This man has class ,and what he did helping the family keep their home ,I got nothing but respect for you sir .when I grow up I want to be just like you .
Claire Crowhurst and her young family were to emerge as the real heroes following Donald Crowhurst's 'disastrous adventure', but I'm sure she would not agree.
Robin Knox-Johnson, what a legend! He is so resilient and driven and strong in every way, and at the same time so kind. When he won the Golden Globe circumnavigation he gave his winnings to Clare Crowhurst to help with raising her children. This man is my hero. Thank you Robin for being such an inspiring tough strong man but also a gentleman! From Australia 🇦🇺
The extraordinary thing about both Moitessier and Knox Johnson was that just how at home they were at sea. Almost as if they were more dolphin than man.
As soon as he said that I paused the screen and wrote that quote down! I am going to live by that, and pass it onto as many people as I can. Thank you Robin Knox-Johnson.
Three days since the start of the commemorative anniversary. Fifty years later, nineteen sailors and the same equipment Sir Robin used to complete his voyage. Certainly is a hero!
This man has got more balls than the current and army and navy have combined. They don't make men that tough anymore..... Only pathetic men are scared to be alone for long periods. You are a pioneer sir Johnston...keep sailing
Beautiful. Just beautiful. Thank You, friend, for putting this here to share with us. Love when He said "my God, they've got to my family too" :))) p.s. i've ALWAYS been a Tennent's Extra man!! :))
Alain Pascal Routhier Moitessier could have won, but he chose to sail to Tahiti and become an adulterer. An amazing sailor and a true Frenchman. Knox-Johnston sailed into the history books.

Knox-Johnston is truly a British Legend ✊️ I can't sail to save My Life but Listening to Sir Robin Knox-Johnston I'm there with Him 🤗🤗🤗🤗
a true British gentleman, as tough as they come.. a very rare breed of human, in this day and age
He donated his prize money to the woman and her family who lost their husband in the race. That's why I like Knox-Johnston.
Donald Crowhurst's wife I believe.
Thanks for posting that
@@Rufinoman yes she was.

The man is my hero. That is what 'tough' and self reliant meant back in the day. Don't make them like that anymore.
The extraordinary thing about both Moitessier and Knox Johnson was that just how at home they were at sea. Almost as if they were more dolphin than man.
The more I read about this particular seaman & gentleman, the more I admire him, he's right up there with Slocum & Willis in my humble opinion!
"I have no right to let the me down, who's gotten me this far." -Friggin' *brilliant*.

Class is like a language. Somewhat like one's mother tongue. All the rest you learn over a lifetime. This is a man fluent in class.

One of our sailing Legends
7:30 "Gosh, the French have got at my family as well."
HA! What a card.
Such a great documentary. Would love to see more of the unaired footage.

What an honor to be introduced to RKJ by my mate Bruce Maxwell at Hawaii Yacht Club...in the bar of course!
Massive respect

Natures gentleman with a heart of gold.
what a decent man he was giving the prize money to Crowhurst's widow and children.
His book 'A World of My Own' is my favourite.
No one come close to his charisma and true morale
A really lovely boat.
What a legend!
The kind of British hero that kids could look up to, who have they got now? Pop stars and footballers ?
I'm speechless.
What a hero.
Quel incroyable marin !
He never judged crowhurst
A great man.
This guy is super cool!!
'It would be much nicer if an Englishman did it first' hero ;)
"My God, the French have gotten to my family as well"
😂😂
Just found out about this guy he’s fuckin awesome
Veteran UK , big difference between the sailing boat and a prison cell 24/7
"Going to sea is like going to prison...with a chance of drowning besides"...SJ
Who made his sails?
yep, real world is out there in the wind and waves, that is why Moitessier is the el winner of that race and Johnson is merely the recipient.
I take my hat off to both of them - incredible sailors from a much more difficult era of long distance sailing.
Alain Pascal Routhier Moitessier could have won, but he chose to sail to Tahiti and become an adulterer. An amazing sailor and a true Frenchman. Knox-Johnston sailed into the history books.
They both "sailed into the history books".
