The reason godzilla sleeps in the colosseum is because in godzilla king of the monsters (Godzilla 2019) godzilla got hit by the oxygen destroyer, he retreated to his home to rest but he doesn't have enough time because Ghidorah would destroy life on the surface before godzilla can get back on his feet, so humans decided to nuke godzilla for him to restore his energy, destroying his home in the process, fast forward to godzilla x kong: the new empire (godzilla 2024) after he fought scylla in rome, the colosseum's structure reminded him of his old home and decided to make it a new resting place
