Winner of a video, I have been researching "how to hold a golf club left handed" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Reyuhaffad Underlying Recognition - (do a search on google ) ? It is a great exclusive product for discovering how to revealing an effortless golf swing technique minus the hard work. Ive heard some super things about it and my friend got excellent success with it.
LOVE your specifics on striking the ball! I've always been told to hit the ball before the ground, but NEVER told about the sweet spot and HOW to make the club strike the ball at that point! This has CHANGED my LIFE! (OK, obviously over stated, but NOT by much!)
I've been having the hardest time understanding the feel of hitting down on the ball. My game has definitely improved since starting out, but just still haven't had that one sweet shot yet. This is by far the best explanation vid i've seen so far, so hyped to practice this!!! Thank you!!!
Hi Adam - Just wanted to thank you for taking the time and giving back to the game to help amateur golfers. The biggest lesson you add in all your clips is to show players how to fully enjoy the game while inadvertently improving the pace of play which I feel has negatively impacted the popularity of the sport lately. All the best to you and keep up the great work.
Hi Adam - I found your explanation on how to hit the ball higher up the face towareds the sweet spot by leaning the club-shaft forward most enlightening. Recently I had been under the misconception that the Professionals must be hitting the ball thinner than most club golfers, in order to take the divot well after the ball has been struck. Thanks for the insight
Wow. Thanks for all the insights. I've been having problems with my irons for over a year after I saw a chiropractor. I lost twenty yards on all my iron's. I will put these tips into practice and let you know what happens.
this is so very true about the wrist position at impact, at least for me it is. it has completely changed my game. very good advice...thx for the videos
Thanks. With less lofted fairway woods play the ball a little farther forward. I have several fairway woods and hybrid videos at this channel you might like. Best, Adam
I went from shooting high 80's consistently to my last 5 rounds being in the 70's with my lowest round ever recorded 1 over from the tips on a par 71 (3 bird, 4 bogeys). Thanks Adam "Bazel Get Em'"! I had to neglect a few responsibilities like folding clothes.. making my bed like I use to, hanging out with friends, skipping lunch breaks to go to the range but it was all worth it lol
Wow, that's brilliant, I play golf here in Ireland and my best round in 35 yrs is +8 which was 78 at my course, I've never beaten that and I'm 52 now , I must try this left wrist in the cocked down position
Thanks Barrie. I'm afraid it's hard to say without seeing you swing, but my guess is that you're rolling the face closed through impact. Hope this helps. Best, Adam
thank you i only just discoverd this channle after trying to find some better quality golf videos. i was only good at hitting my driver and 3 woods befor and this has helped me gain so much distance and accruacy with my irons :D
Hi Adam, please correct me if I'm wrong. With full iron shot, there will be more shaft lean. With short pitch shots, there will be less to make full use of the bounce.
Adam, this move is a little trickier than it first appears when one has gotten used to an early release etc... I know I can compress a wedge or a 9 iron easily, but not so easy when the irons get to a 6 etc... Do you recommend a more open hip move perhaps, or just a matter of following the drill as you have it? Thanks if you're still following this thread and post. BTW, excellent lesson/vid...a clear example of perhaps the #1 goal in iron striking.
Various players use their hips differently to accomplish a good iron impact. I'd recommend lots of little punch shots to work out the best feel for yourself. Hope this helps. Best, Adam
I find that when I slow my swing slightly and stare (concentrate) at my strike point on the ball that I get better strikes. One of my problems may now be that I was not delofting the club properly. I know I was not getting proper height with the 7, 6, and 5 irons. Couldn't figure out why until now. Do you agree? Thanks
Thanks Arturo, I'd say try both and see what works for you. Ideally you wouldn;t need to play the ball back if you can lag the club well. Hope this helps. Best, Adam
+Jose Moreno Jose, Thanks for your interest in the videos. It's not uncommon to turn the club face left when you de-loft the left wrist. I suggest hitting some 50 yard type punch shots with a 6 iron to work on it. Sometimes golfers come over the top as they turn left wrist down (turn chest and shoulders down as they turn left wrist). If divots show this is happening work on hitting more from inside. If it's more hook that pull hold club horizontal up in front of chest and practice de-lofting club without also turning leading edge left, it's just a subtle feel difference. Then try to do it on the 50 yarder. Best of luck, Adam
Does the amount of forward shaft lean at address vary ? For instance could you comment on a 9 iron and a 4 iron off a tee. Would the more central ball position for a 9 iron mean more lean....I tend to pull a shorter iron right, and push a longer iron left..( I'm left handed )
Steven, Thanks for the question. I don't think shaft lean at address matters much. So much can, and does, change from set-up to impact to affect it, so I like a fairly neutral look at impact. Ball position would matter though, and having it a bit more back on a short iron is fine if it helps your shot direction. All the best, Adam
Well, I'd say two things to bear in mind. I think that if you look at most Tour players at impact with an iron shot most of their body is in front of the ball, head and right shoulder area behind ball. Also, lag (maintaining some wrist cock) approaching impact helps to avoid hitting behind the ball. Hope this helps. Best, Adam
Why are we taught to set up with our driver the same way we will be when we impact the ball but for irons are hands are even with the club head at set-up and then way in front at impact ? Wouldn't it be easier to set-up with hands in front of ball like when we impact it ?
John, It’s a good question.....but I don’t think that’s what we are really taught. In the case of both iron and driver the impact position is much different (with an elite player) than the set up. For one (as viewed down target line) the body, especially hips, are much more engaged and open to target than at address. Also the shaft is more forward (or in line with the lead arm) at impact with both driver and irons. However, with the driver the upper body would be farther behind ball at impact (many great players even ‘spring’ up and away from target a bit with driver), so that the shaft is roughly vertical, even though it’s in line with the left (lead) arm. I hope this helps a bit. All the best, Adam
Thanks for the fast reply. But I was talking about hands and head of club only. With driver looking from directly across the player the hands and head of club are pretty much even. But with iron set up the hand and head of club are even but when impacting properly hands are way in front. My friend sets up irons with hands way in front like they will be at impact and he hits the ball a ton. So I am just a little confused. And your vids are great, watch them all the time. Thanks !
John, I was referring to that. Club more or less in line with lead arm at impact with both driver and irons. Reason it looks (and is) so much farther forward with irons and driver is body position (both address and impact, referenced in above answer). I would not recommend setting with hands well forward at address on irons, it doesn't at all guarantee they will be there at impact, and causes other problems. Best, Adam

Not unusual for a beginner. I have a couple of 'beginner' videos at the channel.I hope you'll find them helpful.

@@Scratchgolfacademy thank you I did find them and found them not having the ball centered and also leaning to far back seem to be my issue
Why are we taught to set up with our driver the same way we will be when we impact the ball but for irons are hands are even with the club head at set-up and then way in front at impact ? Wouldn't it be easier to set-up with hands in front of ball like when we impact it ?

I would not recommend setting with hands well forward at address on irons, it doesn't at all guarantee they will be there at impact, and causes other problems.

Ok, I understand now, thank you so much for the help !!
How about hybrids?
It's more or less the same. The more lofted the hybrid the more shaft lean (downward hit) you need at impact. Hope this helps a bit.
