It's one of Gaga's most meaningful videos. She self-directed it after her whole team let her down then dropped her during album. She paid for that music video herself. At first you see her as a fallen angel with the corporate that made her a money making machine. She gets herself up and rise from her ashes (she uses what them made of her and her pain to find inspiration to rise again). Then she references tons of greek mythology tales to represent rebirth, criticizes the music industry with the cameo of the housewifes from Beverly Hills representing how mainstream artists have looks but no passion for music, then uses her icons (Jesus, MJ, Ghandi) to create a perfect man to repopulate earth with a saner race 😂. I'm overlooking a lot of references here btw
@@matthewstayancho3454 Was it well received by the fans ? Yes. But it was completely disregarded on the mainstream scene. At the time, she had been dragged through the mud so badly that there was absolutely nothing she could have done to make this a success. No one would invest in the music video so she paid it all by herself. The intention behind that video was to make it up to fans as a « sorry gift » for all the mess that happened to her during that time. At the start of the video, you see that she lost herself with the exuberance and success of her early career. The life was sucked out of her by her manager and she forgot what used to drive her : music. She thought she was being exploited by her managers in order to have a successful career but later realized they were making her do all these things for profit until she would break. They left her « for dead » once she had to cancel the rest of her tour from a broken hip. They made her continue her tour knowing she had a hip condition until her body collapsed. She had to be in a wheelchair for long after that. Then she was depressed and ARTPOP is about how music keeps her going. At that point her career was over but hopefully she found happiness again through her jazz album with Tony Bennett that put her back on track. The part 2 of this album titled « Love for sale » releases next Friday by the way!
Great comment this was pretty much the gist of an interpretation I’ve seen (there’s a couple think pieces been done for the video). Also it ended up being the closer of the era MV wise essentially in March 2014 (before the ARTRave tour), after not dropping a music video since Applause (DWUW’s never came out although scenes from it leaked a couple months later). Filmed at Hearst Castle, we got this little medley with cameo by Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for Venus, and the backing storyline about her little army of G.U.Y.s getting back at the corporate offices who wronged her in the beginning of the video. Lyrics wise it could also be about switching up the dynamics in a relationship and you can still be assertive kinda thing in other ‘positions’. NEIN ZEDD is a nod to ZEDD the dj/producer, whom she worked with on this track.
I’d like to see some of this live performance reactions: - Paparazzi at the 2009 VMAs - The Chromatica Medley at the 2020 VMAs - Super Bowl - Born This Way at the 2011 Grammys - Alejandro in American Idol
I'm a gaga fan and I think this album is a true masterpiece with lots of artistic secrets and ofcourse it's my favorite album and I love it more than the others
As for live stuff to do Super Bowl 2017 you need to finish THE FAME album, her debut single JUST DANCE in particular. There’s not much left to react as far as her main discography goes apart from the few songs from ASIB not in the movie, stand-alone single THE CURE, and her albums with Tony Bennett; CHEEK TO CHEEK and new one LOVE FOR SALE, but you gotta finish THE FAME, (there’s also video for LOVEGAME & BEAUTIFUL DIRTY RICH), then you’ll be able to watch her Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden film (oh and the stripped back version of Born This Way is in that too iirc). ;)
I really wish you would react to the ITunes Festival by Lady Gaga because that was the concert when she revealed ARTPOP demos by live performances and this concert is really iconic but disappeared from UA-cam and I wish to find this concert ever again! At the time I watched it in livestream, I remember Adele was watching the concert too and said that her favourite song was the demo version of MANiCURE
Dawn of Chromatica - The Chromatica remix album is out. Looking forward for your reaction to that. Gaga Daily made an official visual for the album. You can check it on their channel and also on gaga's.
I can’t wait for you to get to her love performances. You need to react to her 2009 VMA performance - everyone will tell you that launched her early career into new heights - as well as her A Sound of Music Medley, David Bowie Tribute, her Thanksgiving holiday special, and her rendition of Bang Bang. There are so many more incredible performances I could list. I feel like it could also be interesting if you reacted to some of her most memorable interviews, the way she describes her music is truly fascinating.
I love listening to demos of songs to hear how they evolve during their development. It would be really cool if you started reacting to demos for ARTPOP that are available on UA-cam, some of which have huge structure, melodic, and lyric changes :) these are some that have notable changes: “Burqa” is a demo of Aura that has a huge change for the last minute/minute & a half compared to the album version, as well as small lyric changes (besides the name change obviously) There is also another demo of Aura that Gaga leaked online herself because her record label wouldn’t allow it to be the lead single. It is entirely the same as the album version except for the second verse, where instead of talking, she’s yelling. Fans tend to overhype this one but if you want a big change, the Burqa demo is the one MANiCURE has 2 demos. The first is an early concept that’s not very detailed but it still has the same drum and guitar foundation of the album version. However, it does have a different bridge with different lyrics and a bit of a dubstep break down (but again it’s an early version so don’t expect to hear 2012 Skrillex dubstep on it) The second demo is superb. Relatively the same as the album version but it’s a different vocal take where she’s singing in a higher, cheerier tone compared to the album version where she almost sounds like she’s mad. 10/10 would recommend the second one Mary Jane Holland is my favorite because the demos really show the process of making this song. There’s 3 and they all showcase the changes of the pre choruses (and then some) 10/10 would recommend all three MJH demos. You don’t even have to film it just listen to them and experience the euphoric musical evolution :)
the performances you have to watch to better understand the cultural statement about fame gaga wanted to make when she rose to stardom: 2010 Grammy Awards - Poker face + Speechless 2009 MTV VMAS - Paparazzi
You have to watch lady Gaga itunes festival!the entire show is phenomenal, it's hard to find. And you should definitely check out her 2013 vma performance of applause. Also her performance of swine at the dxsw Doritos show in Texas.... Some of her best live performances were during the ARTPOP ERA

I always liked this without knowing much about the artist, you seem to be knowledgeable was it well received?
