Health anxiety (Hypochondria) can be confusing. It can trick you into thinking you may be in great danger when you're not. It takes normal physical symptoms and makes you create catastrophes about what it actually means. Let's go through what health anxiety looks like and how to do the treatment.

I hate how hypochondriacs and those with health anxiety are portrayed in popular media. I live in a constant state of terror and exhaustion, and I know I'm not doing it for attention. it's not funny or "quirky", this fear consumes my every waking moment 😤😔

Why does no one talk about those who are so scared that they DON'T go to the doctor for fear of doctors finding something?

When I have a headache I think about brain cancer, chest pain - heart attack, mole or any pimple - skin cancer, stomach pain - cancer. It's ruining my life

So far I’ve diagnosed myself with many cancers and now I’ve had twitches all around my body muscle weekness and body tics/jumping and I thought it was als when to the doctors and they said everything is fine health anxiety is horrible and trust me people anxiety can show physical symptoms and it’s horrible but you just gotta learn and say to you’re self there is nothing wrong with you and ignore it and ride it out

Cancer is my biggest fear ever. I cry almost every night because I’m scared and I’m always stressed because of it……

I can’t give advice to anyone but I can commiserate with all my fellow health anxious sufferers. Hugs to you all, we are going to be okay ❤️

It’s so nice to see other people in the comments with the exact struggles as me!! Iv completely convinced myself I had breast cancer & some form of blood cancer. Iv been to the doctor where they tell me nothings wrong & yet here I am still totally convinced I have cancer. It’s taken over my life & has caused me to stop eating due to the constant stare of panic I am in. It is absolute hell!! It makes me feel alone & crazy! This video has helped me so much today so thank you!

Im obsessed with my fast heart rate. Anyone else have this problem and cured it?

  • @EFTPractice

All videos always tell health anxiety sufferers to first see their doctor to rule out anything "serious", and then to use whatever tools/strategies/ ideas the health anxiety expert recommends. However, what about health anxiety sufferers who can't even make it to a doctor because they're terrified of what they might be diagnosed with? Could you possibly address this in another video? I have some clients who don't dare see a doctor and haven't seen one in years. Thank you!

I get worried that I’m going to stop breathing, anxiety from this causes me to actually struggle for air. So draining

I had a lump in my breast and didn’t go to the doctor for 3 months (it turned out to be nothing). I developed health anxiety and now I’ve told myself that I had breast cancer, a brain tumour, throat cancer, colon cancer, bone cancer, leukaemia etc. I really don’t have any symptoms, except a few pains. I know it’s irrational and that is so exhausting. I also only have my ‘symptoms’ when I’m alone. When I’m with friends, it’s gone (which sucks when there’s a pandemic going)... so tiring

I’ve had health anxiety since I was very young. My biggest fear is always cancer. I get a random cough, headache, sore throat, etc…it’s always cancer. I have annoyed everyone around me to the point I just suffer in silence now. I wouldn’t wish health anxiety on anyone. It’s sheer hell. But for those around us not dealing with health anxiety, I promise we are not doing this for attention or to be annoying, we are actually really really struggling. The constant reassuring that we are so desperately looking for just calms us down momentarily. It gives us a small moment of calmness before the madness in our minds starts again.

I get obsessed at times with checking my heart rate and temperature. Being hyper aware of my breathing or any little ache or pain I feel.

Wow! You are so scary accurate! Cancer is definitely my biggest anxiety. Watched both my wife’s parents pass away from this terrible disease and I think that’s part of my health anxiety. But I just can’t seem to stop thinking 🤯

the heart attack example really hit close to home, last year on new years eve i had a very big panic attack because of chest pains and just overall feeling weak, called an ambulance twice, didn't sleep for two days and went to the hospital- turns out i just had a throat infection, but still whenever my left arm/chest/jaw hurts i just get that sinking feeling.

For many years I went to the doctor. Everything was "fine". Then I got embarrassed and lost faith in the doctor because I FEEL symptoms. Now I don't trust myself or my doctor who waves everything off as anxiety... so I don't go anymore. Haven't been for years 🥴 Everyday I feel 'lucky' I didn't die... but maybe tomorrow. It's not 'almost traumatic' it is and it's debilitating
