Thank you for your awesome sincere reaction to one of my favorite Rush instrumentals ever. I would like you to react to Freewill. It is my absolute favorite Rush song ever and the guitar solo section is the very best in my opinion. During the guitar solo of Freewill, all instruments are jamming at top notch. Is it a guitar solo or just a free for all? Please analyse and let me know your perspective. Thank you.
i always say the same thing with 2112. what happened that seemed kind of short for 20 min. time to do working man ua-cam.com/video/sI5VuBzo-Qc/v-deo.html
As a lifelong Rush fan (40 years) and hobbyist musician, there is nothing better than seeing a musician discover Rush. Enjoy the ride! They are just incredible. I cried when Neil died. Truly a soundtrack of my life. Glad I got to see them 35 times live! So yeah, 2112 is a must. Do the studio version and maybe lyric video. It’s an incredibly well through out and performed masterpiece that saved their careers probably. After that hit some Signals and more Moving Pictures stuff. Camera Eye is great. You will always appreciate the musicianship. I love Digital Man and no one ever reacts to it. Their “funkiest “ song ever. Take care. ✌️
That me too! And that's why I'm here. My favorite part time is getting other music lover's into Rush. They're simply the best. And the new prog is incredible too: Plini, Caligula's Horse, Haken, David Maxim Micic...
To all you rush fans( i am one myself) not everyone that listens to or plays music may or may not know certain songs. To this person in this video thank you for listening to rush( even at a later stage of your life) and giving their music a chance to impress you. I went to church up to 17 years and never listened to music other than church hyms. Then had people who said give rush a chance and choose 80's hair metal. After high school and those rush fans were not in my life- i gave rush a chance. Never looked back- they are my favorite band. I was lucky enough to see them live 4 times. I am now 53 years old and my 6- cd player in my car always has 5 cd's from rush in it. The other cd is Zazen -Mystery School - an excellant instrumental album.
Yes, that's absolutely right - this is a live version with a number of differences. As good as this is I prefer the studio version, especially that guitar intro which is on a classical guitar rather than electric.
My family never got in the way of my obsession! Lol I took my kids to a rush concert in 07” and my daughter knew every word to every song I was so proud! I love Rush, master musicianship! RIP Neil 🙏
I've been listening to Rush since 1982 and when I listen to them and listen to songs I haven't heard for a long time it's almost like hearing it the first time, they never disappoint me
I am a Rush unicorn. One of the 5 females at Rush concerts in the 80s. As a parent, I'm happy that at least one of my three kids gets it. I took him to concerts during S&A and CA tours. This mom is an air drumming pro.
@@christiep5391 your story reminds me of a semi funny Rush story. My third tour seeing them was Power Windows Spring of 86. Marillion was opening. So my high school buds who went to the other shows with me, anyway we get to our seats, there are 7 ladies in front of us. Being Seniors in HS and googly eyes we started conversation. They were there for Marillion not Rush and once Marillions set ended it was back to a sea of guys. But once Rush started playing who cared, right? 😂
I'm a new great grandparent who also loves this music. I saw them live a few times and agree that the quality was just as high as their studio recordings. Another couple of Rush songs to check out: YYZ & Red Barchetta
Longtime Rush fan, since 2112, the classic "a friend came over and said 'dude, you gotta listen to this!'" Have seen them live around 20 times, lost count. Turned on my sister and her best friend, and am proud to say my son is a professional drummer whose first concert was Rush, with his dad. Amazing band, and truly transgenerational.
In my opinion, the ultimate version of La Villa Strangiato exists only in audio format on the Exit Stage Left live album. There is a concert video for this album, but it doesn’t include all of the tracks from the album. The most blistering and savage guitar work I’ve ever heard from Alex is at the climax of his lead on the Exit Stage Left version of LVS. The crescendo and climax of that moment represent the apex of what Rush was during that era. Absolutely mesmerizing.
I totally get what you're saying in the 80s I really knew only the songs that got radio air time like free will, spirit or radio, and Tom Sawyer. Then my boyfriend's friend dragged us to a show and I became hooked that was the presto tour so most of my favorite Rush songs are from presto onward but I appreciate all Rush so I can see how you said that you were aware of them but didn't really know them.
