    When I was selling my Nomad to get Manta, I already knew I am going to miss this cool mobility factor. And I DO miss it. On the other hand Manta and its folio feel so light, that I am always carrying it around in the same way I did with Nomad. I don’t write in hand (seriously I can’t) and I love extra canvas. Manta shape feels so great in hand and it’s so slick. I wish that Nomad would be enough for me, but it’s not.
    But I understand your point and I agree that most people would be happier with Nomad if they don’t hit that screen estate limit. Nomad is this little friend, always with you ready for any wild adventure. Manta is more serious and distinguished colleague waiting for deeper focus.

    I think you've talked me into what I already knew but didn't want to admit: the Nomad might be the device for me, even though I feel like I "want" the Manta.

      Just wanted to share some points to consider, especially in the heat of the moment when the Manta is the shiny new thing. Months from now, when the hype has died down, consumers will be looking at both devices and wondering which one to get. I just want people to know that they don't always have to buy the newest thing, but can still enjoy a quality product.

    I only write on a table, lap, or some such. I _read_ while holding it. But hold it while writing? That's alien to me. It's interesting that some folks write in the air, so to speak.

      For me, I'm writing at an angle much like holding a small notebook. I hardly have the space and time to sit down and write on a desk.

    What I like most about my Manta over my Nomad is the Manta's flexible screen (rather than the glass screen on the Nomad). It so more satisfying to write on. I always write on a table, so having more screen space is great for me and I can get my Manta in my handbag, so I can still take out.

    Thanks again for sharing your experiences with the different SuperNote products. You have confirmed once again for me and my use cases that the Nomad is right for me. I'll be receiving my Nomad next week!

      I'm glad the video helped. I can only share what I've experienced and I'm trying to talk about things that I'd want to know if I was trying to figure out which device to get. Again, Supernote products are great. I just don't want people getting something that will end up in a drawer in three months because they don't like using it.

    I waited almost one year and a half for the Manta. I have it now and I have been using it for two weeks, and I really like it. I use it for work notes, and it is great, but it has also make want to wriat every night like a diary,...and then, I feel that I would like to wrte ouside, and also draw. I have started to do it, and I see your point. And now I am really considering in getting a Nomad just for that personal use and keep the Manta for work... Thank you for your point of view

      Thank you for sharing your experience. Also glad you see my point about how the A6 size may be better for more personal use. If you do consider the Nomad, I think that will be a great compliment to the Manta.

    Although the video was mainly Manta vs Nomad, this was actually the most helpful video for me to decide between Manta vs Note Max.
    I was contemplating between the Manta vs Note Max for the past 3 days, but I didn't know about the wait time for a Manta was until you hinted at it in the video. I wanted to get my first e-ink tablet last year, and waited all of 2024 for the Manta, but then got conflicted because of the Note Max. I just can't wait another 2+ months for my first e-ink tablet. Honestly, after my research I wanted to get the Manta, but the timing just isn't right at this moment given the shipping times.
    Glad I found this video, although I wish I found it earlier because it would've saved me 3 days.

    Regarding the size of Nomad vs Manta… I largely agree, I got a reMarkable 2 and a Nomad around the same time, and for journaling/taking notes I found that the rM2 was larger than necessary. I found it was tiring to keep writing the “line length” of the rM2 without the line break (which was also a break for my writing hand/arm) that the SN Nomad provided just due to its smaller size.
    That being said, this year I found myself with a new use case that favored a larger screen - planner templates. These things are just on the large size as far their dimensions, and the Supernote note format doesn’t support zooming. My choices now are going with using my planner templates on my rM2’s larger screen, and forgo all of SN’s amazing features (blech) or go for the SN Manta.
    So for anyone considering having both Nomad and Manta, I think as time goes on you will likely have use cases that are specific for each size.

    Part of the improved feel is the plastic screen (under the FeelWrite 2 film) of the Mobius screen. It gives slight flex that’s more like a pad of paper. It also increases durability.

    If you like the "light pen" feeling you'll like this kit that's sold on Etsy that allows you to take the OEM Ratta ceramic pen replacements and put them in the classic Pilot G2 pen housing.
    It's awesome when I want to switch from my Heart Of Metal 2 pen..

    Size really depends on your use case. I will be annotating a lot of PDF’s and papers with small text. I will carry it around to places as well, but mainly use it while placed on a table.
    I also always preferred larger devices. I currently have a Pro Max iPhone and a 16 inch MacBook Pro which I also carry everywhere.

    I ditched my HoM2 for a LAMY as well-except mine is an off-the-shelf EMR (no ceramic nib). Really sucks Ratta didn’t work with LAMY to get that erase button in their pens for the Manat.
    Biiiig swing and an even bigger miss. I’d have happily given them more of my money.

    Been obsessively watching e-ink videos for a while before nervously plunking down $$$ on a device. So I tripped upon your channel. You're too wordy, repetitive and so I find myself clicking off early. But this one was better. I see how you edit-cut more often to get to the points you want to make. Appreciate the work-in-progress!

      Your story is my story from two years ago lol. I almost bought a reMarkable 2 because I didn’t know there were other options. The A5X was my ultimate decision and I love the hell out of this thing.
      Pretty sure there’s no bad options if you’re just looking to write. The Boox stuff is great if you want the whole Android suite, but I wanted a paper replacement. The organization from Supernote is amazing.

