I picked up one of those, I imm we duately swapped out the tuners and pt in Gotoh magnum lockers. I replaced the bridge with a tooled with a silver colored brass saddle six saddle style , the electronics were replaced with an Emerson kit with a four way switch. The pickups were swapped out for a set of Fender tele drive pickups. It was noisy as hell so I installed copper shielding throughout. Now it’s stable, sounds good and looks amazing.
Oh also a Fender string tree and a new bone nut. If you’ve never used a four way switch check those out.
I'm so happy to find a review of this guitar by one of my favorite bass commentators on UA-cam. My basses are jealous of the time I've been spending with this guitar lately 😂 I also love that neck!

Very thorough review, covers the playability and shows off the nice body. Another potential mod might be a roasted maple neck, go nicely with that natural body.

Great review! I love Jazzmasters, I own two, and plan on getting one of these Squier Offset Tele's. I wish they still had the Natural you have, not sure how much of a difference the Okume body to the Poplar body they have now. Guess I'll find out. Enjoyed your playing too!

I'm extremely disappointed that the paranormal jazz doesn't have dual precision vintage single coils. That's seems to be the whole point of the guitar line is to swap around the pickups! They got lazy with the bass me thinks.

I also found the tunners could not support 11s they ceased all up. Really wish on these middle of the road priced squiers the tunners were a bit better.
Yeah, definitely necessary to upgrade the tuners and maybe even the bridge.
I was comparing some Squires to other not as commonly known brands, and it does seem like you can get way more value for the buck with some other brands out there these days - especially like you said if this is a kind of "unique or project guitar."
Yeah, you’re right. I know of a couple brands who make a better guitar for a lower price.

@@MMcG25 the Earl Slick guitars are VERY nicely built. Also SX guitars are on par with the Classic Vibe Squier’s and cost way less.

Those Fender locking tuners will not fit "any" Fender product, and you will have to get your drill out if you want to replace these well-known and perfectly acceptable vintage-style Squier tuners that are used on many well-reviewed guitars, including the CV 50s Tele. Sorry that you had tuning issues. Maybe you should stop endorsing snake oil for nuts and fix whatever issues your offset Tele has that cause it to go out-of-tune.

You’re wrong Sean. These are not the same tuners as seen on other Squiers. I’ve owned multiple Classic Vibes with the vintage style tuners which are fantastic but I just got a Cyclone and the stock tuners are clearly some cheap knock off. Love everything about my Cyclone but the tuners suck. Definitely want to replace them with some decent Klusons.