2112 - Set aside ~23 minutes for a fantastic trip. This was the album that ended up being their global launch. The studio executives were not happy with Rush's weak sales and long songs. They were thinking of dropping them and told them "No more long songs". So the band decided the entire 1st side of the album would be 2112 and if that was the end of their record deal, so be it. The record company didn't want to release the album but they had already paid the recording costs. When the FM stations started playing 2112 the album took off and Rush could do what ever they wanted after that. 🟥🍁🟥 🤘😎👍
True that! 2112 is the first Rush I ever heard and was soon hooked. My older brother's friend was a manager for a Hi-Fi shop. We would hang out there after hours and listen to the top shelf home quadraphonic demo set up. Sony direct drive turntable with a wet tracking tonearm. That fed into a 20 band graphic equalizer, into Marantz receiver then into a fat Marantz Poweramp fed into 4 huge Jensen tower speakers. Ridiculously bulky and electrically inefficient gear by today's standards but it was sweet and pure sound and the smell of hot bakelite is something I remember to this day.
Executives "no more long songs/story songs" RUSH: Sticks it to the man "here's 2112". 3 million copies sold in the US ALONE! I guess RUSH knew their audience better than a bunch of know-it-all "execs" haha!
If you heard 2112 on the radio, you're definitely in the minority. Most people listened to a friend's copy of the album because it's the kind of thing that you want to share with a friend, like recommending a book that changed your life and you can't wait to see whether you friend is similarly moved.
Another really good live version of this song is La Villa Srangiato Pinkpop 1979! (I think I was wrong on the year in previous comment, nobody butcher me). This video shows Alex a lot closer and you can really see his moves! And even with a smashed finger!! Even if you just watch it on your own time it’s worth checking out!
"YYZ" was created to be an instrumental that would CHALLENGE all three of them in live performance ... a piece of music on their set list that was a HIGH Hurdle to get right in front of a Live Audience. It is a Three Way Showcase of Each of their musical talents and mastery of their crafts. It also features the Quintessential Neil Peart Solo .. one I witnessed live in 1983 which brought the arena to a Frenzy while Geddy and Alex went backstage to have sandwiches and drinks .. No Shit .. from our elevated seats off Stage Left we could literally see Geddy and Alex backstage having lunch while Neil Held the Fort against an audience of Thousands. Watch a live video of "YYZ" I will love to hear what you think.
YYZ , was written by the band to celebrate going home after a long tour, YYZ is the code on baggage claim tickets that you attach to your luggage so it goes to the right destination ( YYZ is Toronto designation airline code) This tune was written rather quickly and was a staple o
I was introduced to Rush in 1979 when I was 16 when a new kid to my school queues up 2112 on the turntable and we were all blown away. I never tire of their music and I love seeing someone else hear them for the first time and have the same reaction I did.
In 1982, I was on a High School Band exchange trip to Kingston, Ontario, just north of the border near the St. Lawrence River. The family my friend and I stayed with (our Canadian hosts who were awesome) took us to a 2nd hand record shop near the river. It was filled with just about everything you could imagine. Of course I looked for some RUSH albums (vinyl back then). I found a RED VINYL version of Hemishperes and bought it for 3 or 4 bucks I think. When I got home, I put it on my record player and the sound was AMAZING - way richer, fuller, more volume than my cookie cutter black vinyl version. I would turn the lights off and lay down on the couch and drift off into Rush's Universe listening to this masterpiece. I still have that album kept safely in my clothes closet and I will be getting a new turntable to play it on and enjoy again.
This was Alex's musical interpretation of a scary dream he had. And when listening to it, knowing this, it really creates a splendid soundscape. Looking forward to more Rush on this channel. Thanks for the great content!!
100 years from now Rush will still be a staple along with other classic Rock bands...NOBODY WILL REMEMBER Steve Vai, Joe Satriani...they are simply machines playing without soul......I have at least 3-5 Satriani casstes. They will NEVER be played again! Music of the 60's and 70's was the BEST music era and will ALAWAYS be around! Anything after is just a byproduct (trying to improve on GREATNESS) and will be forgotten!
I'm a Canadian that discovered Rush when they were producing and releasing the music that you are reacting to today, if you are blown away listening to their material now just imagine what it was like when it was fresh and brand new , WOW !!! WOW !!! WOW!!! They were totally awesome and I wore out many LP albums back in the day, so what I would recommend to you is to check out a British band that was around back when Rush was releasing their awesome music, the band is called Be-Bop Deluxe and their guitarist was pretty darn good as well, the album you really need to start with is "Drastic plastic" and side one is pretty much a bunch of songs that blend together to make up side one ,pretty awesome, also two outstanding tracks from other albums are "Sister Seagull" and "Possession " so I highly recommend that you check out this band...Cheers!!!
