Even if you fix the problem, i think characters should stop looking at Ayano after a specify amount of time, lets say 5 seconds, because if they will just stare at protagonist it startst to fell weird and creepy. Also, if character is texting then its unnatural for them to just stop to look at a person passing by
I think the game should be creepy. It's a dark game, after all, where you play psycho-killer who stops at nothing to have her Senpai. Having school students creepily stare at you for no reason, just because you are there, adds to the vibe of the game. Therefore, this creepy element should stay.
Not a programmer but I'm happy to give a suggestion. For anyone who's texting or using a book, or when they're sitting down for class, I think it would be better for only their eyes to kinda glance over if you're next to them. Maybe this could change for different characters too, like, what if popular characters straight up ignored you if you aren't high enough on the popularity meter, kind of like how the bullies dialogue changes depending on your popularity rating. I know this would probably take a while to add but I think these are the small touches in a game that makes it feel more realistic. Like, if I'm texting on a phone, I'm not gonna put all of my attention onto a person that's right next to me. And also, you could possibly have it to where after a while they stop looking at you if you're around for a certain amount of time, because they lost interest in you
Yeah/ and the people who stop putting interest in you will only regain interest if you do something bad or suspicious like take out a knife or kill someone with anything. I also thing other students should be able to give attention or not give attention to other students too (in the future), it’ll make the game feel even more alive!
Yes! Because if multiple characters are turning their heads to look at you all at once, it turns into more of a creepy affect rather than a "lively addition" especially if the characters are staring for more than a minute, it just turns into a awkward situation where they are staring at you without purpose.
When I'm on my phone I kinda look up so that I don't walk into a pole (that's happened before) or a wall and I notice the people around me and look around for a little bit every like 30 seconds so maybe that could work too.
What about characters that don't like eye contact? People like Horuda? Maybe she'll glance a little bit in your direction while she's performing a certain action but look scared. That will make it more realistic :))
This is proof that little details really make a huge different. With this feature alone the characters already look so much more livelier. I hope you will receive the help you need real soon. I saw someone said that characters should stop looking at the protagonist after a certain amount of time and I agree. That's my only criticism about this feature. I wish you the best of luck!
Character should look at you based on affinity, character that dislike look away, character who don't care stay neutral, character who like you or are suspicious look at you, character who loves you look at you but also turn their torso toward you and have different facial expressions, people who despise you turn their torso away, look away and have the annoyed face expression. Different personalities should have different turn intensity and triggering distance, some just turn their gaze, not the head, some look at you at a distance but become shy when you get close and look away. Etc...
Not necessarily if Ayano arrives next to her classmate and her classmate isn't doing anything, it's normal for her to notice her presence for example But yea for the rest it would be a good Idea
it would be really cool to see students who are both friends wave and smile at when they walk past each other in the hallway! or someone friends with the player smile and wave and say something! you expressed expressions and emotions for animations is a priority for them, i think also having emotions through their actions would definitely help make them feel more alive
This little feature DEF makes the characters feel more alive! Them aklowledging Ayano's presence is great, however, instead of them just looking at her the entire time she's there, maybe they could look for about 3-5 seconds (or just a short time) then they're head can go back to whatever it was doing.
I was about to suggest that. Just like for an animated GIF which loops with a brutal cut, you can put certain animations in "ping pong" mode, that will make the animation go reverse, and then back forward and so on. That might work with most idle stances, but not all animations, though.
The duration of the “looks” should definitely be reduced because it’s just weird if you have a npc staring at you. Hopefully that will solve the issue.
This is actually a really good feature! I also wish the students also react to other students when passing by. Also when someone stares at you while reading or texting is kinda strange.
