REAL trains! I remember riding those old coaches. Super comfortable! Nice woven material seats. Each car had its own generator so REFRIGERATOR in the summer time. 😂

The platforms back then were in far better condition then today, and they were still _wooden_. MTA has really neglected this station, and some shiny new elevators aren't nearly enough to rectify the current issues it has.
Also, what was that huge fire in the background? It's a little eerie, but this is amazing and rare footage nonetheless!
Awesome footage! Does anyone know which tall buildings were built which now tower over the horizon looking west down the tracks in Floral Park? You can this view at 0:55
I think they are in Brooklyn, they were built around 4 years ago. By Main Street in Mineola and the former crossing by Nassau Tower they really dominated the sky above where the tracks disappeared on the horizon looking west.
Nice. All GP38s with a few MP15ACs. I would have expected to see a few C420s as they were still on LI back then. Maybe they were relegated to freight service by then.
Once I get up the money I have tons of Super 8 sound films of LIRR C420s, Penn Central E-7As, NJ Transit GG-1, E-8As, Ex Southern E-8A, Many Steam Engines, etc.

I have tons from Mineola. Super 8 sound film. It has to be converted and it costs a lot but will be coming during the next few months. I loved the old triple whistle crossings with the C420s laying on the horns.
@@howardjohnson6911 Excellent!!!! Mineola looks so different now. My grandma lived in Mineola about a mile from the station, I used to hear the trains all the time while visiting. Great station to railfan!

Looks like a Montauk branch train in the last 20 seconds of this video...or was it Ronkonkoma?
That is Floral Park. I hardly ever went to those 2 locations.