Watching their “Live in Cleveland “ rendition back to back so you can compare their earliest reiteration of that masterpiece to one of their latest performances. Doesn’t just hold up, their showmanship is spot on!
La Villa is their "mic drop" before a mic drop became a thing. It's the final song off of their last album that was any sort of concept/epic (not counting their very last album). This is one of the only 70's Rush songs I go back to frequently, otherwise I'm a definite mid-era, Rush fan. Would love to hear you react to one of their more "New Wave" influenced albums of the 80's Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows or Hold Your Fire.
Love the reaction!! I’ve been pushing for this song for awhile now!! This is from 1976 I believe, it was filmed as a live performance as you said! They are great musicians and always play for the song!! Each one usually gets a bit of spotlight, but I love show you can hear each instrument and they are so tight with each other, it can sound different each time you listen to it! The studio version is great, I think it took them 3 takes to record it! Pink pop live version is another good one! As much as you love hard rock you might like some of their cuts off “Caress Of Steel” album! It rocks!! Thanks for the reaction, really looking forward to you and your wife sitting down for the epic journey of “2112”! She’ll love it! (Make sure to have the lyrics)! Be Well!!
I just wanted to say Thank you for a legit reaction to Rush. So many sites have these over the top fake reactions done nothing more than for subscribers, likes, profit.. I appreciate your genuine analysis of each song and your breakdown. It's funny to see you try and hold you comment throughout the song, almost like you can't stand not to say something. Keep up the great work and thoughtful insight.
This is one of many favorite songs from Rush. My introduction to them was 2112 and I can remember where I was when a friend brought that album over and I heard it for the first time, and that was 43 years ago.
I’ve been a life long fan from the beginning of the band. From front row seating to camping out for 2 days to get tickets. Rush has been part of my life and I’m so glad your parents listened to them even though you may have not liked them it put the band in your subconscious mind for you to enjoy at a later age:))). Thank you for giving an honest review. Rush was never given the credit they so well deserved. 24 times I’ve seen them in concert. Giddy just thinking about it❤️. YYZ is another instrumental song flooded with talent that you may want to hear. Keep up the good work✌️.
I got to see live them once live around 2012 or so, Geddy's voice at one point sounded like an angel's. Great review. I've been a Rush fan sine the 70's and somehow missed this great song until last year. Let's just say that bands make a lot of music, and it happens. Got a speeding ticket once. The cop laughed when I said I was listening to Red Barchetta.
Thank you for appreciating a band who are to me the biggest musical influence in my life. For me, they are without a doubt the greatest musical trio ever. All supremely talented, not forgetting the beautiful lyrics of Neil Peart RIP.
I believe your reactions are genuine. Rush has a huge catalogue of music. I've not heard every rush song and I've been a fan for 30 years. In the 30 yrs my tastes zigged and zagged. That's life.
Congrats!! You’re officially hooked! Rush will be a part of youre life from now on. You’ll discover so many subtleties that will continue to amaze you. 2112 changed my life! It was the most powerful thing I had ever experienced! Because you don’t just hear RUSH, you experience it! And you realize early on, that you’re bit just hearing some rock song. You’re experiencing a symphonic composition! Few accomplish this once. RUSH did it so often that it became their trademark!! Enjoy your journey!
Now that you’ve really listened to Rush, I’m sure it’s difficult to hold back listening to everything, but thanks for holding back so you can share the experience, lol. If you sense any impatience with Rush fans, I think it’s only because we can’t wait to see the younger generation discover what we know. It’s like we’ve got this big secret we can’t wait to share. No worries - there’s plenty of time and lots to discover. I have to agree with other posters - my vote is 2112 next. Studio version with lyrics - the epic story is fundamental to the music. Some of Lifeson’s work is soooo expressive and relates to the story. It will give you a new appreciation for how good he is ( and I would put the solos in this piece up against David Gilmour any day, and that’s saying something!). Cheers!
Im a 46 year old Hardcore Punk Bored by Punk i got Back to thrash, tech death, prog and classic Rock... and i play bass... i got i to rush 2 years ago, always knowing the Band by Name, but never heard em... knew geddy because of les claypool Now they are my favorite out of the 70s Nuff said
Lifelong fan of Rush, there are a hand full of bands that don't have a bad song in their catalog. Some songs feel better at certain times, but pick any album, any song, they never disappoint.
La Villa Strangiato, Limelight and Freewill have my favourite guitar solo sections. Not only because Lifeson but also because Lee and Peart. From a Rush fan to a Satriani/Vai fan: you should listen to Plini (if you are not familiar with his music), "Electric Sunrise", "Paper Moon", "Cascade", "Every Piece Matters" are beautiful compositions of this guitarist.
