Loved that last hat catch, Love your energy, and the knowledge you give in each video. You make them interesting, easy to stay tuned, and take notes. Thanks, keep up the Great work !!! New subscriber
Love your videos! Several of these shrubs will look great on the north side of my home in W-S to replace hostas that were there for years. I had used yews in Atlanta at my front door under an arbor with camellias. Great tips.
Love your channel- I have a large filtered light woodland garden I’m developing. I would love to see your take on woodland garden design. Shade loving accent trees, shrubs, flowering plants.
You are terrific. I am in Connecticut and planning a landscaping overhaul for front of our home mostly shade but worse is our beautiful hungry deer. Any help will be so appreciated Justin!
I’d love if you did a video on when (time of year) you can expect to find various plants like this locally at nurseries. I always go shopping for plants at the wrong time of year I think.
I love your videos! It would be great to see a series on what to plant with the spreader yew plants. I have similar yews (they were here when I moved in and I want to freshen things up). I'm trying to figure out good combinations behind that front layer of yews. (I was thinking Mountain Fire Pieris directly under my front windows-- but not sure what to put in between the yew and Pieris!). Cheers!
I would like you to do a video about how to prune and care for camellia shrubs to provide the most blooms. Thanks for this video! I'll be coming to buy some of the shrubs you introduced!
We have an under ground spring marshy area in our yard so I could really use tips on shrubs/plants/trees that would make a good border around that area. Do you think an ornamental grass might help hide that area? Love your videos so much.
Those are great suggestions. Would any of those choices be good for erosion control and/or do you have shade suggestions that help combat erosion? Thank you
Excellent ℹ️ information 💯 love that vibe ❤ but I'm curious. What about hedge or privacy. Such as a Green Giant arborvitae. How do they grow? Fast, slow and how tall ? Please Justin..
I purchased 3 lemony lace after this videi and they did not do well in the shade. I am in zone 7. I moved them to part shade/full sun and they did much better.
We Mediterranean dwellers need to have a plant loving Mediterranean UA-cam Gardner person. I haven’t found one yet. I watch a lot of others though and learn a lot. Have to read a lot about plants.
Think it would be safe for me to plant any of these under my mature Magnolia tree? It’s pretty much shaded all day. I know it has shallow roots though so I wouldn’t want to damage the tree.
I live in central florida with a north facing house. 4' out from the front of the house NEVER gets direct sun due to the overhang of the roof. Will Illicium grow in this constant shade? if not, then what will?
I only have a very small area to plant shrubs, and it’s shaded most of the time. Would you recommend one of these over another for a small area. The area is only about 2.5 to 3 feet deep (front to back)
Hey Justin I need a fast growing plant to lightly screen (doesn’t have to be thick) from 3’ high to 5’ high. What would you suggest? I know it’s a wierd question but I accidentally removed the privacy From 3’-5’ when limbing up my 30’ Leyland Cyprus.
Need a video on plants suitable for a Living Screen -- HOA won't replace my shade trees they mismanaged-to-ruination. Won't allow any sunscreen nor umbrella. South + West are my most exposed sides of my house; we're suffering :( A living screen by hanging plants, or, trough-container-planted screening plants, having a cooling, shading effect. Fragrance and anti-mosquito action a bonus. Help? Zone 8b. ❤
I live in area 7 and I am looking for some deer resistant evergreen that will grow into 10-12' tall and 5' wide. Emerald green arborvitae would fit this criteria but it is not deer resistant. I don't like laurels (too messy) or Japanese holly. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks.
Uh oh. Did I make a mistake??? Just went to pProven Winner and on their website it listed Elderberry Lemony Lace as part sun to sun AND same thing on the rhythmic blue hydrangea as part sun to sun I am close you you in Zone 7a what could be the difference between their website and you stating shade??
In many areas they'll do just fine in full sun. Here in Zone 7B (Shelby, NC) I have found that they do a little better with afternoon shade. I've noticed some sun scorching on them when placed in full sun around the months of July and August.
What do you mean......"Michigan of ALL places"! That's where I live and you should see how well ALL hydrangeas do here!! I'm also about 15 miles from Walters Gardens - one of the leading labs & wholesale places in the US! Maybe we can't grow gardenias & jasmine - but please!! LOL
Loved this. And I needed this info. I have a dwarf lemon tree that I've been growing for about 3-4 years on my deck bringing it inside during the winter. It's had many flowers especially this spring. It has 5 green lemons and one or two baby buds but there are little ants near the buds and on some limbs. What should I do about them? Our winters have become warmer in our 7a-b zone in Knoxville, TN. I really would like to see these lemons grow to maturity and harvest them. Help?
Did you have to order your dwarf lemon tree online or did you go out and buy it? Ive been looking for them for years and wanted to see them b4 i bought them but maybe i can order from the same place you did?
I would like to see a video on flowering shade ground cover. Thank you
Sweet woodruff, Ben a, snow on the mountain. 😉
Thank you for always showing other images when you talk about each plant and including their zones! Such helpful videos!
I like to see videos on fertilizing and keeping your bushes looking good
Thank you for the smiles and laughter you gave me today!
I love seeing his true plant enthusiasm and I love that lemony lace elderberry.
Yes, I loved that as well!

