You missed so much good stuff, near north Byron there is the industrial estate which has breweries, cool shops and other commercial developements. Highly recommend habitat Byron bay and then having a soak at Comma bath house. Tones cafe or good day cafe are always great!
They usually have entertainment in the streets . Every year around about April , they do the Bluesfest . Heaps of good musicians . The backpacker lodges have great entertainment for the backpackers . You see more in the warmer months ,
We had a great time, but yeah.. not much going on! You’re right, it would be better to visit in the warmer months, peak time! Have you visited?? - James
@@AndrewBellsWorld so based on your thinking, and counting the external territories as being part of Australia, the centre of Australia would be in the Indian ocean, off the coast of Western Australia
Actually little debateable, Flat Rock (rock shelf) at Sharpes and Angel Beach point (Ballina) at low tide, is a contender in in some circles. Probably too close to call.
I'm glad you enjoyed Byron, I just have never been able to enjoy it. Too many yuppies and hippy types for my liking. And since there are SO MANY other nice places with beaches in Aust., why go there when you can have a nicer experience elsewhere? Still, I'm glad you got to experience it and are on your way to nicer climes - eg. Tweed and Burleigh! Enjoy!
We did enjoy it, I think for us, just because we’ve always read and heard about the “very famous” Byron Bay, we had to visit.. just to experience it ourselves! We’re so so excited for what is to come! Burleigh as in Burleigh Heads? 😃 - James
@@JamesandJosieTravel Burleigh Heads is much nicer than the Gold Coast (THE crime capital of Australia). I'd give the whole Gold Coast a miss, but again, you've probably heard so much about it you don't want to miss it. But it is far overrated and again expensive. I'd head left at Tweed and do the Terranora lakes area including enjoying the hinterland behind it; Mt. Tambourine etc. Even the drive through the hinterland like Lake Moogerah and the like are beautiful areas to visit. If you want to go up that way - the GC - go on up to South Port it is nice, and quieter. Plenty of shops and restaurants up that way and you'll miss the dreadful traffic of the GC. Let me know how you go...
Haha you know us now.. we love to make our own minds up! I feel like this part of the east coast is full with “famous” places but a lot of *potential* disappointment! (We hope not). Thank you for the recommendations!! 😊
Sorry! I agree, we probably should’ve shown more. It was just similar to other beachside towns, and there were a lot of other cool things to see (like the lighthouse) 😁 - James
@@JamesandJosieTravel it's a stunning location geographically, with so many interesting creative people around.. I think people are just angry that they've been thoroughly priced out of the area.
@@JamesandJosieTravel Lennox, part of Ballina Shire, not far from Byron, lush green hinterland, good views from the lookout over the seven mile beach, Ballina bigger than Byron. Kingscliff in the Tweed Shire south of the Goldie is another I would like to live there beach suburb.
I'm sorry we're just getting to this! We'll definitely look into this and get back round to it! We do plan to try and visit a few places we've missed, so thank you for this! - James

Damn, okay! We saw a few bits, like the brewery etc but we’re on a budget and always think of ways to avoid spending the money hahaha 😄 - James

Where the lighthouse sits is the most easterly point
Thank you for confirming! I knew I’d seen it somewhere 😄 - James
Yes, it's at the eastern most point of mainland Australia, but if you include all territories the eastern most point is Norfolk Island.

the most overrated place in Australia
Used to be so nice until big money took over
Do you think so?? I guess it’s changed quite a bit over the years! - Josie
@@JamesandJosieTravel it's a stunning location geographically, with so many interesting creative people around.. I think people are just angry that they've been thoroughly priced out of the area.
Definitely not the town it used to be. All changed in the 90's when the city sabs with money decided it was trendy.
Byron lost it's charm in the early 1990's. Not a nice place anymore, too much greed.
Damn. Wish we could time travel…. - James
@@JamesandJosieTravel Lennox Head 20 minutes to the south probably more interesting now.