I think that certain animations should affect the amount of attention the give you: Standing in one spot - full head turn (within realistic angles) and possibly even some chest turn (within realistic angles) On phone or in book - no turning of any body part at all (not even eyes) Walking - eyes turn but not any other body part Sitting - head and eyes turn Exercising - eyes turn Swimming - no turn Eating - eyes turn Taking food - eyes turn All of these movements would have a 4 second duration before they lose interest
OH MY GOD YES! I'M VERY HAPPY THAT YOU'RE CONSIDERING ADDING FEATURES THAT MAKE THE GAME LOOK MORE ALIVE. Please don't give up on this feature and the balloon texts, it would be amazing to be able to walk by a character that you are friends with and the student looks at the protagonist and says hi. Iwould melt in happiness lol
Maybe the texting characters should have an animation where they just lower their phones and just hold it while looking at the player. It looks strange having them text without looking at their phones, and I think that would make it look more natural as well
@@Hi-Tech-Sonic or maybe the people on their phones, or just generally focused on another task doesn't look at the player. it makes it more normal; they'd be more engrossed in what they're doing rather than look at the player, which also makes it easier to code
Here are some ideas I think could be interesting depending on the student/situation: -If a student is texting, reading, gaming, training, cleaning, anything that requires full attention, only their eyes would follow the player - this way the animation glitches might be easier to avoid. -Students with the “social butterfly” persona could turn and offer a little wave as the player passes by (they’d only wave once, so it wouldn’t look awkward if the player stood next to them) -The bullies would only pay attention to the player if your reputation was high enough -NPCs would look away after a few seconds, except for the delinquents, who could keep glaring at you, as an attempt to intimidate the player -Student council members and staff might only move their eyes, (except Akane) and maybe would react to the character from farther away as they’re more cautious -At low atmosphere, NPCs would not stop staring at Ayano until she walked away -Horuda and students with the Coward persona would only follow the player with their eyes -NPCs would not react to the player when reacting to a weapon, blood, or body I’m not a programmer, so I can’t be sure how hard it would be to implement these, I just think it would be cool.
If you get the bug fixed I have an idea for the head turns, if the person is your friend they should smile at you, if they’re suspicious glare at you, if they just don’t plan like you, if that’s even a thing I don’t remember, have them give a very dirty and suspicious look or something. Just different facial expressions for different types of personalities and how friendly they are with YanChan or depending on her reputation too
Ya know this feature would be really interesting if you can manage to make it work, because then it makes me wonder the possibility of your friendship towarda a character would affect their head turning (I know that was confusing but let me give an example) If you befriend midori, then walk up to her and she turns her head maybe she would smile and look less bored than if she just didnt know who you are, the same thing for if you kill someone infront of a student and they know that you are a killer, and maybe based off persona they would look at you differently
The idea looks very cool and makes the characters feel more alive, but there's something that I think it should be changed. If the player stands still next to a character for half an hour, the character looking at the player for 30 minutes would be a bit weird. That's why I think that the characters should look at the player for like 1 or 2 seconds. It will show that they have noticed the player's presence, but wouldn't stare at them for a long time. Also, if the player goes through a hall with 10 students, 10 students turning their heads to just look at the player looks a bit unnatural. I think that just two or three should look at the player when passing by. Either way, I love the idea and I would love to see it in the game! ❤
I can give you some suggest! (Programing Part [Not a programer] ) Maybe you can separate the model between the head and the body, and when the player near by the animation will change to normal idle blinking but still doing the same animation secretly and then when the player is not near NPCs anymore the npc will just go back to the same animation that they use to have. I'm not really sure that's it gonna fix the problem or not. (Qualities Part) But I have another suggestion, that will make the students feel more alive and realistic. If some people will gonna notice player all the time it will be strange. So I really want you to add a delay (for maybe 5 sec) before the npc will gonna move their head to player. and If the NPCs are stand still and player also stand still, and the NPC are staring for to long, the NPCs will gonna stop notice Ayano, and will gonna damage Ayano's Reputation. Also the NPC might gonna ignore you if they are in event or cutscenes or they been interacted by something like phone, drinking fountains etc.
If you'll implement that feature and students won't stare at Ayano (Ryoba) all the time, like a lot of people already said, you should make people, who know that Ayano is a killer, to keep stare at you while you're around. Because they know that they aren't safe around you and want to keep their eyes on you.
Hey Yanderedev, I wanted to ask if the crowdfunding campaign succeeds, will you add new animations and voiced lines to 1980’s mode? (Also, if the crowdfunding campaign succeeds, will you add new wallpapers and flooring in 1980’s mode because the modern day school and the 1989 school looks almost identical to eachother?)
I love how you always pay so much attention to small but important details like this. Even from this small preview I can see a big difference. Edit: I also wanted to ask, are the letters on the buttons always blurry on low settings or is it just my problem? Because the game runs really slow on higher settings, but it's kinda hard to play, especially during fights
Aww midori looks upset. Also going off what other people are saying, not only do I think people should look away after a while but I also think anyone doing an animation like looking at their phone, reading a book or cooking shouldn't look and yandere chan since their attention is somewhere else at the moment. Plus I think it would be super creepy if a bunch of students are walking past you and they all turn to look at you until they're out of range.
That's what I was thinking, I played another yandere game where students look at you and there are background noises (talking, footsteps of student, etc) and it felt so alive.
