- Despite the Prime Minister's claims to the contrary the UK economy is in trouble.
At the Covid enquiry last week it became clear that No 10 and the government were in chaos during the #borisjohnson administration. There was little discipline or order especially during the #pandemic Also throughout this time money was spent with very little apparent control benefitting many including Tory donors who benefitted from huge contracts. £29.3 billion was spent on Test & Trace. £30 billion was lost by #liztruss and Kwazi Kwarteng with their disastrous budget and £21 billion was lost to fraud under #rishisunak
It is clear that taxpayers' money is being wasted with few proper controls whilst friends of Tories or donors often seem to be the beneficiaries.
Many MP's have second jobs whilst others are being investigated for alleged financial offences.
#hmrc rent offices in Newcastle from a company whose beneficial owners are based in a tax haven thereby helping them to evade UK tax. Money laundering is known to be widespread throughout the UK whilst HMRC ask not to be told about it.
"Test and Trace" is one of the biggest financial scandals of our time. Harding, Johnson, Hancock and Co should be in jail for their failures and incompetence ! 😂😂
Thank you Michael for calling out the incompetence, corruption and waste from the most hopeless government in my lifetime. Let’s hope that people remember these details when a election finally arrives.
I have watched the decline of the British economy over 40 years with increasing despair, but since 2010 the process of expropriation and exploitation of public assets for "special interests" who support the Tory party has driven the country into a race to the bottom where it now resembles a third world country approaching the point of collapse with the wealthy rushing to move or keep their money offshore.
It's never going to change because there is no will to do so ,the leader of the so called opposition is useless ,and anyone with capabilities to change things better for working people will be blocked ,Starmer has made sure of that that's why I keep saying voting is a charade , they're pretending every five years you have the ability to change things, when in truth nothing ever changes

I'm sick to my stomach the waste this government has caused. But I doubt if they'll be called to account, they deserve prison as it amounts to theft.

Right, like the current fraudster Trump who is looking like he will finally face just this kind of justice. That means more to a con man than any other bunch of fabricated lies about election numbers. Without Trump's facade of fake or overvalued businesses, usually associated with real estate fraud, he may as well be running around naked.

That is often the case, usually when senior management are clueless about the details. It gets worse when the big consultant firms bring in fresh graduates armed with their MBAs and such but with no subject matter experience. Predictable results. Add govermental corruption...
I have experienced this in large, multinational firms and pushed back. Spent many years in the penalty box as a result.
As I have been saying for over a decade we have returned to the age of King John and the Robber Barons and where is Robin Hood?

Highest taxes in Europe yet we cant afford to invest in anything substantial- workforce, public services etc. I think the public need a proper breakdown on where the money goes.

Goes back further than Johnson - goes back to Cameron, and his Chancellor Osborne who sold the Royal Mail to his Best Man.
Further back in Tory history, there's Marples, transport minister at the time of the Beeching axe, who made several fortunes building the roads that replaced the railways. Always Tories.
The greater shock is the absence of public outrage. No, the solution isn't to vote them out many years after the crimes. A healthy democracy would express so much outrage and demand that those responsible be punished by the criminal courts. Or why won't they do it over and over again?

2. The EU has ruled that ALL Offshore Banking/Investment is illegal. That includes all British Offshore Havens!

Every country had similar corruption problems but this is outrageous. The people resposible should be held accountable. Seems they learnt a lot from their Russian oligarch rolemodels as to how to steal tax payers’ money and get away with it. You really should not let them get away with it.
Health services are too expensive, we hear ministers say. Bombs are expensive too but no politicians are heard to wince about that. Gotta love the system.
Never hear them say how the NHS provides healthy workers. Enables the disabled to live more meaningful lives. No one noticed the huge numbers on the waiting list will contain people who need minor ops to get them back to work but we do hear the Tories calling people signed off sick as slackers.
Conservatives always conserve the money and the power for themselves and their class. Everyone should know this, it's not like they haven't been around long enough. Well actually, they've been around far too long.

It is all so depressing, when you lay it all out........................... Sadly a lot of people who remain comfortably-off, think they can still vote tory and they'll manage. They don't realise that there are ever-shrinking tax revenues and the whole UK infrastructure will collapse, and that decline will accellerate. There is a point where recovery is impossible, and with Brexit - we may already have passed that point.
The idea that the Tories run the economy better and are fiscally prudent needs to be poured down the sink like dirty washing up water. What we have witnessed since 2010 and certainly 2016 is a state sponsored trolley dash from John O' Groats to Land's End and from Great Yarmouth to Fishguard.
The tax burden is going to rise by £3,500 per household next year because of their corruption and incompetence.

