Nice video, just a short correction regarding damage requirement for xp gain. You must do more than any other NPC that hits the mob, if its one NPC then yeah the damage requirement is 51% - however if two NPCs help you then the damage requirement is lowered.
You can also keep going from the airfield to the top of the mountain above ironforge and there's a camp and airplane wreck. As far as I know there's no flight path up there either so it's an entirely hidden little detail.
You an also reach the airport from the dun morogh side IIRC. Not sure if the map was different in WoTLK but I remember doing it as a new player and exploring the Ironforge airport :D
This is one of those secret gems in Vanilla that I ended up scrapping a video for. That spot in particular is the fastest possible Linen Cloth per hour + they drop a lot of low level greens and whites for leveling toons and under 10 twinks(very niche market). I made a lot of gold here during the AQ war effort on each of the Vanilla servers. RIP its secrecy now.

My old mostly Dwarf guild would often go here to help others and goof. We would pretend to play curling on the frozen ice wearing farmer hats, wielding brooms, beer tankards and lots of yelling. The posture a Dwarf Hunter does when putting a trap down looks perfect for curling :) Good times!
Lil tip for casters, pickup skinning/LW at lvl 2 right out of the starter zone if you're willing to make that trek, (easier for humans, right on the lake by GS) only 10 copper each to learn and 82C(iirc) for the skinning knife. Get yourself 40 skill in LW and 80 Light Leather and craft 10 of the 2 stam chest pieces. Drop em, grab enchanting, make the wand. Grind your butt off in this spot, no need for questing pretty much at all 1-14 if you kill beasts to skin 1-6 and make the wand since it's usable at lvl 5. Wand+this spot=AWESOME. Did NOT know about this spot and the hyperspawning in it, but always went for wands/engi goggles pre-10 and this is just gonna make the grinding nicer.
That's really interesting gonna try that out ty. You run out of mana so fast with the re-spawns. I'm not sure whether you can do 50% damage with a wand before the trolls get obliterated but it is certainly worth trying. (If I ever use this in a video I'll be sure to give you full credit).
Best spot is westfall. Near a wreck there is 5 or 6 crawler. Fast to kill, instant respawn. You can loot green items and shells that can contains pearl. Easy exp and golds
It's fixed on HC PTR since last update thursday. So now, 95% of the time, the mobs won't give xp at all, but sometimes, 5% of the time, they do give xp for whatever reason. I tried to find out what would trigger the xp reward, with group, alone, with help of npc, without, nothing seems to matter. It was working fine on PTR before thursday's patch.
IDK how I got to this video, but I remember leveling up all my characters here back in early lvl 60 vanilla... I used to invite random lvl 1s to my party and then just hit all the trolls once. Something like a year later Blizz patched out the easy wall walk just past the graveyard outside the gates of IF. Wasn't worth it for me anymore once it took more than a few minutes to get to this place, but it sure was fun while it lasted. Thanks for the nostalgia!
that lil crack you jump up at north gate pass was the first time i was ever able to explore outside the world they didnt want us to see. i ended up under stormwind, probably around 2006 when i started the game
We used to do this way back in the retail vanilla days. We'd charge people a few G to show them the path up the mountains and take them to the top of the IF gates.
omg this brought me back memories. I remember doing this back in 07 when i wanted to get in the airport with my hunter and his pet bat to see how far in the tunnel i could see. Great video.
I notice your level 12, i just tried this strat as a level 6 warlock and there was no way I was doing half their hp before they died. Definitely would recommend being a higher level.
There's actually a level 4 that pops up and a level 7. You just have to focus those. Similarly you have to focus the level 10 when outleveling the zone.
I may be wrong, but i think i saw somewhere that if you absolutely clonk your frames up, the higher your framerate, the less temperamental those jumps will be. Might have something to do with tickrate. Not sure this works, but worth a try.
I'll try it. Problem is with this type of thing is that people often see a correlation between what they were doing at the time the jumping worked - seeing patterns in randomness. But this sounds plausible enough to test.
@@archvaldor on the ptr the troll mobs dont award xp but the kills count for quests so im on the ptr at the moment and the mobs dont award xp. to be make sure i have the most dmg dealt to the mob, ive even tried to kill some of them solo. but still no xp. that is kinda weird because there are mobs with the exact same name in dun morogh that award xp. to test more, i went and got the "frostmane hold" quest to see if the mobs give kill credits for quests. so back at the trolls ive killed one more headhunter and it did count for my quest.
I tried this as a Warlock and I was having a very bad time. The low range and high casting time basically meant I was tanking the trolls before the mountaineers stole 9 out of 10 kills. But still a fun project to try. The journey alone was worth it.
The moment you hit that crack to jump up I knew exactly where that was I'd go there all the time 17 years ago or w/e. I'd also take a mage and slow fall to menethil harbor.
It might be worth a 2nd look at the quest "A crew under fire" in Azaraha. If you can work out a reliable way to kill the mobs you can force spawn waves of 4-5 level 48-50 mobs without end.
There used to be an addon where it would turn green on your minimap based on what angle you were with the wall...if it was green, you could scale it insanely easily. I remember going everywhere with it lol. I miss Vanilla WoW. Vanilla was different than classic. Classic was LATE classic, after all the patches...I played like a month after launch...
I heard a trick recently that hunter and warlock pets dont sucks xp. You can therefore be TPed by 3 warlocks. You ungroup, tag the mobs and warlock pets kill them. 100% mobs xp.
Is someone getting more than 10kxp /h? I can reach 15-20k exp/h optimizing questing, is really worth it or is I am doing bad and not tagging mobs in the proper way?
This might be best for leveling to 60 ASAP but for those who are leveling casually, I like to do the low level quests as it rewards so much reputation to the major cities. This is important for those who want to get a mount from a different faction that is not a part of your race. And in Classic Vanilla, the reputation rewards from quests greatly diminish if the quest becomes gray. So its important to do the quests at the right level for the best reputation gain.
Nice video! I know you touched a bit on tradeoffs of using this, so going on that, there’s also an “undergeared” risk. Let’s say you do this until level 15. Then you’d be level 15 with level 6 gear. Do you have any ways to get your gear “up to speed” so lvl 14s+ aren’t a problem once you resume to normal questing?
The idea of hardcore on a pvp realm just fills me with horror. As you know there are like ten thousand ways to grief people even on pve servers-I'm not masochistic enough to even contemplate it on a pvp realm. I'd like to know if you come up with any ideas though.
Gear early game does almost nothing for mages, they armor is neglectible anyways and the most you are going to be missing out on is maybe like 3-5 int.