I think it's a good idea to give players the opportunity to choose the presence of this bonus. I watched this video, and it seems to me that it would be very cool if these characters did not constantly look at the yandere, but for example, periodically looked, well not the same, of course, but depending on their personality. Also for example, if the character was in the company or was busy with something, it is unlikely that he would pay the same attention to the yandere, it was cool if they periodically just looked at her by moving eyes and that’s it. Good luck with development!
I am not a programmer, but I will leave my suggestion you could make the characters who carry a book or a cell phone after 10 seconds stop looking at you and park a message at the top that says something like "midori I ignore you" or something similar I hope this helps you
I think this feature would make the game feel more realistic because in real life if someone walks by you or sits next to you youll look or glance at them, so this idea is a very good one! I wish you well on making it work out and finding other people who have the experience you need for it to function the way you want :)
not a programmer but an editor who has experience with keyframes and keyframe glitches. what i do is i set the first keyframe to the default values, then go to the end of the animation and set the keyframe i want to end it at, adjust it a bit, dont add keyframes yet, and when it's to your liking, add all the keyframes in between to avoid the glitch problem. you probs alr tried this but i just want to make sure yk
Imagine the longer they look at you, the more annoyed and confused they get and will walk away to get in a different spot. If you still continue to annoy them, they will run to their classroom and sit in the chair waiting for the class to start, and yet if you still continue-continue this move they will be scared at you like your a stalker or something 😂
Hmmm... They could lower your ratings or something. Oh and if you kept doing it for 3 days they will really think your a real stalker and try to avoid you as much as possible everytime you went near them. Could be useful targeting specific classmate to move away from your rival to kill them easily?
Sadly, I’m not anyone who knows anything about programing, but I’m here to give a suggestion about one of the games‘ oldest mechanics. In Yandere Simulator, you can keep multiple students in your basement at a time, and it’s very easy to do. I think that in your initial video about this topic, you said that it *should be* one of the most difficult elimination methods. However, I don’t think that it is very hard, at all. So, I’ll offer a solution to that! Perhaps, you will need to leave a note in a student’s locker. You will tell them to meet you in the Gym Storage Closet, (closest to the running track). You get the syringe and tranquilizer, which may be in the nurses bag. Maybe in this concept, she will go to lunch and put her bag next to her where she is sitting. You will need to distract her with something, and then you will take the required items. Once you rush over to the gym, you will need to be very quiet and because you will initiate the conversation with that student, or if you were crouching or crawling, you will get a much harsher reputation penalty because you were acting sketchy. The way that you would sneak up on them is if you set a radio down in the room and use the remote control, it will go on and the student will hear it. They will go to turn it off, and then you come up from behind and tranquilize them. The way that your new potential feature could fit here is that with the students and faculty turning and acknowledging you as you pass them or come up from behind them, I think that they should notice you almost twice as fast as they did before. It would encourage you to keep large weapons in the instrument case from the Light Music Club or the Weapon Case (at the entrance of the school, since no-one really uses it, so I wanted to give it some use.) Overall, I think that these changes could increase the need for stealth within an elimination that I think that you would need to be the stealthiest for, (and for some reason, you need no stealth to complete.)
I think this is a really cool idea to add to the game! It’ll definitely make the characters feel more alive and realistic and it’ll bring more life into this game. Something I suggest though is making the characters stop looking at Ayano after a few seconds because them just staring would be kinda creepy. It’d also help to fix the problem with their heads as well. And also I feel like their expressions should vary based on how they feel about Ayano. For example if Ayano did a task for them/ befriended them they should give her a gentle smile when looking at her, and if they saw Ayano murder someone on the previous day they should give her a suspicious look and watch her for longer than everyone else would. (I think the student council could look at Ayano longer as well since they’re suspicious of her). If you’re reading this I hope you consider adding this to the game! :)
I do think this feature would be good. But I wonder if how distractible a character is should be dependent on personality or school atmosphere. If school atmosphere already effects how far away a student can sense you, then maybe not so much. But for the personalities, I could imagine a coward, violent, dangerous or sleuth persona would be jumpier and react right away. But a phone addict, or loner would be less likely to react unless you were super close. I just think of what I see when I walk through a sea of students on my way to get coffee. They don't all just stop what they're doing to stare at me as I walk. But some of them will look up and watch me walk by. Some will glance up and immediately look back down. And some don't even notice me at all. Especially if they are on their phones, reading, or talking to someone. A character in the middle of a task (like running to meet somebody, or heading to a class) probably shouldn't react either. But that would probably help with the "husk" feel of some characters.
it'd be cool to see that certain characters look at you differently. Maybe the bullies or popular characters don't even stare at you if you're not popular enough, and if you're popular they stare at you happily, and if your reputation isn't very good they stare at you with mischief. Maybe shy characters like the occult club, Horuda, and Kuu Dere only look at you for a second then stop, and if you look back they may panic and look away quickly or walk away quickly. And maybe certain characters like the delinquents and the student council stare at you without emotions simply to threaten or show authority to you.