All Rush fans love love love their instrumentals. We love that younger guys like you are feeling their older songs and kinda bringing them back front and center. Their 2nd-to-last album, Snakes & Arrows, had THREE instrumentals - the most on any single Rush album. You could do a video of those 3 Snakes instrumentals, which each will blow anyone's mind. They are more modern and will show how Rush never changed, and just got better. Rush can only be approached in little bites, like renovating an old sports car, because if you try to take them all in at once you would end up in a mental institution. So, maybe some unique perspectives that take in 2-3 songs at a time might work. Just my 2 cents...
Huge Rush fan! Found them in middle school in about 1980 with Spirit of the Radio, then worked backwards. My kids are 30 & 25. They know very little Rush music (maybe 2112). They got Iron Maiden and my 90's music like Alice in Chains and Sound Garden.
I don’t know anything about the recording of the video but I have seen them twice and there was nothing better on the recording than they did live. Wouldn’t doubt it at all.
You said that you had wish you had listen to more RUSH back in the day !!! It's never too late. My kid is 16 years old and has heard every single album and Loves them all ! R40's Jacobs Ladder should be your next video, just so you can see what are the best 60+ year old professional musicians are like !
This is live in the studio. The album version has a classical guitar intro and a cleaner interlude. Live stage versions tend to be looser and louder, even if it's all program music (you KNOW what notes are going to be played). There's one particular version out there with Al playing with a pulled nail. Looks gross and painful, but he still pulled it off. I'm glad you're rediscovering Rush. I've been a fan since I was 13, been to more of their shows than to any other act, and throughout my life I've been able to identify with their music. Let me clarify that last statement. There's music that I loved as a kid that I only have a passing interest in now, and a lot of the music I listen to now I probably wouldn't have been able to appreciate even as a young adult. Rush has somehow constantly been ahead of my musical curve so that as my tastes matured, they've always been compelling. Even as their music stopped being progressive or groundbreaking, their lyrics got more sophisticated. Their sweet spot (great music, great lyrics, all in one place) is ironically enough, found in their biggest commercial triumph, Moving Pictures. I say ironically because this is a decidedly noncommercial band. Go figure. A note about being familiar with artists and not their material. Everyone knows who Miles Davis was, but if you ask if they've heard his version of "Some Day my Prince Will Come" they'll go "Uhhh, I don't know..." Being unfamiliar with Rush material is not the same thing as being unfamiliar with Beatle music, which some UA-cam reactors claim to be. That, my friend, is hard to believe. This? Not so much.
lol a telling song The "B" side of 2112 "Passage To Bangkok" first line "Our first is in Bogota, to check Colombian Fields. The native's smile, and pass along a sample of their Yield" That from memory you'll have to check me on it.
That is indeed a different version from the studio recording (from Hemispheres), and also different than the most commonly found live version (when Alex's finger was injured), and also the Exit...Stage Left live version. Rush excels live, their music is almost entirely written to be performed. La Villa is probably the best introduction to their pre-Permanent Waves nuanced writing style, kinda the last of the prog era. Again, Alex is seriously underrated. I REALLY love Satriani, totally, totally amazing guy, also anything Dave Gilmour has done.
Moving Pictures has a LOT of hidden gems, so does Permanent Waves, Signals brings in more keyboard and that sticks around a few years, this I know seeing them live every year through 2004
Jacob's Ladder and The Camera Eye have my votes. Studio version of course. As a fellow musician (drummer) you're always better off hearing the studio release before taking it live. This way gives you some insight as to any changes that might have been made to the track What I love about studio recording back in the day is the song was always played live in the studio.
it's a live performance, recorded in just one take those who are addicted to rush can notice some "mistakes" in relation to the studio version. Xanadu and the trees are also performed live. Closer t.t. heart and farewell to kings are not.
Alex wrote this when he was EIGHTEEN years old..... Another song you should check out is "The Garden" its the distillation of everything they have learned in their 40+ year careers
To your request for confirmation as to if this was recorded live... The leads and the fills are obviously different than the studio version. Comnpare section by section and you will see. Glad for you yo discover my favorite band since I heard 2112 in high school in 1978.
