Thank you so much for sharing this. My mother was born in Holland Den Haag and ive never been so i always love to see my moms homeland anyway i can. Thanks
Thank you for this upload! It reminds me of my vacation in Belgium and the Netherlands two years ago. I took the Thalys from Paris to Brussels. Then I took the intercity trains from Brussels to visit Ghent, Bruges, Antwerpen, and then on to Amsterdam. Even the "slow" trains there seemed way faster than what we have here in Canada. I am also amazed at how extensive and advanced the rail infrastructure is, especially the high speed lines! In Canada, most railroads are non-electrified, single tracked with wooden sleepers, and with priority given to freight trains.
high speed railways are not always justified; in Spain we have built quite a few and some are empty because of its expensive price; instead of high speed trains, I prefer fast trains at 200 Kmsh; this is more than enough for countries like Spain, Holland, Italy, etc...
+madridexiste I wasn't pitching for high speed rail in Canada, or anywhere. I'm saying that even the "slow" trains in Europe are faster, like they seem to go faster than 150 km/h which is the top speed of trains in Canada. Trains are often delayed in Canada as well because if there is a conflict on the tracks with a freight train, then the passenger train must wait for them to pass. Like for example I was once on a train that had to wait more than an hour to let two freight trains pass. Delays that are hours long are common, which is one reason why people don't take the train here.
Germany is the country that makes most of these trains. The fastest train in the world was TGV of the France with an experimental speed around 500 kmph but is now restricted to around 200 to 300 kmph for safety reasons. The reason for such a massive network is that there arent any railroad crossings and most of them have been replaced by overhead bridges. The ground has to be quite flat and strong enough to withstand such extremes.Even the freight teains reach upto speeds of 150 kmph.
Greetings from Russia! These videos are awesome! I learn Deutsch now, so I need to have that kind of picture before my eyes, while I'm listening the audio-material 3 hours in a row daily. Thanks and subscribe! Hope to see more beautiful Netherlands and all the great Europe.
A train lover's wet dream! The closest you can get without being an engineer. This should be shown at the multiplex every weekend. I wish I knew what all the sounds meant.
the part where the train is barely moving while the car traffic on the adjacent highway blows by, leaving "high speed" train in dust, reminds me of riding passenger trains in USA
I know that wonderfull view, what i meet evvery day on my work. Of course not o that speed dimension. Similar with that i see on the DB- ICE trains. Gratitude from loco driver to loco driver.
+CDR Orca The latest model of TGV is the RGV 2N2 (also called EuroDuplex). It has several variants. The 3UA variant (numbers 47xx) is running on the HSL East in France and can go to Germany and Switzerland. The 3UF variant (8xx) can run only in France. The 3UH variant (also 8xx) is a 3UF that can go in Spain (it is fitted with the Spanish signalling systems).
Yes. In the Netherlands, the HSL-Zuid line was built between 2000-2009 and goes from Amsterdam to the Belgian border. Some small parts of this line use existing track. In Belgium, the HSL-4 line also opened in 2009 and goes from the border to Antwerp. The Antwerp-Brussels line is older.
when you take the TGV, you don't need hours , waiting on airports , not to speak about the fact that the railway station is always in the centre of the city..... Also you can walk in the train, have a bite and a drink, and read....
Martijn nvt in deze video rond de 270/280 km/h omdat de trein slechts 75% vermogen had, onder normale omstandigheden rijden Thalys treinen in beide richtingen 300 km/h rond Breda
Is it hard to become TGV/Thalys driver, do you have to be good at math and science? Do you have to wear a uniform? Thank you for the fantastic video, sir.
+theanimatorization I will talk about how you can become a TGV driver. You have to know that you can't become a TGV driver immediately. At the beginning of your job, you have to drive regional or freight trains. After some years of experience, you can become a main line driver. Most of those who are driving TGVs already have at least 20 years of experience. In order to become a SNCF driver, you only need the French baccalaureate diploma or a similar diploma. The training is about 1 year long.
Bigger seats in a 2-1 setting instead of the 2-2 setting in 2nd class, a light meal or snack is included with the ticket depending on which time of the day you travel. Also drinks like water, soda, juice, coffee, tea, wine and beer are complimentary.
WHEN YOU HERE THE BUZZER HE HAS TO HIT THE BUZZER WITHIN 8 SEC OR THE TRAIN WILL BRAKE AUTOMACTIC. WHEN HE IS NOT APPLYING POWER HE HAS LIKE CRUICE CONTROL ON AND YOU HERE THE SOUND LIKE ITS SURGING SOUND AND THE TRAIN IS COASTING WHEN YOU SEE YELLOW SIGNALS MEANS HE HAS TO REDUCE SPEED FOR EITHER A RED SIGNAL TO FOLLOW OR CHANGING TRACKS AHEAD NICE VIDEO WATCHING THIS A SECOUND TIME
I don't know, I think I'm used to it, I don't get the feeling that authorities are really going after them unless they spray paint the trains themselves.
Don,t get me wrong ,we have plenty of it in the UK but this looks a lot worse. The problem is ,the authorities (both countries)don,t seem to do anything to stop it.
Here in the U.S. we have the best of the worst of two things: We have the graffiti but we also have passenger trains so bad they might as well give it up and discontinue them altogether. When I have visited Europe, part of the fun is seeing countries where passenger train travel is still taken very seriously and is absolutely the BEST!