Its true that the feature migth be a litlle bit buggy but just think of that. When a student stay in his phone he would instantly wanna see you. It would make a litlle bit weird. Also there could be a setting for these new feature. Where theres a place where you show the player your new ideas. SOMEHOW it could make you more intrested at the games personality types and also the players opinion. Heres some personality that i reccomend Social buterfly : look at you with a smile Evil : Look at you angry The bullies : ignoring you The teachers : looking at you very happy or weird if you have a weapon or have a wrong uniform. Also that could change the game in many ways because when someone does something weird like caryng a weapon that could be an animation for the face expression.
i know this video is like 4 months ago, but i'd like to give a suggestion. piggybacking off of the many comments that say other students should have a variety of different glances depending on whatever matter to make the game more realistic. i think it'd be cool if ayano herself would be able to specifically glance towards her rival when she's in a certain meter of them or when she's near them when they're not looking. since she's notorious by the fan base for killing off her rivals.. i think it would give the sense like she's planning something or thinking about how she'd be able to eliminate them
I like this idea! Maybe for a more realistic feel, depending on your reputation or friendship levels with different students/ people, maybe have them look for example: Happy (if they are your friend), scared (if they see something traumatic like a corpse and they don’t know who did it), Glare at you (if they saw you commit the murder and you got away with it), or maybe it vary? Maybe have Taro look at you only when you start acting weird? Or when other characters are focused on different tasks/ are in certain animations, they don’t look at you until it’s completed?
It’s not a good piece of advice Like, at all But I think it would be cool if you could apply this to objects in the school, like if a student is passing the fountain, they have a chance of focusing on it for a few seconds. Oh also, someone recommended making it so that characters look away from the player for a few seconds before looking back. I think that’s also a good option to fix it, not just because it would look better but because, logically speaking, they wouldn’t care enough about what you’re doing to not focus on whatever they’re doing.
I think to make it feel very natural, characters could only glance at Ayano for about 2-3 seconds, unless she is standing uncomfortably close to them at which point they will continuously look at her
Well, I have an idea! and this idea is: characters with physiological needs, for example, some student can feel like going to the bathroom at any time, giving some opportunities for yandere-chan to do something immoral without anyone noticing, this could happen in the middle of classes, during the cleaning time and even after school, or anytime! I think it would make the characters more lively. (Actually, i have another idea, but it would make the text much long, so i just resume it: if you befriend someone, that person can wave to you, or eventually greet yandere-chan, walk beside you and etc.)
I like to imagine that when you walk past the characters who are texting, they will looking at you for a few seconds while holding their phone to their chest so that you won’t see what they’re doing on their phone. (I would do the same if it’s in public)
It's normal to scan a room during tasks/ conversations, to look around the room, at other people, out the window. I think there should be a timed "room scan" where random characters will break eye contact from what they are doing/focused on and look around/change how they are sitting or standing or whatever. Characters should also try hard not to look at characters who have a low reputation and even step a little away from them for fear of being lumped in with that character. For example, if Amai had a low enough reputation, other students might not want to be near her or risk her coming over to talk if they made eye contact. It might be easier to avoid her altogether since she clearly needs to work on her reputation and with everyone avoiding Amai, who's going to be watching her back when Ayano knifes it? 😎 More importantly, if a character happened to be looking out the window and saw Ayano dragging a corpse across the campus, it would be impossible for her to get away with it. It would be more realistic and if Ayano could close the blinds in the classroom before moving the body, it adds a step, a thought process, if you will. Perhaps causing a distraction that would either draw everyone's attention or maybe finding a way to clear the classroom would be another way to prevent any window watching witnesses. It does feel like there's a LOT of blindspots when everyone is in class. It could stand to be a little more challenging. What about having the student council wander the halls for an extra 10 minutes once class has started so they can issue disciplinary action to any students running late or skipping class (not including the delinquents because any proper delinquent knows how to evade authority)? The equivalent of an American hall monitor, to be frank, would add to the difficulty. Maybe if Ayano is late to class, they implement it as an update to school procedure. Maybe Ayano could find a way to use this to get other students into trouble and hold them in detention to aid her in her goal. 🤔...maybe...😏 This was a lot more than I intended lol. I haven't even played in years! 😂 I just remember feeling like it was a little too easy to skip class and too easy to avoid getting caught if nearly everyone was busy in class. Its realistic for teachers to try and keep kids in school and normal for people to shift their focus and change their positions. No one stands in T pose making too much creepy continuous eye contact to have a 5 minute conversation🤣
idk but I feel it's really weird for characters to look at you all the time if you're next to them, if you're going to add this feature, make them look at you for a little while and then go back to what they were doing
A short-term solution to this could possibly be to make it so that they only look for a little while, hopefully not long enough for the glitch to happen. Most people, whenever someone walks past them, don't stare forever and usually only glance in that person's direction for a second or two. Stopping and just watching that person walk past the whole time is usually considered creepy, take it from someone who used to have a coworker that did that. Like others have suggested, for characters doing something else like looking at their phone, reading, playing an instrument, etc., maybe they could only move their eyes. But even just what's implemented so far does help the game feel even more lively. It'd be cool, too, if their expression would be different based on their relationship with the player, though I understand that that would be a little hard to implement while you're still working out the kinks for the base feature.
