ਵਧਾਈਆਂ। ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੇਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਦਾਰ ਸੂੱਚਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਖੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਭੂਮੱਦੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਅਜਕਲ ਜਲੰਧਰ ਦੇ ਵਸਨੀਕ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਡੀਗੜ੍ਹ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਲੜਕੀ ਕਵਲਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਸੰਧੂ 1967 -68 ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਸਨ,ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਦਾ 100,200,400 ਮੀਟਰ ਦੌੜ ਦਾ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ।ਇਕ ਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਸੂਚਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ 1970-71 ਹਾਈ ਸਕੂਲ ਚਕੋਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਵੇਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਕੁਝ ਛੋਟੀਆਂ ਛੋਟੀਆਂ ਦੋੜਾਂ ਲਾਕੇ ਦਿਖਾਈਆਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਭੱਜਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੂਟ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਨ । ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਬੱਚੇ ਊਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ।ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਊਸ ਵਕਤ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੰਗੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਹੀ ਦੋੜਨਾ ਪੇਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਜੇਕਰ ਅਜ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਊਸ ਵਕਤ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਸੂੱਚਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਜਰੂਰ ਉਲਪਿੰਕ ਜਿਤਦੇ। ਪਰ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਕਾਰਨ ਵੀ ਊਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਮੱਲਾਂ ਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਊਹਨਾਂ ਉਪਰ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਬੀ ਉਮਰ ਰੱਖੇ। ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਹੀਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਕੇ ਅਰਜਨ ਐਵਾਰਡ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ।