Stunning quality! Thanks for this.
this video is...oddly satisfying, very satisfying.
thanks a bunch!
Thanks for sharing this. Love Thalys :D

I do agree that European railroads are quite advanced.

The only hsl we have in the us is the northeast corridor, where there is a section that's 150 MPH / 240 KPH

Bedankt ik heb genoten. Jeannette
Wow how cool , I was on that very train only coming back from Brussels en-route from Paris. So amazing I want to go back!
Love Sound PBKA, Tanks vidéo magnifique :)
Now that would be a real TRIP!!!!! First stop at the BULLDOG then hop in the cab of a high speed train and head to Belgium, my kind of vacation
Great video - thank you.
Well done! Thanks a lot.

And then maybe in 3D? :D
For those of us half a world away, it's great to have a "front seat"
the part where the train is barely moving while the car traffic on the adjacent highway blows by, leaving "high speed" train in dust, reminds me of riding passenger trains in USA
interstellarphred But later, the train leaves all cars in the dust!
Gave video!
Hello!! I am a driver to drive Kim Young Ho Subway Line 5 in Korea.Nice to meet you !
Hello colleague!
TrainDriver NL TGV 's signaling system is TVM?
김영호 This train used TVM between Brussels and Paris, Between Amsterdam and Brussels this train uses ETCS on the high speed sections
TrainDriver NL Thank you!!!
김영호
in Frankrijk rijden TGV's tussen Quimper en Parijs montparnasse. en passeren ze ook overwegen
Ja klopt, alleen niet op de LGV, wij passeren ook overwegen als we via Roosendaal moeten rijden.
very nice video, thanks for sharing.
Echt mooie beelden
Bij 1.28.35 gaat de Thalys over een nieuwe route. Het mag sneller wezen, maar gaat wel via een omweg.
I know that wonderfull view, what i meet evvery day on my work. Of course not o that speed dimension. Similar with that i see on the DB- ICE trains.
Gratitude from loco driver to loco driver.
Love that sound after Rotterdam when it changes from 1500v Dc to 25kn Ac.
Not sure about the whine around the hour mark. Would drive me mad.
Hey Steve, I really like your video's of Engineering the TGV. Could you do a wider angle in a newer video? Something to think about. Regards, Jerry.
agentbond200 The French are masters of designing and building railway vehicles!
I should be going on this soon. Eurostar to Brussels, then Thalys to somewhere(please don't kill me)then the ICE to Frankfurt.
Mooi uitzicht

Going thru that tunnel is a bit nerve wracking to say the least.
vwgolfer187 Which tunnel? The one under Schiphol airport or the one under Maas river?
That station in 14:30 to 18:30... Is Schiphol Airport Station? Thanks... :-)
Pablo de la Cruz GARCÍA yes that's correct
i love the french tgv and how fast it is.
Question what tgv is the newest model?

Must be new trackage since my days in NL/BE in the 60s. I just dont recognize the line.

Nice journey! Greetings from Russia :-)
Does the train reach 300 on the part from schiphol airport to rotterdam?
+Martijn Spiegelaar Yes it does :)
After the airport the train becomes a wingless airplane:)

Hi Steve how long is the full journey from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussels Midi please. As Im doing this Journey on the 17/6/17.
1 hour and 52 minutes, this video I apparently did it in 1 hour and 49 minutes though
Ok thanks alot mate. Do you know what 1st class is like on the Thalys TGV please.

やっぱ海外の新幹線スゲー!😁👊
why diaphragm so closed and so much vignetting? =)
Speed?!
300 km/h on the high speed lines.
how fast 200 k
300 kmh (186 mph)
It seems at times, going any faster you might enter hyperspace like 2001 Space Odyssey ...careful you don't wind-up back in Utero. =D

NICE VIDEO WATCHING THIS A SECOUND TIME
This puts our railways to shame. If you can find a stretch to get to 100kph, you're doing well *sigh*
The amount of graffiti is unbelievable,is this a serious problem in your country or what?
I don't know, I think I'm used to it, I don't get the feeling that authorities are really going after them unless they spray paint the trains themselves.