I'm not sure if you've talked about this but maybe you can try adding a weather system? Im just some random kid so you dont have to do it but i think it would also add some challenges and opportunities for the player. Since its raining this would be a good excuse to bring an umbrella and maybe the player can use the umbrella as a weapon or use it to conceal weapons. The rain can also come at a random time so some students who didnt bring an umbrella can borrow the raincoat making the raincoat unavailable for that time period. There will also be student who will get wet and run to the shower. IDK maybe if you hide a body there they will see it? Another thing, If you ask a student to follow you outside and its raining they wont follow you. Maybe you can add a task connected to it. Maybe someone forgot their umbrella but the coat is unavailable, Then youll have to let them borrow yours or you can walk together with them to their house. Then maybe you can use this feature to know someones address if you really need to. Making the weather hot can also make the students thirstier so they will go to the water dispensers more often. Some of them will be at the pool cuz you know its hot. Some people may fall ill because they were soaked in the rain so they need to go to the nurse's office. IDK i just feel like this feature can allow the player to do so much more and make the game more alive?? (sorry for my grammar)
That’s a really smart idea!!! Maybe if a character was on their phone let’s just say midori for example, instead of a normal student staring at you for 4 seconds maybe a phone addict or so one reading a book could stare at you for 2 seconds
Here’s some suggestions for this feature Different animations depending on your reputation/persona of student Loner-Small,shy turn. Hero- Friendly but seemingly intimidating expression Bullies (off phone)-Normal but Stern glare. Spiteful- Suspicious glare Everyone else- Normal if normal rep High Rep- Friendly Norm-Normal Low-Suspicion/Fear Befriended student-Happy and friendly gesture Student w/ grudge- suspicion Also they shouldn’t turn when their texting/exercising
as soon as I heard head turning I already knew there was gonna be neck snapping, idk how to fix it but I do have suggestions for when it is working: 1. People who are busy with some sort of focused activity like texting, reading, writing, etc. wouldn't be inclined to turn their head towards the player 2. Some characters like the occult club members wouldn't wanna be too obvious about it, and would more likely give a subtle side eye than a full head turn 3. Other characters like the delinquents wouldn't care about your presence unless you were bumping into them, so they wouldn't look at all 4. To seem a little less programmed you could randomize the times the characters spend looking from 1-5 seconds to be a little more natural 5. It could also be fun if some of the shyer characters looking at you would immediately stop looking if you started facing them, however, that suggestion just for flavor but might not be worth the extra coding time if you don't want
It’s been a while since I see videos related to the development of Yandere Simulator!! A childhood game of mine!! Nostalgic to see these type of videos
I think it would be cool if when you have a high reputation, when the students look at you, they smile at Yan-Chan or wave, or if you have a bad reputation then the students will give you mean looks when you walk by, or play a gossiping animation if they're talking with another student. Though it does seem hard to program, but it would be a nice touch.
give them expressions when turning, having npcs just glaring at you or starring for a time would feel off, lets say u were good friends with an npc, maybe make them smile as u walk past them?
I don't know how you implemented this system, so I can only guess, but maybe you can save the state of the bones in the previous frame and compare them with the current frame, if the difference is too large you can ignore the current frame and use the previous values instead.
I like that you’re uploading these types of videos because 1, they’re interesting,(at least to me) and 2, people who see it can offer advice to help you with implementing certain features. I am interested in game development and the types of issues that developers run into and how they go about solving them.
