I have my great grandmother’s and gramma’s tablecloths and napkins in a drawer. You speaking of tablecloths brought tears to my eyes. I need to get them out and use them everyday. Nothing lasts forever. There are only a few of us left who ever knew them and can appreciate their hard working, ingenuity, and skills in so many areas. Thanks! 💙

If u are not a bean person, I would use those to make a white chicken chili. You can puree some to reduce the amount of whole beans and it thickens the chili. Then, towards the end add some cream cheese to melt in. You will not regret it!

I’m currently a caregiver for my 85-year-old dad while working full-time mostly remote. I try to cook on Sundays so the rest of the week it’s so simple to just heat up the meals. Today I am using a 1 pound package of chop meat and making chili with a ton of beans and vegetables, a small meatloaf That I will serve with some sort of potato and vegetable, I made chicken thighs in the crockpot yesterday and had enough leftover to make a great chicken soup so we will have that one evening as well. Friday night is always pizza night so there’s a few frozen ones or I can make homemade with a salad. One to two days a week I’m traveling so I hire an aid to stay with my dad and she will make him a sandwich or heat up leftovers, and I usually go out for lunch on the days I’m traveling so the left over lunch is my dinner. Thank you for all you do!

i just cooked a bag of dried beans, so my meals this week will be bean based... So, i will do baked beans with mashed potatoes, bean rice (portuguese recipe) with pan fried fish and green beans, veggie lasagne (no beans in it), bean and cabbage soup and pasta with chicken and peppers (no beans as well).
I have a very limited freezer space, so when i cook dried beans i eat half of it during that week, and freeze half and eat it during the rest of the month and the next month. i do it every other month, so we have a cheap and nutritious ingredient to base our meal, but don't get tired of eating always the same. it helps that we love beans.

I’ve been prepping my food stores and freezers for a good year and a half because we saw what was coming. We have inflation that is here now. So glad we stocked the freezers. The pantry is filling up with self stable foods. Don’t forget to have some canned milk, freeze some eggs if you get them on a good sale! Winter is coming and the droughts of this year will impact next year. Be ready people, a little stock up every week with bargains slow and steady wins the race.❤️🙏🏻

I love meal planning, I feel lost when I don’t have a meal plan for the week. This coming week will be roast chicken w/squash from the garden, then I will use the remaining chicken for chicken and biscuits for Sunday dinner. That’s my husband’s favorite meal. Monday will be bow tie pasta with sausage, sweet potato, and spinach from the garden, this will have a cream sauce to blend it all together. Tuesday we will have acorn squash from the garden stuffed with sausage and stuffing. Wednesday will be Mac and cheese with ham. I canned the ham earlier in the year. I’ll cook summer squash as a side dish, again from the garden. Thursday I am going to make risotto and I am going to try beet risotto. I’ve never made it but we have beets that a friend gave us from his garden and I thought we would give it a try. I will make a loaf of homemade bread to go with a couple of these meals too. If I get too many negative comments on the beet risotto from my sons I can switch it to mushroom risotto. My husband brought home a small bag of chanterelle mushrooms he picked yesterday and they are always a hit in our house.

Tuesday-Rotini pasta with sauce made of fresh tomatoes/garlic/onion from my garden and a whole bag of spinach that got accidentally frozen and I didn't want to waste it. I cooked the pasta while I sauteed the vegetables and then put them in the blender--it made a beautiful emerald green sauce. We had it with some canned green beans and a fruit salad made with fresh nectarine, a cup of pineapple, two strawberries from the garden, 1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt and a handful of mini marshmallows (treat for my husband)
Wednesday - Crockpot beef stew (with potatoes and carrots from my garden) and cornbread sticks
Thursday - ham slices with scalloped potatoes and broccoli
Friday - some kind of shrimp recipe (I bought some frozen shrimp at my last Sam's Club shopping trip)
Saturday - grill-out with chicken breasts, corn on the cob, and cucumber/tomato/onion salad

The last time I made meatloaf I doubled it by adding lentils cooked in beef broth to my beef. I froze the extra meat loaf for a night that we need an easy meal. Doubling recipes and freezing for later can be a great “fast food” solution.

