Replacing the tail light on my sportster

- A few months ago I got rear ended and broke my tail light. since then I have been back and forth with Harley and the Insurance company about getting it fixed. They finally decided to sell me the parts and just fix it myself. I kind of wish I had stuck to my guns and made them do it because it ended up being such a headache but then I wouldn't have anything to make a video about.

Bro explained nothing 😂
Woulda been nice if you actually showed us how to replace the lights.
I don’t know why insurance is giving you a hassle. If you were rear ended and your struts may be bent. That’s a big problem.
What insurance do you have? Did they screw you?
Hit and run?
My real question is how to get those tsil light stubs out.
Ahhhhh thank you
Chop that thing in half
Thank God it's not your frame
That is how the vets did it, a little ingenuity goes a long way.😂
I’ll sell you both my strut covers. 100 for the pair.
What socket did you use to hold the light In place before you put it back in the fender?
Same shit happed to mine. Same side , sux man
is the wiring a simple disconnect and plug in? my rear turn sign is broken too and i have no crimping or soldering skills lol.
No, the plug won't fit through the hole in the frame so at a minimum you'll have to de-pin and remove it. Besides, the new light assembly doesn't come with a plug installed so you'll have to remove the old plug to put it on the new light anyway. I found it easier to just cut it and splice the new one back in. I got some butt connectors on Amazon that have heat shrink and solder included so all you have to do is strip the wire, put it in the connector and heat it up. No crimping or soldering necessary. I use a heat gun but a lighter works pretty well too.
Gonna do this same task tomorrow. I was wondering the same thing. Could I just splice the wiring together without disconnecting the plug but you’ve answered. Great job. Wish me luck!
Big thanks man
I've got a similar situation, only on the left side. Having similar headaches, only my bike has saddlebags, and a plate relocation kit.
@@lordgottoms7339 😅
It's not bent. Mine is the exact same way.
Do you have the part numbers by chance?
what did you use to get the inside bolts on the fender? the two most forward to the seat have a nut on the inside i am having a hell of a time reaching. Just ordered some offset wrenches
Same. Let me know.
Yea it definitely looks slightly bent in
