That's exactly what I was thinking.
Because the writers think the audience is too stupid to remember they do have genuine things they can connect with.
The spa, them being older sisters, their love for their pets etc.
Apparently they can only try when applejack is involved.
Again, this episode was not only about how people with different interests can be friends but how a great relationship between such friends can become a bad one (specifically after being forced to embrace each others activities).
It is different from 'Look before you sleep' or 'Stranger than fan fiction' or 'Uncommon bond' because all these episodes corelate to different life situations (that's kind of the bread and butter of MLP and how it is able to put out more episodes - it does not emphasize generalities like be kind or be honest or respect each other or whatever but rather it looks into the specific life situations and shows how to manage them properly [well most of the time...]).

Actually, many gemstones would be quite fragile. Hardness is a resistance to having the surface damaged and scratched, but resistance to being outright broken or shattered falls under toughness instead. Even Diamond, one of the hardest substances known to man, is actually quite brittle due to its crystalline structure and can be shattered easily with an average hammer. They are hard, but not especially tough. Glass is harder than a pillow, but the pillow isn't the one that would be smashed by a heavy impact. Perhaps those gems Rarity had were some of the less durable ones and needed to be handled with care.

That is exactly me and my friend I love glitter and she hates it, I like make up she doesn't, she likes bts and I don't. But we both love my little pony,and it helps us bond.
When rarity said that the action parts in daring do were over the top I was like rainbow dash and was like"...BUT YOU MEET HER AND SAW HER DO THOSE THINGS!?"
i still think the best was Twilight making air quotes with her hooves. None of the comentators seemed to pickup on it, or worth commenting on.

Just to keep you updated: Yes, all episodes have aired in other countries, and while the official US release is on episode 19 right now, every episode has aired in english (in Australia), except for the finale, which will change this weekend.

Isn't it a friendship school? Why do the students expect everyone to be perfect and friendly ALL the time? Friends have disagreements and arguments so why was twilight making excuses for why rarity and dash were arguing when she could've just said that friends can't get along ALL the time?
Under usual conditions, Twilight probably could've just said that. But because of what triggered Rarity and Rainbow to start arguing in the first place, and Gallus's question on why Rarity and Rainbow were friends despite not liking the same things, Twilight couldn't do it so easily.
She was trying to teach the students that friends can be friends without having to share interests, but by Rainbow and Rarity arguing BECAUSE they didn't have anything they both liked doing, it was ruining the very lesson Twilight was trying to teach them, threatening to prove Gallus's point, and she knew it.
So Twi had no choice but to try her best and make it seem like Rarity and Rainbow wasn't really arguing, because if she didn't, she'll risk looking like a hypocrite to her students

Has it really? Well don't worry, I haven't been able to see much from it aside from thumbnails of 1-minute long videos, and that's not from a lack of trying. It's still relatively under the radar.

If people don't have much in common, they can still be friends. You don't even need to do huge things like saving the other person's life on order to get along. If you support each other unconditionally, then that's a true friendship. Listen to them, try to understand them. Similar hobbies are a bonus, not a necessity

Cabellleron can be pronounced as either Rarity's version or how it sounds. The name is a foreign name meaning that it should have an accent tailed along. So both of them are actually correct.... of course whozziwhatsit is not the correct pronunciation.

Being friends isn’t just about what you have in common. In fact, sometimes being opposites is what makes you the best of friends. I love Rarity so much because of this. She truly is a diamond in the rough.
Or encouraging each other - shaping into a better version of ourselves.
It's true that you don't need to have much in common to be friends, but it's one of those things that's easy to SAY, but it can be a whole different story to actually PROVE it, as Twilight, Rarity, Rainbow Dash learned in this episode.
Though, if they could've gotten Sunburst to visit, Twilight could've used his and Starlight's friendship to show it, since they themselves went through it last season
I love the fact that Gillian M Berrow reused her "drop of a fabulous hat" line from her MLP book Rarity and the Curious Case of Charity.
So like you I was pretty worried when I read the synopsis of this episode, until I really started to think about if this is really out of charachter for either of them and yeah they really did not intereact one on one much at all until this episode. And even in the episodes where they did they got on each others nerves alot of the time. Rarity was showing up Rainbow in Sonic Rainboom and Rainbow Dash was constantly getting on Rarity's case during Rarity Investigates until the end. So yeah this episode absolutely needed to happen so they could address that and I thought they did a pretty good job with it.
Thsi entire episode all I could hear was, YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE THE SAME FOR FRIENDSHIP TO BE TRUE! This is basically a discount version of the season 5 finale.
"if i burn my wing feathers i'll be out of the wonderbolts for weeks!" i love that line because it reinforces a headcanon i've had since season 2; pegasi have feathers everywhere, or at least on their chests as well as their wings. (to sum up the origin, in 'dragon quest', spike says "you won't be laughing when you get hot tea all over YOUR scales- er, feathers!" in response to rainbow making fun of his apron. implying that she has feathers in an area that would be covered if she was wearing an apron. case closed)

For Dr. Cabaleron, his name is in fact pronounced with the hard L, but its based on the word Caballero, which is a Mexican or Spanish gentleman, and is also a southwestern slang term for a cowboy.
Makes me remember the Three Caballeros cartoon.
In my research, gems grow by micro-organisms that feed off of minerals and natural magic, creating unique gemstones with lattice crystaline structures. However, the gemstones are not completely solid, meaning that some can break when dropped, though that often depends on the force used and each stones hardness according to the Mohl hardness factor. Following that gems could be classified as living in a way, the micro organisms can sometimes develop active magic, resulting in different magical properties. (Hopefully I used words correctly.)

Technically, Rainbow Dash doesn't have siblings (as far as I know, no Scootaloo is technically not related to Rainbow Dash so she doesn't count, since how she reacted to Rainbow's parents). For love of spa, yeah but does the students know that? Sure people can be passion of their jobs but that doesn't mean they can get along, that would be like saying you and friend can be passion in the fandom if you two are in different fanbases, for love of pets, yeah I can kinda but remember, they have somewhat different personalities, so I can kinda see that being a reason to be friends, and if you bring in save Equetria, you can be a hero as well as another character but that doesn't mean you get all buddy like at first, may I need to tell you about Batman and Superman? So in the end, yes they do have a few in common but they also have different interests you should considered as well.
The similarities of both Rarity and Rainbow Dash:
Both stubborn
Both think highly of themselves
Both will do anything for their friends (loyal and generous)
Both are very open about their opinions
Friends that are very different from each other can open up opportunities to try new things, as long as their comfort zone doesn't get in the way.
They both like going to the spa.. I'm surprised that that didn't come up.

Here we go, one of the episodes considered a low point of this season. To be clear, it is the episode's premise that is overly familiar and unoriginal, not the season. Sure, Season 8 has some of the worst low-points, but every season isn't perfect either. It should not be considered a terrible season through and through just for this and a couple other moments. I'm looking at you, Discord.
There has certainly been some awful and not so pleasant moments, but I'd say it's still been an overall good season (haven't watched the finale tho).

Season 2 is still the worst one in my opinion alot of the episodes I don't like come from it and it did some pretty big damage to Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Spike. 6 and 8 are both much better than 2 in my eyes.