Dido Harding was given a budget of:
£37,000 million English pounds (or Thirty-seven thousand million pounds)
£29.3 billion English Pounds (Twenty-nine point three Billion English pounds)
£437 English Pounds (or Four hundred and thirty-seven English Pounds) for every man, woman, and child inside the United Kingdom.
She looks as if butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. I just had to write it all out to get my head around the numbers. Why has no one gone to prison over this scandal?
She has a very impressive career of failing upwards……a prime example of the Peter principle in action…….I deal with these plummy voiced halfwits on a regular basis and most of them couldn’t run a bath let alone a business
You will need to adjust your figures. Scotland had its own test and trace system organised by NHS Scotland at a cost, I believe, of about £10 million.

Since the Cameron Government, which brought austerity and paved the way for Brexit, it’s been a revolving door of incompetence, corruption, chaos and lies from successive Tory leaders (Theresa May was not corrupt, but was clearly unfit to be PM). Over thirteen years of Tory rule, the U.K. has ran up massive debt, people have become much poorer, even people who work are reliant on foodbanks, homelessness has increased, the NHS, education system and local services are in tatters. All while the rich get much, much richer. We need change, not of Government, but of the system. The first past the post means of electing a Government does not work. Proportional representation is the only way to get fair, balanced and competent Governance, otherwise we will continue to have a system which allows only the few to prosper.
Thanks to The Liberal Democrats for giving Cameron the keys to No. 10.

I was listening to nick abbot on LBC last night and people are convinced the tories will get back in, one guy said he had always voted tory but didn't want to vote Labour, this was a working class person, what are people thinking.

I hope all of the 1,000 covid consultants will be called to give evidence of what exactly they did during the pandemic. Otherwise it's hard not to suppose that the purpose of their employment was to aid the obfuscation of wrongdoing and fraud.

Michael, thanks for keeping us informed of the Tory corruption and fiscal incontinence! I am going to arrange a meeting with my millionaire Tory MP Fiona Bruce who keeps assuring me that there is no corruption as she trousers £5k a month from her second job and claims £150k plus a year in expenses alone, in addition to her very generous salary!
At one point, they were so mean, that after budgeting over 100 billion for HS2, they were then going to close the ticket offices! 🤔

It's basically all down to the UK class system. The cream at the top have networked since private/boarding school / oxford/cambridge etc and look after each other.......polititians, ceo's, heads of quangos, charities, utilities etc. Been going on for decades but it's harder to hide with social media which is why "they" are doing their best to strangle those pointing the spotlight on it.
On top of all that we are now spending £100 billion a year just to service the interest on the national debt. I've been working in local government since 2010. At that point, we were told if we all endured a bit of pain for a few years, the finances would be sorted and it would all be worth it. I, and many around me, have been driven to exhaustion by ever increasing workloads, bureaucracy, recruitment problems and the daily drip drip of people moaning at how slow the service is. None of it feels worthwhile. I've gone through all that pain for bugger all. And, now I'm burnt out at 50, along comes Lord Gormless saying we need to raise the pension age to 75 because we can't afford pensions anymore. What the heck is going on?
People who vote for a politician they'd like to have a beer (or cup of coffee) with, should perhaps consider voting for a politician, they'd entrust with their baby?

Deafening silence from Labour about Tory fraud and waste.
At Prime Minister’s Questions not so long ago, Kier Starmer raised the matter of £34 million pounds being spent by Gillian Keegan’s Education Department. There has still been no explanation.

Now one can see why brexit was so important to the Tories. The new E U tax ligislation would have thrown a spanner into the Tory's fictive contract fiddle. The legislation would have given the UK's inland revenue, a new set of tools. Tools that would have enabled them to see and trace, I'll be got no incomes. My wife and I have lost jobs on account of companies we worked for brought in these big consultancy firms in order to increase profits. The only changes these so called consultants recommend was to reduce the workforce. This in what were profitable companies. My ex company went bust 3 years after because customers lost support due to a lack of engineers and my wife's ex company had to downsize even further for similar reasons.
ps, As All tory voters Goddess, Thatcher repeatedly told them, "Eventually you run out of other people's money to spend."
Of course, that only applies to spending on education, clean water, public transport, housing and medicine for working class people.