The Kubz Scoutz was actually thinking that when you do someone's task and they are friends with you, if you walk by them, they will say hi or wave, y know, depending on their personality. I think it would be cool! Like if ur in the delinquents and u pass them and instead of them saying "scram punk!" They say "sup" or "hey"
Even if you fix the problem, i think characters should stop looking at Ayano after a specify amount of time, lets say 5 seconds, because if they will just stare at protagonist it startst to fell weird and creepy. Also, if character is texting then its unnatural for them to just stop to look at a person passing by
i agree looking at a person for 5 secs would be normal it will also increase if the player did something sus like murder or bloody clothes ,etc
Also if they saw you commit murder and they had a grudge on you they will lock on you with no timer if you dont stand next to them
Yea
I think the game should be creepy. It's a dark game, after all, where you play psycho-killer who stops at nothing to have her Senpai. Having school students creepily stare at you for no reason, just because you are there, adds to the vibe of the game. Therefore, this creepy element should stay.
I agree
And also, you could possibly have it to where after a while they stop looking at you if you're around for a certain amount of time, because they lost interest in you
i agree with all of this
Yeah/ and the people who stop putting interest in you will only regain interest if you do something bad or suspicious like take out a knife or kill someone with anything. I also thing other students should be able to give attention or not give attention to other students too (in the future), it’ll make the game feel even more alive!
this.
YES
yep
And maybe when you look at her, she quickly looks away
Ooo like if they had a coward personality type??
YES
This is proof that little details really make a huge different. With this feature alone the characters already look so much more livelier. I hope you will receive the help you need real soon.
I saw someone said that characters should stop looking at the protagonist after a certain amount of time and I agree. That's my only criticism about this feature. I wish you the best of luck!
True
Character should look at you based on affinity, character that dislike look away, character who don't care stay neutral, character who like you or are suspicious look at you, character who loves you look at you but also turn their torso toward you and have different facial expressions, people who despise you turn their torso away, look away and have the annoyed face expression. Different personalities should have different turn intensity and triggering distance, some just turn their gaze, not the head, some look at you at a distance but become shy when you get close and look away. Etc...
oh my gosh I love this concept
Not necessarily
if Ayano arrives next to her classmate and her classmate isn't doing anything, it's normal for her to notice her presence for example
But yea for the rest it would be a good Idea
i can see what you mean but i feel like they’re alot of flaws to this
it would be really cool to see students who are both friends wave and smile at when they walk past each other in the hallway! or someone friends with the player smile and wave and say something! you expressed expressions and emotions for animations is a priority for them, i think also having emotions through their actions would definitely help make them feel more alive
That's an amazing idea you have
Nice✔
This sounds so cool!

This little feature DEF makes the characters feel more alive! Them aklowledging Ayano's presence is great, however, instead of them just looking at her the entire time she's there, maybe they could look for about 3-5 seconds (or just a short time) then they're head can go back to whatever it was doing.
Good idea!
Yeah and maybe they should also look at other “people” instead of just ayano too
I was about to suggest that.
This!
This is actually a really good feature! I also wish the students also react to other students when passing by. Also when someone stares at you while reading or texting is kinda strange.
I think that certain animations should affect the amount of attention the give you:
Standing in one spot - full head turn (within realistic angles) and possibly even some chest turn (within realistic angles)
On phone or in book - no turning of any body part at all (not even eyes)
Walking - eyes turn but not any other body part
Sitting - head and eyes turn
Exercising - eyes turn
Swimming - no turn
Eating - eyes turn
Taking food - eyes turn
All of these movements would have a 4 second duration before they lose interest
Yoo, this is cool. I would love if this was added to the game
I agree!
I thought it was funny how Midori gave her side eye like “Ik you’re gonna kill me , it’s getting old at this point” 😂😂
Maybe the texting characters should have an animation where they just lower their phones and just hold it while looking at the player. It looks strange having them text without looking at their phones, and I think that would make it look more natural as well
Yes!!
You need to get them to stop their animation and then get them to look at you.
Good idea
@@kidonyoutubeyt Thanks!
@@Hi-Tech-Sonic or maybe the people on their phones, or just generally focused on another task doesn't look at the player. it makes it more normal; they'd be more engrossed in what they're doing rather than look at the player, which also makes it easier to code
@@mi_yauu seems like a great idea!
Here are some ideas I think could be interesting depending on the student/situation:
-If a student is texting, reading, gaming, training, cleaning, anything that requires full attention, only their eyes would follow the player - this way the animation glitches might be easier to avoid.
