    17:00 It's highly likely the Flood only does this during the feral or proto-Gravemind stages. Once A Gravemind is formed the Flood gains access to the collective knowledge of everything ever experienced by a Flood form or an infected. So by the time the Gravemind is functional, they don't need to sort through your gray matter for individual memories. Instead, they simply subsume your being like normal, and instantly know everything.

    Good news: you know where the flood/precursors come from, bad news: the *universe itself* considers you, your society culture & history food.

      Less 'food' and more like an interesting book to read. The bad news is the Precursors 'read' by eating.

    That Precursors let Forerunners killl them might not make sense, but if you think about it from their perspective, it really does. Death to Precursers is a completely different beast to them, and in fact a necessary part of life. They in fact "get better" like it's just chlamydia or something. Sure, a forerunner might rip out their spine but they'll just learn from the experience, hit the snooze button, and wake up in a decade.
    These beings are more like gods than they are people. Death is at best an inconvenience.

      Exactly, he’s looking at that from a mortal perspective when the Precursors are anything but mortal.

      @@Azorees-oj5zr Absolutely. Along with the fact that they can simply reincarnate themselves. Like the Gravemind clearly does. despite being destroyed with the halo rings firing, but reforming after. He remembers everything that happened. His knowledge never got destroyed, even when his physical body was turned to dust.
      Their minds are beyond the physical world. And that's what make them so powerful.

    Installation00 is a great source of halo lore and does a lot of extreme detailed breakdowns of even the machines and weapons in Halo including spartan armors and etc to the point that it makes it seem like all this is possible to be made today, in fact Installation00 is currently working on making a real titanium working spartan suit and so far has the helmet fully operational. He also does scientific breakdowns as well describing specific forging techniques in the modern day as well as various other things. Very informative

    Another thing to note is that "precursor" is a descriptor name to their species as well "pre" meaning "before" and "cursor" meaning "point" and they were described to have been hyper advanced BEFORE the universe began as a whole, and that they surround themselves in "multiversal fillament" or "multiversal residue" when they travel between dimensions, meaning they could possibly have gone to, or created, other universes concepts or life within those universes. They're also said to be the only ones able to survive the 11th dimensional existence of slipspace without any needed protection as it were their natural environment, everything else would be torn apart and their souls destroyed. It's a dangerous race with very many possibilities which would be endless in one of the books the primordial mentioned that the precursors used a creation ability they call "unreality" which basically allows them to manipulate the universe at will and or create things from seemingly nothing

    Glad to see you reacting to Halo again, if I can make a recommendation Pancreas no Work made a lore video on the Fall of Reach that is really good.
    As for this video, the more we learn about the Precursor's the more I think of them as the Chaos Gods from 40k except more insidious because at least with the Chaos Gods one can argue they're just following their nature. With the Precursor's it feels more like a plan they've carried out over and over again. The scary part is the little we have learned about them just creates more questions than ones we get answered.

      @dj11o9er9 I wouldn't know, as I have no idea who the Xel'Naga are, the Ruinous Powers seemed more apt to me because both are tied to reality in such a way you can't get rid of them without destroying everything.

    I think it's alright to judge this as a evil wicked act then of the Precursors and the Living Universe done in the name of selfish philosophy of indifference and twisted motivation. It's so insidious and ruthlessly cruel plan even the Chaos gods would be exceedingly impressed by the scope and fundamental nature of this grim darkness and it's potency.

    This is a scary theory

  • @johnvucich
    @johnvucich 3 місяці тому +2

    I think in Book 3 of the forerunner trilogy that the didactic learned this theorized truth from the Gravemind. This caused him to compose humans to create the prometheans army to wipe out all traces of the flood. It would serve a double purpose eradicating humanity for having been responsible for the death of his children.

    As they weren't a hivemind, I can only assume that there actually were some benevolent Precursors out there, maybe the Graveboi and his mates were just some of the more grim ones.
    At least I hope that's the case.

    I love Halo, so I'm happy to see you react to it. This Theory is solid, but, there's a lot of evidence that actually paints a far more sinister picture. The actual Forerunner-Precursor war was a lot more questionable. In reality it was a Genocidal war. The Precursors determined Humanity to be their successors to the mantle, and slated the forerunners for termination. The Forerunners found out, and said, they can't kill us, if we kill them first.
    Now, when you consider this, suddenly the Gravemind/Primordial as a source doesn't seem so questionable, imo, it actually makes the Forerunners' version of events more suspect, because History is written by the victor. Now, the Gravemind will tell you the purpose of the Flood is to Ensure that Precursors are never again threatened by their creations, and when your military is an actual eldritch abomination, that checks out.
    The second purpose of the Flood was to get revenge on the Forerunners. In fact, the Gravemind reveals that his goal wasn't just extinction. He baited the Forerunners into firing the halo array on purpose. The Forerunners used a Precursor technology as basically the galactic internet. The problem being, is that precursor technology is very vulnerable to a Halo firing. The Forerunners were unaware that their galactic internet was precursor technology and did not realize it until the Gravemind himself pointed out that not only would their species die in the firing of the Halo Array, but most of their cultural records would also go too. He didn't just wipe them out, he did his best to wipe out all traces of their existence.
    Lastly, The Primordial also stated that in 100,000 years the flood would test Humanity, to see if Humanity is worthy of the Mantle of Responsibility. Mind you, this statement was made something like 98,000 B.C. So, it's also implied that the games happen at the end of that 100,000 year period.

    This brings into question what the covenant are. Yes, the prophets misread the term reclaimer as reclamation. But if the flood is a manifestation of the living universe, then wouldn't the fire of the Halo array be effectively the reaping of the experience of the universe? "The Great Journey" would effectively be the assimilation of life into the domain.

    I’ve been thinking of this for years now. It only makes more sense the more you think on it. Now do you reject the Precursors, and condemn the cycle to inevitable entropy and death, or do you accept this form of existence and submit yourself to lose all individuality and hope for better?

  • @Shalltear773
    @Shalltear773 3 місяці тому

    if all of this is true then the Halo universe is more properly fucked than I thought it would be. but it would also open up a new avenue of adventure for our Halo characters to embark on by somehow discovering this truth and trying to find a way to deal with this species. now obviously the humans, etc won't really be able to put the Precursors down for good since the Forerunners had obviously failed but a race with the sort of philosophy and horrific process as the Precursors would surely have made some powerful enemies in the past.