Rush are still crushing it 50 years into! please do 2112 there is a comic strip video which portrays the song and uses the lyrics well. It is a glorious feast of sound. Also Spirit of Radio is perfection. I look forward to your reaction xx
Tim I'd really like you to do "The Spirit of Radio" and "Red Barchetta" next. They are shorter songs, but both are excellent. By the way just discovered and subbed to your channel. One other request, you need to get Kim in more videos. She reminds me of a girlfriend I had years ago and she's totally cute! LOL. Love your channel!
Yes 2112 is another master piece and if im not mistaken it is 21:12 long. Again the other power trio from canada is Triumph. These two bands had great respect for one other and loved each others songs. Any song you pick from Triumph you will not be disappointed
Just catching up with you here again on this video while driving around for work. I listen to reaction videos all day. You have great personality and are sincere. I would still suggest that you take a look at the “The necromancer” and “Cygnus X1”. Workingman is great and so is limelight, but if you want to hear epic Rush you have to listen to Cygnus x1 and the necromancer trust me on this
In my opinion, just listen to every studio album through power windows. They really start kicking ass on 2112. They are in their prime until power windows. Then there are still awesome songs after that. But get your mind blown by those albums and you are set. Then sample bits afterwards. Like Presto. Totally different but feel good regardless.
If you really want to be impressed by a man who could play ANYTHING with strings, look up Roy Clark - Malaguena (The Odd Couple). Roy Clark was musical legend revered and respected by all musicians. He was country musics Eddie Van Halen.
Yes it is very entertaining to see musicians hearing Rush for the first time and are completely blown away and left for the most part, speechless. It is funny because I own several boots that are soundboard from Hemispheres Tour and all of them are better versions of this song than this version. The LA VILLA version from Frankfurt May 1979 is the single best performance by any band live anywhere at any time. lol. Please all of you listen to it.......they are at the very end of that tour and have absolutely mastered this song. Listening to earlier shows on the same tour in November and December of 1978 they always sound great, but struggle through it a bit more. By the end of the tour they are just raging. They kill the whole show.....and tour. They are untouchable. No one comes close to sheer musicianship, tightness and multi tasking in a group setting. NO ONE. Especially live.
For something a little different, check out Moriah Formica. She's 19 and been compared to Ann Wilson/:zzy Hale/amy Lee. She has some banging originals and plays guitar, bass, wrote drum parts and sings on her song Champion. She's also recorded with Michael Sweet (Stryper) and he plays guitar on her song Bring It On. Her newest release is called Better Off Alone.
Do a cold reaction to ELP (Emerson, Lake and Palmer) “Toccata” from the Brain Salad Surgery album. I “discovered” RUSH early (age 13ish) but around the age of 19 I made another fertile discovery - ELP. Saw them in concert in Feb. of ‘93... AWESOME!!!

Most people listened to a friend's copy of the album because it's the kind of thing that you want to share with a friend, like recommending a book that changed your life and you can't wait to see whether you friend is similarly moved.
@@kylelooper2156 104.5 CHUM FM back in the '70's played entire albums after midnight. 😎👍
Back then, it was either eat during Neil's solo or eat in the car on the way to the next gig. They were nonstop touring.
Like others have said, I say listen to studio first. That's the vision they had for the song. Then you hear the live and see how well they nailed it.
One of their most amazing traits is the ability to they have to have multiple time changes that gives the music feeling. They are 3 virtuosos.
"Leave that Thing Alone" live in Cleveland
Nice to see someone who can appreciate Rush. As a music encyclopedia calls them, “the smart man’s rock band”.
HEADLONG FLIGHT!! Clockwork Angels Tour Live- 🙏🏻
Watching their “Live in Cleveland “ rendition back to back so you can compare their earliest reiteration of that masterpiece to one of their latest performances. Doesn’t just hold up, their showmanship is spot on!
It's absolutely true that they were playing La Villa live in that video. The original is on the Hemispheres album.
I love how you are discovering Rush. Red Barchetta and Distant Early Warning are personal favorites of mine. DEW is very chiiling and emotional.
Yes, that is a live recording, the studio version is better IMO. Alex’s first solo is sublime. Check out Cygnus X-1!
It’s never too late to listen to more Rush.
I was blessed to see them live 33 times..simply a three man all-star band...the best ever
i was a late bloomer to rush. im 51 now but git into them in the Late 80's after i heard presto. master musicians.
Spirit of the radio
I'm lucky growing up listening to Rush almost every night in the 70s and 80s.
Undoubtedly been said below, but you gotta hear La Villa on "Exit... Stage Left." That's the gold standard. It's life changing.
Yes the performance was actually filmed live but there was no audience. So yes, it was a live performance.
