ISA themselves started. They were in the right to want Vekta back, and they were in the right to have problems with the ISA and UCN. That said, nothing justifies the totalitarian fasicst dictatorship Visari established. He brutally oppressed his people for the twelve years he was in power on Nazi German and North Korean scales, and during both the invasion of Vekta and the defense of Helghan, his forces committed terrible atrocities. The Helghast are solely responsible for this, no one forced them to go down that path. The ISA and UCN certainly didn't do enough to stop them from going down it, but they chose it in the end. Both sides are grey, both sides suck, but I would much rather live on a UCN colony like Vekta than in the Helghan Empire.
when you make your supposedly "bad guys" way cooler and more sympathetic than the good guys, you should make them the heroes not the villains. Even if ruthless, and because of that too, I still like the Helghast more than the ISA.

They did. The whole twist relies on the fact that the I.S.A is evil. The Helghan corporation bought Alpha Centauri system fair and square, it was after the UCA tried to retake the system when the Helghast took up their arms. They lost and were forced to live on an unhabitable world of Helghan. And they lived there pracefully until Scholar Visari told them that they can reclaim their glory by killing the "Vektans"

The memories I have of playing this game and watching my eldest brother playing it are some of the happiest of my entire life. This is coming from someone who is extremely suicidal, so this game really means a lot.
I just read the news and came here immediately. Guerrilla games have just announced that on March 29th, 2018, after more than 6 years of operation, the online servers for Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 will be decommissioned. This is really sad. I am sure many of you out there feel the same way. The good 'ole times we had will never come back, but our memories of this beautiful franchise will live on forever! The memories I have of playing this game and watching my eldest brother playing it are some of the happiest of my entire life. This is coming from someone who is extremely suicidal, so this game really means a lot.

Why this trilogy has not become a movie still baffles me to this very day and I'm sure ALL of you will agree to that.
I just read the news and came here immediately. Guerrilla games have just announced that on March 29th, 2018, after more than 6 years of operation, the online servers for Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 will be decommissioned.
This is really sad. I am sure many of you out there feel the same way. The good 'ole times we had will never come back, but our memories of this beautiful franchise will live on forever!
