  • This 52km coastal hike along the Bay of Fundy holds some of the most amazing views the maritimes has to offer.
It reminds me a lot of the Fundy Footpath in New Brunswick, but a fair amount more tame in regard to the amount of hills (mind you there are a handful of those signature heart racing hills!). In fact you can see the cliffs of the Fundy Footpath directly across the Bay on the western part of the hike.
There was plenty of wildlife along the trail and I had the pleasure of spending 15 minutes alongside a Barred Owl who I would not have seen had I not been jogging by spooking it to another tree, which after 10km was a pleasant break and a very uplifting experience to relax, observe and film such a beautiful and unique bird.
If you have any questions, input or suggestions for future hikes or videos, don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
As always, I hope you enjoy my hike !

when i had a warrant out for my arrest in New Brunswick this trail was the perfect hiding place. 10/10 would hide from the police again here.

WOW!!!! Don't I wish I was hiking this trail with you. I am orginally from New Brunswick but now live in Ontario. I just retired and I very much want to move back home. Your videos make me homesick. I have taken up hiking and have been hiking on and off for the last 7 years. However, the longest hike I have ever done so far is a 14 km hike. My hiking normally consists of hiking during the days and spending the nights in a hotel. I would love to be able to spend the night on the trail, but I feel I am too old to be doing that by myself. I sure do hope you continue to do these videos of you hiking. I very much appreciate all the work you put into making them. Do you take your dogs with you when you hike?

14km is a great distance to be able to enjoy so many great places. There are quite a few light weight sleeping pads that are comfortable, as well as inflatable pillows and quilts or sleeping bags. If it’s something you truly want to do and spend an overnighter I believe you can make it happen!
Depending on the hike I do bring one of my pups on my solo adventures. He’s quite the character and the companionship and high spirits on trail is very welcomed!

Hey! Great video. I’ve never done Chignecto but I am planning on it this year. I’ve done the Fundy Footpath a couple times. I read in a comment you only spent one night on this hike? I’m planning on bringing my 14 year old with me on this one who is an athlete but never did a multi day hike. I’m not sure how he’ll be able to follow.

Yeah, my itinerary was slightly aggressive finishing in about 24hours haha. I plan on trying to do the hike with my 8yo son if I find the time this year. You’d be best to aim for 3 days, 2 nights and your son should manage out well! I dragged my son on the Laugavegur Trail last year in Iceland. It was 55km about similar difficulty and around 15km/day and he was quite comfortable!
I’ll be back to run 3 loops of this trail October 5th for the Chiggy Ultra. It’ll be my first 100 miler 😬

Great video. How heavy was your pack?

    • @HikingThru

Can’t say for sure but I’d guess 35-40lb. I’ve got my gear under 20lb these days though with my new setup and 40L pack.

@@HikingThru I will be heading up next week and Im targeting 35lbs over 3 nights. Really trying to keep the weight down to make it enjoyable.

3 nights will be a comfortable distance each day. I only did the 1 night and didn’t start until 4pm and ended at 5pm the next day.
35lb is a good weight to have as well.
I hope you have a fantastic hike!