I'm not really sure what hardcore players consider to be in the spirit of the challenge. For example using evade mechanics to get out of combat seems to be OK-but that is a bigger exploit than this one is. It prevents death altogether.
I see you dropped your intro awhile ago. Was this in response to the changes of UA-cam to monetize all videos (spam commercials indiscriminately), or just coincidence?
UA-cam give you a bunch of really powerful analytical tools includer viewer retention time. When you look at the intro it is like falling off a cliff. For this reason I and virtually everyone else stopped using intros and outros. It is a great pity, I really liked the intro it was done for me for free by a French artist named Prismal. But it was costing me too much traffic-people really want you to get to the point fast. (I have no idea how YT monetization works I'm afraid, except that they don't give me any money)
If you just want to explore you can use some type of slowfall and jump to the right of the IF graveyard. That's much faster. I showed this method just for levelers.
Oh I found a way to get there in Wrath before cata changes, jumped through the mountain on foot from around the ram area. Tried to replicate it later on when playing wow but never could.... I guess you can achieve anything when you are a stupid kid and have infinite time to spare xD Never knew about the trolls tho
faster sure but that is ONLY if you dont add on the time spent trying to even get there. Hence its kinda pointless, even more so if you dont make it up that hill for a few min so its cool yes! but practical not at all.. i would not be shocked it people out leveled you if this was something you try to do it also is 100% pointless to do if you are anything other than a gnome or dwarf..just dont lol

You can clip through the wall of one of the collapsed tunnels up there and you can land inside the middle of the deeprun tram while falling

The downside is that these mobs have no loot thus you will fall behind hard on professions which can be a problem later on.
True, but once your 40 or max you’re moving a lot faster and leveling professions becomes easier
Meh with no AH gold is easy to come by on hardcore as you only really spend it on abilities

It takes practice but you can certainly beat questing if you are good enough to get those numbers doing questing in the first place.

well it only works if only 1 or 2 people are using it if there are more gathered there it's pointless...

If you just want to explore you can use some type of slowfall and jump to the right of the IF graveyard. That's much faster. I showed this method just for levelers.
Oh I found a way to get there in Wrath before cata changes, jumped through the mountain on foot from around the ram area. Tried to replicate it later on when playing wow but never could.... I guess you can achieve anything when you are a stupid kid and have infinite time to spare xD

faster sure but that is ONLY if you dont add on the time spent trying to even get there. Hence its kinda pointless, even more so if you dont make it up that hill for a few min so its cool yes! but practical not at all.. i would not be shocked it people out leveled you if this was something you try to do it also is 100% pointless to do if you are anything other than a gnome or dwarf..just dont lol
