That’s my home lake although I don’t live in SC anymore. Grew up fishing the upper end mostly near Low Falls, Stump Hole and Sparkleberry swamp. Keep ur boat in the channel markers for sure on the upper lake. Lower lake is stumpy but near shore mostly. I ran all over that lake no problem but near the shore watch out.
Grae , the lake looks like chocolate milk now, both lakes and the river. If I could send a picture of the color around spires landing with a cypress tree ringed bi ice from our January club tournament. Fishing on lake was terrible that day.
I'm originally from southwest Ohio, I moved down to southern SC 2 years ago. Bass fishing has been great for me down here in the kayak. My PB largmouth before moving was only 4.8lbs from my whole life. My first year down here I caught a 7.8 then this year I've really started figuring these fisheries out. I've caught more 4-5lb largmouth than I can count!? My 5 biggest largmouth this year is 7.4 - 8.05 - 8.6 - 9.3 & my newest PB an 11lb 4oz! I've also lost 2 big ones recently which still stings! Lost an 8+ & another 9-10 pounder right next to the kayak. Ouch!!!!! I don't fish kayak tournaments. I prefer to find my own hard to get spots & get away from civilization when possible. Try not to draw any attention to myself so I don't blow up honey holes. Biggest largmouth I've ever seen is a guy caught a 13lb last year off the bank with a cheap zebco push button. He was using bobber & crickets.... Santee Cooper is awesome & lake Murray. Good luck, watch out for the gators. Probably not an issue in a bass boat but in the kayak they make me a little wary
Those weren't stumps along the channel crossing, those were standing trees.! First time i went to Santee i didn't know about the channel crossing and i just took off across the lake. Started seeing "stumps" everywhere and stopped. I was sitting in 26' of water. lol took me almost 30 minutes to troll back to the bank.
Tks for the vid, Grae. I’m about 2 hours from you in Hanover PA. I’ll be down there Thur-Sun. I’ll be looking for you to say HI!
Enjoying these. Good luck on the up coming season.
Glad to hear it. Thought it was a little something different than most guys do. I'll have one more from Toledo bend coming up on mid December. Thanks!

It's a cool lake, can't wait to fish it!

ohh jeez. going to be interesting when we get back down there next week
They usually drop the lake about 4 feet Dec thru Jan. The grass in less than 4 ft dies off with a good freeze.
Do they spray the grass still ?
Interesting. Well hopefully the deep stuff I found sticks around

Wow that's a heck of a year! Congrats and hope you keep catching big ones!
Thanks! What mapping card is that? Does it only work with the pro?
