Lawrence Welk is why I hated Sunday nights when I was growing up. Also, anyone else remember being traumatized by the threat of nuclear annihilation? I heard my city was on the hit list due to oil refineries, so I laid awake n terror anytime I heard a plane while lying in bed at night. Ah, yes, the good old days. 😉

My mother is a nurse and she tells me when she goes to the lunchroom there's always that someone in the hospital staff dancing for Snapchat or TikTok and I wish I could tell her something like "See Ma that's what you call woke agendas that are being forced in the workplace."
Because she tells me that the state could get involved trying to figure out what's going on in the hospital and how are doctors, nurses or other medical professionals not doing their jobs... It's unreal... Imagine if you danced in front of a camera in the workplace back in the 1980s or the 1990s you would've been completely fired from your job!

Seems to be hot all over. 5 years ago my neighbour asked why on earth I had an airco installed, in a country that only sees very mild summers. Last week he asked for the installer’s phone number. Pity for him, but apparently they’re all sold out.
My ac was broken for like the whole month of may…. It was always between 80-85 degrees in my house during that time. I’ve also had no ac in my car for the past 2 years and my work did not have good ac as it needed repairs to it. I could not escape the heat. Like our “cold” water for shower was not cold…it was warm from the sun beating down on the house. Now that it’s July…. No ac in the house would be death here in central Texas.
98° here in my part of South Carolina today. Pretty warm!! Humidity really high and thunderstorms everywhere.

Lawrence Welk was an orchestra leader who played "Champagne music... the sweetest music this side of heaven." and he had a television show popular with the elderly during the 1950's and 1960's. His fans were of the age of those who fought in World War I. The show was sponsored by Geratol.
I am right at the tail end of Lawrence Welk. I use to see his shows from time to time. My parents and grandparents always talked about the show.

Ah the memories! Every Saturday my parents took us to church, to a restaurant and then we all watched The Lawrence Welk show. Moving from Canada as a 10 year old this was my introduction to a scary screaming priest, Whoppers, Ponderosa and Burger Chef with their sturdy glasses(made of glass) which I still own to this day and an entertaining variety show. Other than the screaming priest, I loved Saturdays. To finish off the evening my dad would watch his shows in the family room and my mom and I would watch Three's Company, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show and The Caroll Burnett Show in her bed. Good times!

I find it difficult to believe that you don't know who Lawrence Welk was. His show, The Lawrence Welk Show, was on TV for over 30 years. He lived a fascinating life. His family were immigrants from Ukraine to North Dakota. A great American Dream story. They went from living under a wagon, covered in sod, to him becoming a nationally known TV personality. My parents made me watch it too. It didn't hurt me.
And there is a very nice theater in Branson, Missouri... "The Lawrence Welk Theater".
I took accordion lessons.
I never watched Lawrence Welk, but I did watch Red Skelton.

Drove through his hometown in ND once ... there was a historic marker. Not much else, but yeah, we watched his show at my Grandparent's place whenever we'd visit them :) Good memories!
Lawrence Welk was aired on PBS. It was from the 70’s and 80’s and they played the reruns every evening for a couple of hours throughout the 90’s. It was a song and dance show. Lawrence Welk was the band leader and they would have skits play along to the music. Very old time show.

Born and raised in Florida. 4th generation. My family didn't have AC until I was in college. Under no circumstances am I turning my AC off.

I watched Lawrence Welk as a kid.
Grandma loved that show.
I didn't realize it was on tv 27 years.
Worse than running into someone you know while grocery shopping is when someone else runs into someone THEY know, and the two of them camp out side by side in the aisle and chat for 7 hours, oblivious to the thousand people who have to get in their shopping around them. Second place, the person who stops in the middle of turning their cart in mid-aisle because they got a text, and they are now unable to move again until they write a 3500 word essay in response.
Or when you were 9 and were required to go with your mom to the grocery store and she met someone at the store she literally saw at church 2 days ago, and they have to talk about everything they did since the last time they met at the store, which was literally last week. You finally wandered off to the toy section or the magazine rack (or the section with the hamsters and birds and fish if you went to Woolworth) or anywhere but standing there listening to 2 women talking about the most boring topics on the face of the earth. Then you got in trouble because your mom had to come looking for you before leaving the store. Of course if you are old enough, you can remember the old female cashiers catching you misbehaving and giving you swats and taking you back to your mom who gave you more swats. When you finally got back home, you might get even more swats from your dad.
I really hated going to the store with my mom when I was a kid.

Too many people like to use an apostrophe to make a word plural. So dumb...
Products can be priced per case, or by “each”. Distributors will frequently use the word “eaches”. But they really butchered the grammar. They only needed to say “$.25 each”.