-Students with the “social butterfly” persona could turn and offer a little wave as the player passes by (they’d only wave once, so it wouldn’t look awkward if the player stood next to them)
-The bullies would only pay attention to the player if your reputation was high enough
-NPCs would look away after a few seconds, except for the delinquents, who could keep glaring at you, as an attempt to intimidate the player
-Student council members and staff might only move their eyes, (except Akane) and maybe would react to the character from farther away as they’re more cautious
-At low atmosphere, NPCs would not stop staring at Ayano until she walked away
-Horuda and students with the Coward persona would only follow the player with their eyes
-NPCs would not react to the player when reacting to a weapon, blood, or body
I’m not a programmer, so I can’t be sure how hard it would be to implement these, I just think it would be cool.
If you get the bug fixed I have an idea for the head turns, if the person is your friend they should smile at you, if they’re suspicious glare at you, if they just don’t plan like you, if that’s even a thing I don’t remember, have them give a very dirty and suspicious look or something. Just different facial expressions for different types of personalities and how friendly they are with YanChan or depending on her reputation too
Ya know this feature would be really interesting if you can manage to make it work, because then it makes me wonder the possibility of your friendship towarda a character would affect their head turning
(I know that was confusing but let me give an example)
If you befriend midori, then walk up to her and she turns her head maybe she would smile and look less bored than if she just didnt know who you are, the same thing for if you kill someone infront of a student and they know that you are a killer, and maybe based off persona they would look at you differently
(Programing Part [Not a programer] )
Maybe you can separate the model between the head and the body, and when the player near by the animation will change to normal idle blinking but still doing the same animation secretly and then when the player is not near NPCs anymore the npc will just go back to the same animation that they use to have. I'm not really sure that's it gonna fix the problem or not.
(Qualities Part)
But I have another suggestion, that will make the students feel more alive and realistic.
3:18 shes staring at u while typing 👀👀
Expanding on 1980s Mode would be a "stretch goal" - something to consider only after the main game has been fully funded.
My genshin game glitched and the character’s neck just snapped
Maybe the characters could only look for a second and then look away.
Everyone talking about the animation but I’m just focused on the fact that he used Genshin impact as an example lol

Ahh Midori have the same "personnality" as the bullies so yea she have an unfriendly face lmfao 😭

I think it would be cool if students also looked at you while spotting you misbehavior, similar to how Hitman NPCs do
That's what I was thinking, I played another yandere game where students look at you and there are background noises (talking, footsteps of student, etc) and it felt so alive.
Now I’m reading comments and lots of ppl had +- similar thoughts about this, lolol
I am not a programmer, but I will leave my suggestion
you could make the characters who carry a book or a cell phone after 10 seconds stop looking at you and park a message at the top that says something like "midori I ignore you" or something similar I hope this helps you
I think this feature would make the game feel more realistic because in real life if someone walks by you or sits next to you youll look or glance at them, so this idea is a very good one! I wish you well on making it work out and finding other people who have the experience you need for it to function the way you want :)
That so true

This is kinda random but I have an update idea: adding cats as a distraction
not a programmer but an editor who has experience with keyframes and keyframe glitches. what i do is i set the first keyframe to the default values, then go to the end of the animation and set the keyframe i want to end it at, adjust it a bit, dont add keyframes yet, and when it's to your liking, add all the keyframes in between to avoid the glitch problem. you probs alr tried this but i just want to make sure yk

this move they will be scared at you like your a stalker or something 😂
Hmmm...
They could lower your ratings or something.
Oh and if you kept doing it for 3 days they will really think your a real stalker and try to avoid you as much as possible everytime you went near them. Could be useful targeting specific classmate to move away from your rival to kill them easily?
I didnt know that YandereDev playing genshin.
everyone would look very gossipy
Yan-chan : I feel alive
Game: I want too
I think this actually makes them look more robotic. Idk why all the students in a high school would only stare at one person
Your right
yeahhhh the students should be looking at eachother
I feel like yandere dev uses this account more then his main.
Me the first 2 seconds: YESSSSSSSS GENSHIN
10 seconds later:how do you hav- oh
Damn didn’t know YandereDev played genshin impact??
I really like the new faces and hair! I can't really tell if the whole bodies are different, but I really like the models!
it'd be cool to see that certain characters look at you differently.
Tbh I like how yandere dev isn't posting on his main LMFAO
Its true that the feature migth be a litlle bit buggy but just think of that.
When a student stay in his phone he would instantly wanna see you. It would make a litlle bit weird.