Congratulations on the great prices you got. That is wonderful.! I caught a really good sale this past weekend iga cake mixes were 65 cents each I can’t make them homemade that cheap. Beef Round roast $3.99 lb, whole pork loin $1.81 lb brown sugar and powdered sugar 77 cents for 2 lb bags 1 lb bacon 2.68. Meal planning is kind of easy for me because I start the year before by what I grow in the garden, the chickens we breed and raise for eggs and meat and by buying meat on sale and pressure canning and or freezing. 1. Roast pork, homemade brown gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans, 2. Sweet n sour pork stir fried vegetables and rice, 3. Pork egg rolls, rice, homemade dipping sauce, 4. Fried boneless loin pork chops, fried corn, mashed potatoes, all of the pork except chops are pressure canned in quarts in my pantry ,5. Chicken a la king ,peas, cornbread, 6 chicken pot pie, 7 chicken salad sandwiches and fries, 8 chicken noodle soup, salad, 9 chicken n dumplings, mashed potatoes, green beans, 10 fried catfish, French fries coleslaw , homemade onion rings 11 tuna salad sandwiches fries or chips, 12. Air fried salmon Pattie’s , creamed peas, fried potatoes 13. Pinto beans with ham broth, fried potatoes cornbread14. Pulled pork barbecue, homemade homecanned baked beans, potato salad or coleslaw 15 sausage eggs gravy biscuits and hashbrowns . Spaghetti or lasagna salad and cheesy garlic toast. Tonight was quick and easy bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes and waffles. This week I have been pressure canning some of the beef round roast that I got for such a great price one way is it is in a red wine broth with shredded carrots and apple a ball blue book recipe, the other is seared on both sides cut in one inch thick pieces just the size to fit a wide mouth jar with sliced mushrooms and broth, some will be cut in strips and seasoned with soy sauce, ginger and garlic for quick and easy pepper steak. I hope this gives you some ideas and hopefully helps . Love your videos. God bless you and your family.

Meal plan ideas: 1)slow cook chuck roast in beef broth from this one dinner with the beef + sautéed bell pepper and onions + roasted zucchini and brown rice; 2)another night using the slow cooked beef--add flour to the broth to make gravy and a can of mushrooms and pour over slices of homemade bread + fresh veggies;3) use the leftover rice more of the beef and some canned beans to make burritos ( add salsa and cheese to taste); 4)BBQ some chicken to serve with rice or roasted potato wedges and salad; 5)use leftover chicken for a salad with lettuce and other veggies; 6)use leftover chicken to make a taco night -- use the bones to make broth in my slow cooker

I do that also with tablecloths. Also, I have put colorful vintage tablecloth over the foot of beds in spare bedrooms in the summer for a summery look. Molasses - my grandma's Christmas molasses cookie...so good and chewy! That was a super shopping haul.

I try to plan dinner meals for a week at a time, in writing. If I’ll be using a recipe, I note the cookbook and page. Then I save all my menu sheets for future inspiration.
    For example:
    1. Roast pork loin
    Long-grain and wild rice mix
    Corn
    2. Chicken and biscuit casserole (using a pint of home canned boneless breast)
    Side salads
    3. Homemade Lasagna(made ahead freezer meal)
    Salad
    4. Pork paprikash (using diced pork left from roast) over noodles
    Side salad
    5. Burritos (made ahead freezer meal)
    Tortilla chips
    Spanish rice

5 meals. Leftover Lasagna from the freezer with some sauteed power greens, cabbage, carrots, cherry tomatoes onions and roasted garlic. Breakfast for dinner with buckwheat pancakes and home fries. Lentil stew with whatever veggies are in the house. Baked potatoes with salsa, sliced cucumber and onions. Cornbread and instant pot BBQ pinto beans, sliced tomatoes.
The molasses is a great buy. I use molasses in my beans and sometimes on cornbread!! I have also done it on pancakes instead of maple syrup! Thanks for the video!

This weeks meal plan started on Sunday, 8/14. My birthday was Sunday and to be frugal my husband cooked for me instead of going out. He grilled sirloin steaks I got on sale and also hamburger and hot dogs since the charcoal was hot. Steak and grilled potatoes on Sunday. Burgers on Monday with potato salad made with some leftover grilled potatoes. Hot dogs on Tuesday with baked beans. Leftover cold steak salad on Wednesday. Remaining leftovers on Thursday. Friday is charcuterie board and cocktails. This is a great week since most of the cooking is already done. My husband works for a dairy and often brings home pints of heavy cream that are near expiration and can’t be sold. I use my stand mixer to make butter at least twice a month. Once it’s chilled I cut into cubes and freeze.