I love when you share the Plant Zones! :)
I would like to see shade tolerant perennials that bloom all summer !!
Love your videos! Several of these shrubs will look great on the north side of my home in W-S to replace hostas that were there for years. I had used yews in Atlanta at my front door under an arbor with camellias. Great tips.
I just need y’all to come to my house and landscape my yard! Love your videos!
I absolutely adore your videos and learn so much from them! Thank you!
Justin I love your energy & enthusiasm
Would love an updated video of this
I'd like to see a video on more shade plants!
Plants for the deep shade of a full shade entry courtyard, 100°F five months straight. Dry.
I very much enjoyed this video -- took notes!
So so glad that you showed them just as one could buy them. Not one day when they mature!
Love your channel-
I have a large filtered light woodland garden I’m developing. I would love to see your take on woodland garden design. Shade loving accent trees, shrubs, flowering plants.
Found your channel just on time. Great info and entertaining introduction. Even better if you can introduce more shade proven plants in 6a zone.
Thank you for the suggestions! Now I have to go buy all of them!
That was great!

We have an under ground spring marshy area in our yard so I could really use tips on shrubs/plants/trees that would make a good border around that area. Do you think an ornamental grass might help hide that area? Love your videos so much.
New subscriber here😁 so let's admit it, they have a shrub named Luke and Laura from General Hospital😂
Great love it.
Those are great suggestions. Would any of those choices be good for erosion control and/or do you have shade suggestions that help combat erosion? Thank you
Please do a video on the variety of Hydrangeas and the best variety to grow in South.. Texas
Loved it
Excellent ℹ️ information 💯 love that vibe ❤ but I'm curious. What about hedge or privacy. Such as a Green Giant arborvitae. How do they grow? Fast, slow and how tall ? Please Justin..

I'd love to see simple plans for shade garden
I'd like to see a video about a shade garden planting design for a cluster of trees in a front yard.

Love your videos so informative . Since I live in the Mediterranean what shrubs do you suggest that can thrive in the 10 to 11 zone temperatures.
We Mediterranean dwellers need to have a plant loving Mediterranean UA-cam Gardner person. I haven’t found one yet. I watch a lot of others though and learn a lot. Have to read a lot about plants.
Just found your videos, Very good.
Got any about cucumbers? Where is the green house located? I am close to Shelby. Thanks.
Hey! Sorry for the late response 2725 w Dixon blv near Sandy’s country Christmas, Cleveland funeral home and beaver dam church!
I grow our cucumbers ❤
These will work in containers ..can you keep them trimmed so they don’t over take the container? Thanks
Need shade shrubs for zones 4 and 5
Think it would be safe for me to plant any of these under my mature Magnolia tree? It’s pretty much shaded all day. I know it has shallow roots though so I wouldn’t want to damage the tree.
What plants would you reccomend for outdoor garden railroading?
How about zone 3. High desert Central Oregon. 🤗
I want whatever he's having! Can't be just coffee ;)
Red Bull! Original flavor
Blooper clip soon???
I think you have a typo on your lemony lace elderberry. Its hardy to zone 7 not zone 9.
I live in central florida with a north facing house. 4' out from the front of the house NEVER gets direct sun due to the overhang of the roof. Will Illicium grow in this constant shade? if not, then what will?
Most of these plants needs sun. i need info on full shade plants/shrubs. Thanks
I only have a very small area to plant shrubs, and it’s shaded most of the time. Would you recommend one of these over another for a small area. The area is only about 2.5 to 3 feet deep (front to back)
Would any of those shrubs work in the Midwest

I have a recommendation. Putin a fence. 😂
I thought Blue Rhythmic Hydrangeas need about 4 hours of sun. Can I plant these in open shade? I'm in zone 6b
Thanks Justin! I have deer frequent my yard, and am wondering how safe any of these shrubs might be?
The sunshine illcium! On the tag it says “deer resistant”
How does one propagate azaleas? 🦋
Uh oh. Did I make a mistake??? Just went to pProven Winner and on their website it listed Elderberry Lemony Lace as part sun to sun AND same thing on the rhythmic blue hydrangea as part sun to sun

I wish you would mention the Zones these will grow in. I love in Canada so most of what you show won't work

Which ones will grow in clay?
How about Golden Yews for shade?
Yes!
Would love to se video that explains how to care for a potted perennial over winter in zone5/6. What type of pot will work? Places to store the plant?
What is the name of the first shrub?