Also there could be a setting for these new feature. Where theres a place where you show the player your new ideas. SOMEHOW it could make you more intrested at the games personality types and also the players opinion.
Heres some personality that i reccomend
Social buterfly : look at you with a smile
Evil : Look at you angry
The bullies : ignoring you
The teachers : looking at you very happy or weird if you have a weapon or have a wrong uniform.
Also that could change the game in many ways because when someone does something weird like caryng a weapon that could be an animation for the face expression.
I love that you want bring back a feature that was used in yandere simulator prototype
How about other characters walk into the school with friends and go to the bathroom at random times. That’ll make it more realistic.
i know this video is like 4 months ago, but i'd like to give a suggestion. piggybacking off of the many comments that say other students should have a variety of different glances depending on whatever matter to make the game more realistic. i think it'd be cool if ayano herself would be able to specifically glance towards her rival when she's in a certain meter of them or when she's near them when they're not looking. since she's notorious by the fan base for killing off her rivals.. i think it would give the sense like she's planning something or thinking about how she'd be able to eliminate them
woah yamderdev playing genshin impact? didnt expect that!
It’s not a good piece of advice
Like, at all
But I think it would be cool if you could apply this to objects in the school, like if a student is passing the fountain, they have a chance of focusing on it for a few seconds.
Oh also, someone recommended making it so that characters look away from the player for a few seconds before looking back. I think that’s also a good option to fix it, not just because it would look better but because, logically speaking, they wouldn’t care enough about what you’re doing to not focus on whatever they’re doing.
YandereDev got a level 90 traveler lets goooo
I think to make it feel very natural, characters could only glance at Ayano for about 2-3 seconds, unless she is standing uncomfortably close to them at which point they will continuously look at her
That’s a very good idea!
Adds more to the social simulation aspect of the game
Why did lumine genuinely scare me
It's normal to scan a room during tasks/ conversations, to look around the room, at other people, out the window.
More importantly, if a character happened to be looking out the window and saw Ayano dragging a corpse across the campus, it would be impossible for her to get away with it.
🤔...maybe...😏
This was a lot more than I intended lol.
YANDEREDEV LUMINE 😧
when he opened with genshin I got so fucking confused
Not you roasting Lumine... 💀✋
idk but I feel it's really weird for characters to look at you all the time if you're next to them, if you're going to add this feature, make them look at you for a little while and then go back to what they were doing
(sorry for my grammar)
this is a pretty cool idea. really love how you take the time to make yandere simulator feel more realistic!
That’s a really smart idea!!! Maybe if a character was on their phone let’s just say midori for example, instead of a normal student staring at you for 4 seconds maybe a phone addict or so one reading a book could stare at you for 2 seconds
Here’s some suggestions for this feature
Different animations depending on your reputation/persona of student
Loner-Small,shy turn.
Hero- Friendly but seemingly intimidating expression
Bullies (off phone)-Normal but Stern glare.
Spiteful- Suspicious glare
Everyone else- Normal if normal rep
High Rep- Friendly
Norm-Normal
Low-Suspicion/Fear
Befriended student-Happy and friendly gesture
Student w/ grudge- suspicion
Also they shouldn’t turn when their texting/exercising
as soon as I heard head turning I already knew there was gonna be neck snapping, idk how to fix it but I do have suggestions for when it is working:
1. People who are busy with some sort of focused activity like texting, reading, writing, etc. wouldn't be inclined to turn their head towards the player
2. Some characters like the occult club members wouldn't wanna be too obvious about it, and would more likely give a subtle side eye than a full head turn
3. Other characters like the delinquents wouldn't care about your presence unless you were bumping into them, so they wouldn't look at all
4. To seem a little less programmed you could randomize the times the characters spend looking from 1-5 seconds to be a little more natural
This seems like a really cool feature and would love to have this in game
I feel like one thing to make the game feel more natural is friends walking next to eachother and talking instead of them walking behind eachother
to see that he picked my girl for the traveler makes me so happy

*Anyway, please rig the characters to make their head face the player!!*
give them expressions when turning, having npcs just glaring at you or starring for a time would feel off, lets say u were good friends with an npc, maybe make them smile as u walk past them?
Wow didn't know an alternate timeline of genshin existed where there were no characters but the traveler!
I don't know how you implemented this system, so I can only guess, but maybe you can save the state of the bones in the previous frame and compare them with the current frame, if the difference is too large you can ignore the current frame and use the previous values instead.
should add a feature to it where the eyes flick back and forth foward or down if they are moving or using a phone so they look aware