❤ the tablecloth. I always layer mine. Some great finds. I always shop loss leaders. Last week I bought a full grown rosemary plant for 50 cents and dried it. About 3/4 of a spice jar for 50 cents...it's fresh and aromatic. 5 day meal plan from the house: spag with meatballs, butter chicken over rice, tuna salad with crackers, chef salads (just bought a head of lettuce) with meat, cheese & veggies from the garden, boneless chicken breasts with fresh brussel sprouts.

Like you I have a round table and many vintage square table cloths that just don't fit! 🙂 Meal plans .. frittata and salad...crispy chicken cutlets, homemade mac n cheese with broccoli....bacon and tomato sandwiches(so many tomatoes right now).....pot roast with yorkshire pudding..... sausage, peppers and onions. Wonderful discounted items you found! 😁

Great table cloth hack. Awesome haul from Stop and Save. I wish we had one around here. I'm going to be working on meal plans this weekend. I used to do this regularly but my mom lives with us and is a wonderful cook so she usually plans the meals. We are going to sit down together and take inventory of what we have in the freezer and pantry and plan from there. I'm going to show her a few of your videos as inspiration 😁. We figured out this week that we are 4 years away from paying off our mortgage and I'd like to implement more frugal habits so maybe we could pay extra and get it paid off sooner!

Another option for that tablecloth is to fold each side into the center so you can see just the flowers and use it as a table runner on top of the pink tablecloth, just to change it up. 😀 Deals are definitely harder to find, especially where we are in Florida. Definitely searching them out and using what we have until we can find them. Before I use to buy whatever we wanted, now I stop and think about what we really need instead of impulse buying. If you can get more of that corn, par boil it, let it cool and then freeze it to enjoy later. I love to keep some in the freezer and today I just did it with fresh Georgia peaches. Thanks for a great video!
    Meal Plan:
Buffalo chicken baked potatoes...chicken breast (or your favorite type) sliced, pan fried and tossed in buffalo sauce, add to top of baked potato, add on shredded cheese, ranch dressing and bacon crumbles
Burrito bowls..taco meat served on top of rice and served with a variety of toppings, depending on what you have..sour cream, avocado, salsa, shredded cheese, jalapeños, etc.
Cajun chicken and potatoes...chicken breast (or your favorite type) sliced, pan fried, add in sliced crispy potatoes (do this ahead of time) add in a can of corn and toss in cajun seasoning.
Buffalo chicken wraps...store bought chicken tenders, fried, oven or air fryer, your choice, toss in buffalo sauce, serve in tortilla with coleslaw.
Hamburger stew...I usually serve this with either crackers, cornbread or hush puppies, but it is good just on its own, top it with shredded cheese, so good!

Definitely go back and get more squash! I just made ratatouille and it was delicious! We don’t like eggplant, so I just cubed 2 zucchini and 2 yellow squash, a large red onion, and tossed those in olive oil. I added a can of diced tomato…including the juice. I poured that on a sheet pan and added a little salt and pepper and some Italian seasoning. I baked it in the oven until the edges started to brown a little (about 30 minutes). It made a delicious vegetable for dinner that night. I refrigerated the leftovers and served a small bowl of it cold with each of our lunches the next day and I still have about one serving left. I think I’ll serve that with scrambled eggs for lunch on Thursday. Next time I’m at the store, I’m buying more of those ingredients so I can made this again. You can use diced garden tomatoes in this recipe, but I loved the extra sauciness of the canned tomatoes.

Congrats on those geat deals! Meals I plan to have this week to use up what needs using include: falafel wraps with veggies and hummos, left over homemade pizza (just a couple slices left), salad with a couple of cheese ends shredded into it, homemade manicotti that has been sitting in the freezer too long, pierogi with sauteed veg and apple sauce. Also have pre-made pancakes and french toast in freezer to use up for multiple breakfasts/brunches.
