    When using your brush, make x or cross hatch strokes. You will know the finish is perfect, if the walls feel like suede. Make sure that your paint helpers all use the same painting technique that you use. It makes a big difference when the light bounces off the walls. Don’t feel overwhelmed. It’s a learning curve. You have got this. Take your time and conserve your cash. Your first instinct is always spot on, so don’t overthink a project and you won’t overspend.

      Agree. Best advice I was ever given about painting, from a pro painter, was to invest in cloth drop cloths. They don't just save your floors from wet paint, but dry paint too. The dried splotches can get stamped back onto your floor off plastic cloths but that doesn't happen with cloth.

    I actually enjoyed the video and watching you go through your process. I've done a lime wash before but I never was so technical with the color. I didn't know you could do 75% or 50% of a color.
    Congrats on the magazine!! Your layout looks fantastic! 👏💜💛💚

    Ahhh same thing happened to me with the white limewash! I was really feeling the texture and then it dried and it was gone. I used Color Atelier paint and they recommended layering two colors for more depth: a darker one as a base and a lighter one on top. It really helped to keep the texture, while keeping the shade white like I wanted!

    I had my walls textured and then painted over them with a BM flat paint. The texture is subtle, but definitely adds dimension to the room. That NKA for taking us on your home remodeling and decorating journey. You can never go wrong with an historic home.

    the magazine layout was perfectly photographed and brought out the absolute best in terms of color. In other words, everything worked beautifully together from the white walls to black window frames to browns and rusts in the rugs, etc. It is warm and inviting. I am so inspired by it that I plan to buy the mag and use it as reference when I do over my dated condo.

    I actually did notice that "lighter" after the 75% -- and thought hm, I've *never* seen a %paint phrased that way, always as a percentage of the whole, so 75% would be exactly what you thought. You were totally right to have expected that, given the norms of paint mixing.

    • @stuperduper_8782

    • @ericanichole1927
      @ericanichole1927 2 роки тому +5

      I work in paint and when someone says 75% it’s usual referring to lighter or darker, so the paint person did what they said if he just said 75% he should have just said 25% lighter and would have gotten what he wanted the “75%” to a paint person he just said it backwards

    • @mamacat321
      @mamacat321 2 роки тому +2

      @@ericanichole1927 That's so strange -- I've always asked for it in terms of a percentage of the formula, so 75% would mean 75% of the regular formula, not 75% lighter!

    Mica is the name of the mineral used for the lampshade. Why not just find a nice creamy off-white and sea sponge it on if you're going for texture, or thin out joint compound and splotch it on the wall, that will give you texture! Great getting the rooms from your former apartment in a BHG special magazine. I have some of their magazines from years ago, I hold on to them forever because the style of the rooms they pick to put in their special magazines are timeless style-wise.

    Yes, congrats on the magazine spot! well done you :). I use an old 'plant stand' to put a container of paint on it..So it is easy just to bend down, and dip your paintbrush in...when painting walls. You must also place a plastic drop sheet if a little accident happens. The plant stands are about 80yrs old...but you can find them in Op shops..or..garage sales.

I am now obsessed with your UA-cam channel. You have such high energy. Engaging personality and so enthusiastic about your home makeovers and design passions. I'm not as familiar with instagram so i'm trying to learn how to navigate. PS Just in case you want to know your audience demographics (I'm in my early 70's.

      I did read an article by a designer this week against limewash, although it then showed limewash well done and said it was fine, but I do think you will find it offers a combined Spanish and modern vibe that is timeless like old world plaster.

Only painted room is bathroom and the cabinets in the kitchen need more paint. Easy peasy for an older person with bad shoulders. Love your videos. You have an amazing imagination.

    Lone Fox we all love you and hugely surprised at the end results with your beautiful creativity. Have patience, narrow your focus, and do one room at a time. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. Above all else, be grateful to the universe, make time for yourself by eating healthy and good sleep, and enjoy time away from the house for you, family, and friends. Again, have patience.