All supremely talented, not forgetting the beautiful lyrics of Neil Peart RIP.
also, Alex was playing synth pedals through much of La Villa...
Alex and Geddy both played synth pedals on stage. Crazy.
Great job, loved your reaction and commentary :)
Tom Sawyer is one of the favorite Rush songs cited by numerous musicians...
I can say that this is being done live. I know their songs and sound inside out and there is no doubt.
Rush are the greatest band, awesome musicians been a fan all my life, cheers
I believe your reactions are genuine. Rush has a huge catalogue of music. I've not heard every rush song and I've been a fan for 30 years. In the 30 yrs my tastes zigged and zagged. That's life.
NOW, you need to experience "Natural Science" off the Permanent Waves album..."Jacob's Ladder" too
Cheers!
Im a 46 year old Hardcore Punk Bored by Punk i got Back to thrash, tech death, prog and classic Rock... and i play bass... i got i to rush 2 years ago, always knowing the Band by Name, but never heard em... knew geddy because of les claypool
Now they are my favorite out of the 70s
Nuff said
Check out Zeppelin's 10 Years Gone
Just check out Zeppelin........
@@angrylittlespider_9701basically lol.
Absolutely all "Live" on this video. AMAZING!
Huge Rush fan! Found them in middle school in about 1980 with Spirit of the Radio, then worked backwards. My kids are 30 & 25. They know very little Rush music (maybe 2112). They got Iron Maiden and my 90's music like Alice in Chains and Sound Garden.
Try "time stand still"... one of my favs.
I don’t know anything about the recording of the video but I have seen them twice and there was nothing better on the recording than they did live. Wouldn’t doubt it at all.
Watch the version of LVS on the documentary Beyond the Lighted Stage. Complete live recording start to finish. My favorite version!
There are great bands, then there's Rush. They've always been on a different level; 40+ years of masterful, mind blowing music.
Love your reactions to Rush and your comments . U got a new subscriber too.
You said that you had wish you had listen to more RUSH back in the day !!! It's never too late. My kid is 16 years old and has heard every single album and Loves them all !
R40's Jacobs Ladder should be your next video, just so you can see what are the best 60+ year old professional musicians are like !
Love your experience of your music tastes, enjoyment & learning widening out & expanding. It's such a fun journey that never ends! Keep rockin' 🤘
it was done live!!! their just that great!!!
Which member of Rush continued to lead the band and change his style throughout their washing machine cycles of music? Pure Genius Period
All sounds and noises heard come from the three masters
The studio version is on hemispheres and starts with acoustic guitar
Yeah, it's live. From a pre show soundcheck...
Okay now see and hear the progression of Rush and check out leave that thing alone from live in Cleveland
By-Tor And The Snow Dog. Particularly the live version on All The World's A Stage. Can't miss that one.
After 12 days of trying to record straight through in one recording they put it together in 3 separate parts
Great review, please continue, especially with Rush.
Moving Pictures has a LOT of hidden gems, so does Permanent Waves, Signals brings in more keyboard and that sticks around a few years, this I know seeing them live every year through 2004
Rush - Subdivisions
Yes... they recorded this live in one take
Yeah it was live.
Yes you are correct
Jacob's ladder... A different type of song but is it ever brilliant!!!! Check it out. Might want to check out Analog Kid for a fun solo!!
Outro solo from camera eye too!
Need to check out Natural Science from Permanent Waves! Song has so many changes in it, it will rock your socks off
Jacob's Ladder and The Camera Eye have my votes. Studio version of course. As a fellow musician (drummer) you're always better off hearing the studio release before taking it live. This way gives you some insight as to any changes that might have been made to the track What I love about studio recording back in the day is the song was always played live in the studio.
it's a live performance, recorded in just one take
those who are addicted to rush can notice some "mistakes" in relation to the studio version.
You should definitely check out the live version of this song Live in Cleveland 2011.
Check out the live version of Freewill on their earlier live album; Exit Stage Left. The middle solo section is as rock n roll as rock n roll can get.
He needs to listen to Natural Science or Jacob's Ladder......or Subdivisions or or or or or or or
For something a little different, check out Moriah Formica.
Listen to Mission live, incredible musicianship throughout and wonderful vocals.
Do a cold reaction to ELP (Emerson, Lake and Palmer) “Toccata” from the Brain Salad Surgery album. I “discovered” RUSH early (age 13ish) but around the age of 19 I made another fertile discovery - ELP. Saw them in concert in Feb. of ‘93... AWESOME!!!