There should be a citizens' assembly in every democracy. A member of the Citizens' Assembly should be present at every meeting that does not directly concern the security of the country. This should change every six months. That way, 99% of political corruption can be avoided.

The Labour run Birmingham council gets kicked out?
There are several councils bankrupt many of them Tory run but the central government has cut funding to councils by 45% over 13 years , coupled with BHS highest waiting lists ever triple , and almost triple national debt , credit rating down from 100% to 85% p, homelessness up 75% in 14 years but it’s all the fault of people in tents , unions actually doing what there 10000s members democratically want them to do and unpatriotic not wearing a poppy in bed ,

Now Leaky sue is back at it trying to restrict use of homeless using tents and saying that charities will be sued if they’re seen giving tents out to those who are in dire need of shelter. If she wants tents off the streets then stop focusing on small boats and start helping those out on the streets PROPERLY!! Help those on the streets get off the streets by providing proper homes, provide the tools that the homeless need to get back on their feet, give councils/ charities the tools/the money they need to help support the less unfortunate.
The joke of it is that there doesn’t need to be charities, foodbanks, babybanks or warmbanks.
The Government could easily end homelessness and all those banks right now but they choose not too instead punish homeless people now possibly charities. No one should be made to be poor, homeless and no one should be choosing between heating or eating but we live in a society where it’s become normal that such atrocities is accepted and it shouldn’t be. We become a society where we look out for ourselves and not others in need of help & support. Our government feels no shame in letting all of us down just keep gaslighting us telling us it’s our fault that we are in a mess when it’s always been down to them & their political choices for the past 13years.
Government forgets that it’s not their money it’s tax payers money and they need to be advocating on our behalf on where each proportion of the money goes to help those in need, help crumbling schools/hospitals, crumbling public services etc but no they decide to spend tax payers money on themselves. We are the 5th richest country in the world and yet our government decides to punish all walks of life while they steal from us in broad daylight. Enough is enough these gaslighting money sucking leeches need to be shown the door or better yet prison bars that’s what they deserve.

@@francesbrown5116 they’re going bankrupt because the government is starving then of the money they need and we also got some wreckless councillors involved who do throw tax payer money down the toilet on projects that their towns/cities/ villages don’t need. I won’t lie my council threw away millions on fancy stone paving in around town, threw millions away on replacing a bridge that didn’t need replacing then Cleethorpes council thought it be a great idea to build a Swarovski palm tree on Cleethorpes front but soon got backlash didn’t build it.
So there are careless councillors out there who don’t care throw money away on anything they like spite the constituents saying no we don’t need it.
But our focus needs to be mainly on the government because it’s them who have been starving our councils for 13years of relentless cuts hence them going bust under pressure. Careless councillors and government need to be investigated. It’s not rocket science.

No problem for the Tories to spend other people's money in the way they see fit. After all there's no accountability and with corruption treated as the norm, it's surprising the sums are not bigger. In actual fact, one can be sure the sums are far bigger but nobody will ever know the truth. As for consultants, these people are leaches and facilitate poor governance and possibly corruption too.

Events post-2016 have certainly exposed exactly how the Establishment likes things to operate in this country (ask Baroness Dido). Whether the masses will carry on not wanting to believe it -it's less psychologically upsetting to deny it - is yet to be seen. And, as part of that, the Covid *public* enquiry might just be a fancy way of laundering unpalatable truths into acceptance and forgiveness.
And Britain left the EU because of all the corruption and money wasting in Brussels. Remaining would have risked tainting the snow-white pure UK with that nasty European corruption. Or could it be the good EU citizens see it the other way round & are glad the UK left?

@stephanguitar9778 I suspect May knew more than she wanted to publicly declare. My own hypothesis here is they were discussing anti Corbyn policy, which was a common interest.
Why shouldn’t the tories squander taxpayer funds? The default state of a tory is ‘tax avoider’, with many ‘tax evaders’ amongst their number, so it’s not as if it’s _their_ money. It’s all OPM.

I try to look after every pound that I earn and spend it well. It enrages me to see such profligacy in our government and breaks my heart to think of the usefull things that could have been done for the good of the people.
I feel sick, especially when the health service and education are short of money, with elements of private provision of supply teachers etc. Worse, free meals for children in need being denied free meals. Consultants charging the earth for their “services “. How do cabinet members sleep at night. Thank you for your information Michael .
