A "beginner's guide" about the Santee lakes would be awesome. The fishing out there is phenomenal, but so are the boating hazards. How would someone new to the lakes navigate safely? That kinda stuff 👌

A majority of my fish have been coming on single trees. Using a Texas rigged worm. Black/blue. Black/red. Pretty much any dark color due to the muddy water. Beem having a few on a white/chartreuse double Colorado blade spinner bait slow rolled around trees. Jerkbait would also work. With the weather up and down it's kinda hard to pattern them. I wouldn't rule out wacky rig either.
Great place to fish! Yep canal lakes is a great place to stay. Awesome restaurant as well. Blacks camp and hills landing are some other good ones as well. And allow easy access to the canal