    My Manta comes Monday. The biggest test is eink notebook versus paper (and I prefer a composite notebook size (B5) which the Manta is close to). I have this feeling I'll be returning the Manta, but I'll give it a solid 3 weeks. I also will have the heart of metal 2 and the Lamy and I'll be returning one of them. I have Lamy fountain pens and i really like them, so I suspect that will be the route I take, but we'll see.

    • @paperless3739

      Give it a try and I hope it works out for you. Once the novelty of the device wears off, I'd suggest pushing it even harder to see if you enjoy using it in your daily workflow. It took me a while with my original A6X to find a place for it in my everyday writing. Glad I stuck with it.

  • @belak512
    @belak512 25 днів тому

    I picked up a used Remarkable 2 and Supernote Nomad a few weeks ago, and I have to agree with your assessment.
    For my use case, the Nomad replaces the paper notebooks I used to carry around with me, but now with better organization. It's definitely a great device for writing and perfectly fits my use case.
    Imagining the Supernote Manta as a Remarkable 2-sized Nomad reinforced that for me. I think it would be a great device for sketching (where the bigger screen makes a difference), and would be a great device to keep on your desk, but it's much less compelling as a device to run around with for me.

    • @t0dd000
      @t0dd000 25 днів тому +1

      My ideal notebook size is B5 or about composition notebook size which the Manta is, roughly. I get it on Monday. We'll see.

    • @belak512
      @belak512 25 днів тому

      @@t0dd000 Honestly, if you like B5, the Manta seems like it would be a good fit. I tend to prefer smaller notebooks (B6 is one of my favorites) and the Nomad is good for me. It's all about knowing your use case, and mostly boils down to personal preference.

    • @paperless3739
      @paperless3739  24 дні тому

      I'm glad you found a similar use case. I originally thought that I'd like the bigger size, but I prioritize mobility more than screen size for writing. Sketching is a different story, though. If I drew, I'd like the A5 size.

    Thank you for your honest review on Manta. I am trying to decide which one I shoud go for, Nomad or Manta. My main usage for the device is to use for my business using some pdf files as templates on the device and go for paperless. And I would be reading articles and books on the device. One problem is, as my eyes are aging too, I can only read without glasses about 45~50 cm away. I would prefer using a small Nomad as it would be much portable, but my usages (work templates for paperless and reading) may not suit for Nomad. I am not sure which one I should go with. If you were me, would you still choose Nomad?

    • @paperless3739
      @paperless3739  13 днів тому +1

      Thank you for the question. It's hard for me to say, given I don't know how well you see and the duration you'll be using the device. For reading, the larger Manta may be better. However, like I mentioned, if you need the portability, I believe the Nomad is the better size.

    Most people write with the device on a table, a knee, etc? I/ve had the A6X2 for a year...and I don't think I've ever held it with one hand while writing. Not sure I'd recommend a specific version to others though, in terms of size, unless they tried it for themselves.

    I will recieve my nomad on monday. This made me happy because i come from a note air 2. But for 3 years it felt to big for how I wanted to use it. Was really torn about what size to get... hopefully it is how I think it would be. This video made me feel better. But I am nervous 🙈🙈

    *13:38** - TABLET SIZE*
    Its another case of use-case again, I have an A5X and have just ordered the A5X2 as my A5X is full, and need the expandability of the SD Card. However, if the A4X2 was already out... thats the one I'd go for. I need as much screen as I can get, many of my notes span pages with drawings etc and if I can get the whole note on less pages, all the better as its easier to digest.

    • @paperless3739
      @paperless3739  24 дні тому +1

      Good to know that there is an audience for a bigger size like an A4. I'd actually hope Ratta works on a palm device next, but I know they've been discussing an A4 size for a while.

    I got BOOX Go 10.3 as I didn’t want to wait 30-40days , I was hoping the writing texture would be more closer to paper but it’s not as I expected. In comparison to supernote manta which one feels more like paper ? What is best tablet that gives you the most paper like feeling ?

    • @xiaobai7060
      @xiaobai7060 25 днів тому +1

      Everyone is saying that the manta feels like a pen on a pad of paper(pad of paper is a softer feel), and the remarkable pro feels like pencil on paper(harder surface, but more pencil like experience). Those two are the only ones that i have heard feel like writing on paper. But two different types of experiences as to what materials when writing.

    • @paperless3739
      @paperless3739  24 дні тому

      I don't own any other e-ink device so you'd have to ask another content creator who compares the tablets. I really like the writing experience on the Supernote and would recommend it even though I haven't tried the others. The feel of the newest generation of tablets for Supernote is great. The texture adds to the simulation, but don't forget to consider a good pen too.

  • @christoalbor7324
    @christoalbor7324 21 день тому

    • @paperless3739

      I can't compare the feeling of the Nomad to the Manta because I have the older A6X. Compared to that device, the Manta feels much better

    Do you write very small? I feel the nomad size is too small but I also like to write when I’m on the couch

    • @paperless3739
      @paperless3739  24 дні тому

      I don't know if I write small, but I prefer the wide ruled template on the A6X and that works for me. The Nomad may feel small, but I've come to value the mobility and flexibility over screen space.

  • @mrspeeddemon727

    I just got my Manta yesterday. Took me 2 seconds to take that stretchy flimsy pen loop off.
    And no, that cheap plastic Lamy stylus is not a good solution. The nib is the same as the HOM2 or click stylus, but you're paying $85 for a piece of plastic that cost $10 to manufacture. HUGE rip off!

    • @paperless3739
      @paperless3739  24 дні тому +1

      I prefer the pen loop so I don't lose my pen. While the LAMY may feel cheap, it's closer to a normal pen than any I've tried. Give it some time and you may change your mind like I did.
